"Wow." He let my words settle over him before asking, "How do we bond?"

My heart leapt with hope and eagerness. "I give you my mating bite here," I replied, tapping my fingers to the side of his neck. "It will link our souls together, and show all paranormal beings that we belong together."

"Would I become a cougar?" Trey asked, and I thought I detected a hint of hope in his voice.

"No, you would stay just as you are, although you would become immune to disease as well."

"I'm having a hard time finding a downside to all of this," Trey admitted, making my heart soar. "But I'm not sure I'm ready for forever yet. Can we take things a little slow? I'm sorry. It's got nothing to do with you-"

"Don't apologize," I requested. "I understand." His last relationship was hell. It made sense that he was a little gun shy, especially with our unique situation. "I will wait as long as you need. I just want to be with you, Trey. Being near you makes me happy."

"It makes me happy too."

I touched my fingertips to his cheek and stroked his smooth skin as my gaze fell to his lush, pink lips. They'd called to me from the moment we met. I longed to taste them; to feel them against my own.

Before I could ask permission, Trey leaned forward and pressed his mouth to mine. I moaned softly as the built up expectation gave way to something greater than I ever imagined. His lips were soft and plump on mine as he gently nibbled my skin.

I slipped my tongue between his teeth and sighed as his smoky flavor painted my taste buds. We licked against one another, tangling our tongues together and greedily swallowing each other's moans and sweet saliva.

I stroked Trey's face as he ran his fingers through my bristled beard, sending shivers down my spine. His touch made my blood burn and race with the need to take him and make him my own, but I tamped down the urge. We were moving at his pace.

When Trey pulled away, my eyes lazily opened, finding him gazing back at me with blown pupils and kiss-swollen lips. "I've never been kissed like that before," he told me in a whisper.

"I want to kiss you like that forever."

His tongue traced his lips and I could practically see the dirty thoughts tumbling around his mind, and I could scent his arousal in the air. His heart may need time, but his body wanted its mate. But I would wait until every part of him was ready.

It took all of my willpower to suggest, "Shall we continue our walk?"

Trey blinked the lust from his eyes before nodding slowly. I stood up and quickly turned from him to dress, hiding my erection from him, but not missing his whispered, 'Hot damn', at the sight of my ass.

Once I was clothed and my arousal was (mostly) hidden, I helped Trey onto his feet. He gripped my hand and we walked deeper into the forest as I answered his many questions.

Chapter Seven

Trey

I took a deep breath as my friends and I entered Pride Place. It was Rowdy's night to work again, and he asked everyone to join him. They were all insistent on giving me a better night there than the one I'd had a few days ago.

Although, I couldn't complain too much about that crazy night, because it brought me to Rider. A car accident was a small price to pay to meet such an incredible man.

Everyone was incredible. Rowdy, Zane, Grayson, and Ridge had all accepted me into their little group, telling me that I was not just their friend, but their family; their pack. They promised to always look out for me and have my back. I'd never had friends like them before. I'd always been an outcast, but now I couldn't imagine life without them.

And I couldn't bear to think about life without Rider. The man was perfect; he doted on me until the pain from my bruised side was almost non-existent. He made sure I had enough to eat, and that all my needs were met. He put me first in everything, and seemed honored to do so.

Rider even opened up his home to me. He, Rowdy, and Ridge all jumped in together and made quick work of moving my belongings from my old place. It was a little scary to move out of my apartment, but also invigorating. I loved the freedom and peace I found in the mountain home. But most of all, I loved sharing the space with Rider.

We spent all day every day talking and sharing stories about our past, and dreams for our future. We swapped copies of our favorite books, and it meant a lot that he was taking time to appreciate the things that were important to me.
