When I returned, Rett had an arm flung over his eyes and wore a very lazy smile. “I didn’t think I’d experience anything better than my Autoblow AI, but… uh… Your mouth comes pretty damn close.”

Autoblow AI? I’d have to google that when I got a chance. Or better yet, have him give me a demo.

“Just close?” I razzed, standing at the edge of the bed between his spread thighs.

When he flung his arm off his face, it flopped heavily to the bed and he stared up at me, his eyes still not fully focused. “While the other week it was good, tonight it was even better. Let’s just say I wouldn’t complain if you did this again later.”

I raised an eyebrow. “Later?”

“Tomorrow night would be fine, too.”

“I’ll make a note of it.”

“Also, jot it down on your calendar for the rest of the week.” His gaze landed on my aching erection bobbing straight out from my body. “That looks uncomfortable.”

“It is.”

“Did you want help with that?” he asked with an eyebrow wiggle.

“I could use some assistance,” I admitted.

“I don’t mind volunteering.”

“That’s good because you’re the only one here.”

“Are you saying you’re stuck with me?” he asked, pretending to be offended.

“I wouldn’t quite say stuck, no.”

“Wellllll, if there was someone else you’ve taken a fancy to…”

Taken a fancy to? Did I miss us teleporting back to the Regency era?

“Have you taken a fancy to start writing historical romance? Do you have a secret pen name you’ve been hiding?”

Rett wrinkled his nose. “No. Forget balls, carriages and horrendous body odor. I’ll stick to murder, mayhem, and hard-to-solve cases.”

“Mmm. Same. Slide up the bed.”

As he did so, I climbed onto the mattress and followed him by walking on my knees as he slid up to the headboard.

When he tucked a pillow under his head, I told him, “You’re not going to need that. At least not for your head.”

“Oh. Where else am I going to need it?”

When I held out my hand, he jerked the pillow from under him and handed it to me.

“Head down, ass up.”

He didn’t hesitate to flip over and when he did, I stuffed the pillow under his hips to lift them. “That’s also a good place for it,” he confirmed.

“Spread your ass cheeks. Show me where you want me.”

A flush spread from his neck and slightly down his back. I’d never seen that before, but then, before Rett, I never had sex with anyone other than Thomas. I was sure I would discover a lot of new things with Rett, both in bed and out of it.

I looked forward to both expanding my horizons and maybe even my close-knit circle.

With a hand clamped on each ass cheek, he exposed his tempting little hole to me, still shiny from the lube. More would be needed before I took this any further.

“Next time I’ll eat that first.” Before I slathered it with inedible lube.

The bed shook violently at my announcement. From shock, surprise or wonderment? Maybe all three.

“Will you be able to manage that, too?” I asked.

“I can manage anything you throw at me, baby.”

Baby.

I still wasn’t sure about that endearment. I never saw myself as anyone’s baby. Lover or husband, yes. Baby? I’d either have to get used to it or find him an alternative. But not right now. I had much more important things to do.

Like Rett.

I grabbed a condom out of the box, ripped open the wrapper and took my time rolling it down my throbbing cock that had its own heartbeat. I lubed myself generously, along with adding more in and around his puckered hole.

“Are you ready?” I asked in a rough whisper when I was through prepping and had moved into place.

“Yesssss. I’m so damn ready.” He had his head buried within his crossed arms, but it popped up. “Are you going to be rough tonight?”

“I wasn’t planning on it. Why?”

Silence.

“Rett…”

“Take me how you normally like it. Don’t hold back on my account.”

“I wanted tonight to be…” Special.

“We can make tonight however we want to make it. After all, it’s our night. This is our beginning. We can do things however we want to. That means fucking me how you like to fuck. I don’t want you holding back. I want all of you, Chase. The good, the bad, the beautiful and even the ugly. I want the real Chase. The man he used to be as well as the man he recently grew to be.”

I considered what he said and, of course, he was annoyingly right. Again. The man was rarely ever wrong.

Yes, this was our beginning. We could build our relationship how we wanted it. How we both needed it.

We could start a foundation tonight, officially shifting from friends to lovers. Eventually moving from lovers to something more when the time was right.
