“I want to know anything that helps,” I reply.

“Ah, Yes, Danika. She’s extremely smart, but just as hot-tempered. Tell her before she sets your bed on fire,” he chuckles.

“Aye, thanks.”

“As I told you, Freddie would approve. I guess he didn’t have anything to worry about with the age gap.”

I laugh as I see Danika walking toward my building entrance from the other direction. KD barks loudly and tries to run ahead. The way Danika is eyeing my shirtless body, I don’t think she’s worried about my age.

“Thanks for the talk. I have to go.”

“I’ll be in touch.”

I end the call as I stop in front of my woman and tug her into a kiss by the front of her shirt. Thinking of last night, I deepen the kiss.

“Good morning to you too,” she laughs when we part, both breathing heavily. She then gives KD her attention and rubs her head. “Hey, girl. Hey.”

“I told ya she likes ya.”

“We’re getting there. Hey, boys. Good run?”

“Grand run. Now it’s time for a shower and breakfast.”

“I’ll make you breakfast while you’re in the shower.”

I switch all the chains to one hand and close the distance to palm her ass. Slowly, I dip my head and kiss her neck.

“Not a chance, love. Yer taking a shower with me. I’ll make ya breakfast after.”

“Spoiling me where it counts.”

I lift a brow at her words, hearing something underneath her tone. However, I don’t get to ask about it as one of my neighbors jogs up looking nervously at the dogs. Dean takes KD and the five of us head upstairs.

This should be our life.

“Hey, baby. I need to take this. Go on and start your shower, I’ll be right there,” I say to Ronan as my phone rings.

He grunts and pecks my lips before sending the dogs to their apartment and walking off. I can’t take my eyes off him as he walks away. Damn, I think to myself and move to a quiet corner and pick up the call.

“Hello.”

“You kept your word. I received your gift this morning and the word is out. Erjon has been making some noise of his own already,” LaSalle says in response.

I grin. I sent him Bujar and Dalmat’s tattoos, which I filleted from their dead bodies as confirmation of the job done. Everyone knows the signature tat. I knew he would get the meaning.

“I always keep my word. I hope in time you will prove to keep yours. I don’t tolerate disloyalty in business.”

He chuckles. “You will find I keep my word and always do what I say. I take care of those who take care of me.

“Your uncle and I established a solid relationship. I think we will do the same.”

“You know how to find me if you need me.”

“I do, my friend. We’ll be in touch.”

With that, we hang up. I turn and head to Ronan’s bedroom. The shower is running inside the bathroom. I make quick work of stripping down and placing my things aside in a neat pile.

I find the head wrap and shower cap I leave over here and cover my locs before sauntering into the bathroom. Ronan has his back to me as I step into the shower. I glide my hands around to his front as I place my cheek against his back.

“Everything all right?” he asks.

“Yeah, just a little business.” I shrug.

“Anything I can help with?”

“I’ve got it covered, big boy. Do you need help washing all these muscles?”

“Aye, I can’t seem to get it all on my own,” he snorts.

Turning to face me swiftly, he grabs the back of my neck and crushes his lips to mine. I lift on my toes and lock my arms around his neck. In the next motion, he drops to his knees and has my legs wrapped around his head.

I toss my head back and lock my fingers in his thick, red locks. As I open to him, I realize I’m letting my guard down. My track record whispers this will end one of two ways.

He’s going to walk out on me, or he’ll be taken from me. I’m getting deeper into my uncle’s world. That could take Ronan away in so many ways.

I squeeze my eyes shut and close off all those thoughts. I want to be cared for. I want to be vulnerable around someone I care for. I want someone to give back what I give.

Ronan is out here—not a part of that world and he’s strong enough to handle me. For now, I’m going to keep having a taste of the dream.

CHAPTER 26

Hot Games

Dean

Seven months later …

“Girl, didn’t I tell you, you don’t have to check on me every second like a toddler. Why do you think I moved back to my place?”

I smile as my mother sounds like her old self. I was sad to see her move out, but she was insistent. In the end, I figured it might be for the best.
