“It still doesn’t make me happy. What about his contact with Cassandra?”

“He’ll be arrested if he contacts her.” That’s some consolation, but it won’t be enough.

“Good.” I can’t change what has happened already, but I’ll guard my wife with all my heart. We married two weeks ago on the beach right under our tree. She’s resting in bed right now after having been unwell all morning. I’d be there with her if I didn’t have matters that only I could handle at the hotel.

Although I’m sure my mom has already called or stopped by. They hit it off immediately and it’s hard to kick my mom out so I can get my wife alone. I shoot Cassandra a message to see if she’s okay. She replies right back. Missing you. Just got off the phone with your mom. Dinner tomorrow night.

I turn to Marco, who’s waiting in front of my desk to finish our conversation, but I’ve lost all train of thought on business. My head’s swimming with a need to fix this. “I want the security on my wife doubled.”

He nods. At this very moment, I have two guards who patrol around the villa.

“Have you gathered anything on Ellis?”

“Yes, he’s in debt to the tune of two million dollars. He used company finances to pay for his legal fees…along with other non-work expenses.” He hands over the file folder and as I look through it, I see Ellis’s fall.

“Good. I need you to do something for me. Pull a report on Cassandra.” His eyes shoot open. I put my hand up to stop whatever argument he’s going to make. “I have a feeling there’s a life insurance policy on her. If he’s this much in debt, that means he’d look for a cash cow to marry, not a woman barely making fifty thousand a year.”

“Yes, sir.”

“Now, if you’ll excuse me. I’m done for the day and need to get back to my wife.”

“Have a good one. I’ll have everything for you by tonight.”

“Great.” We walk out, and I head straight home. The second I’m through the door, I find my wife in nothing but a towel. I freeze and stare, my dick jerking against my zipper.

“What do you have there?” she asks.

“Room service,” I growl, stalking toward her. I pick her up with one arm, and she wraps her legs around me. “Looks like I’m having dessert first.”

Cassandra

I turn off the television after watching the shocking latest episode of Snapped. This one was personal, so I couldn’t look away when I realized it was on. Charles and Nicole had become a couple after everything, having a baby and all. Learning that he was cheating on her, she killed him. Now she’s doing twenty-five years and my mother and stepfather have taken custody of their kid. They asked us to be a part of the show, but Jamison and I wanted no part of it.

We were grateful that that part of our lives was long gone. A memory that fades as the years go by. I remember when Jamison told me about the ten-million-dollar life insurance policy in my name. It was supposedly company procedure, naming Charles the beneficiary. I gasped, but the second I quit, HR had canceled the policy. My mother claims to have no idea about the plan, but I’ve severed all ties with her years ago and have no intentions of ever building a relationship with her. I’m happy with the life I have and my mother-in-law who has been like a real mother to me since we met.

The phone rings on the side table beside me, and it’s Malcolm. He’s the head of security for the kids and I when Jamison’s at work. Marco tends to stay around Jamison and the hotel. “Yes?”

“The kids are fine, but it’s about to rain.”

“Thank you. I’ll call them in. Take the rest of the night off.”

“Yes, Mrs. Cain.” I smile as I end the call. Jamison refuses for any of the staff to call me anything, but Mrs. Cain. He’s a bit possessive of me and I eat it up. Over the years, Jamison’s done his best to protect and care for us. I couldn’t ask for a better husband and father for our kids.

“Boys, get inside. A storm’s coming,” I call out. With four kids and another on the way, Jamison expanded the villa, adding another three bedrooms and baths. It’s been wonderful. Ten years, and my handsome husband still makes me feel like a queen.

The boys come flying my way, dashing in as the rain starts. Just as I close the door behind the last one, in comes their daddy through the front door.

“What do you have there?” I question with a teasing brow and smirk.

“Dinner,” he grumbles with a smile. After ten years we hardly have a moment alone, except for bedtime. Still, we make every moment count. He crosses the distance, setting the bags down on the table before slipping his arm around my waist and then stealing a kiss.
