“Joseph’s exactly right,” Gray confirms in a rumble, squeezing her hand. “Never apologize for what we have because our relationship is incredibly beautiful and amazing, and we wouldn’t change anything about it.”

Tears roll down Emma’s face again, but now she’s smiling while gazing between our large forms. “How did I get so lucky?” she asks in a choked voice. “You’re so good to me,” she whispers.

That does it. I haul her into my arms and pepper her with kisses as Gray strokes her back.

“No, you’re the one who’s good to us,” I vow. “We’re the lucky ones,” I say.

With that, our kisses become passionate and soon, moans are ringing through the room as our session becomes heated once more. After all, everything Gray and I said is true. The sweet girl has come to mean everything to us, and the depth of our emotion goes beyond a mere fling. It seems that it may be time to revisit our previous statements about permanence and impermanence because somehow, the gorgeous Emma McLachlan has wormed her way into our hearts, and we’re not going to let anyone or anything destroy this incredible woman.

A week later.

Fuck. I’ve been pacing my office most of the day. You know what? There’s no point in hanging out here anymore. I grab my coat and suitcase and head into the hallway.

“Bye Mary,” I growl. “See you tomorrow.”

My secretary nods, her eyes wide because I hardly ever leave early.

“Of course, Senator Packard. Have a nice night.”

With that, I get in a private car and head to Joseph’s penthouse. He’ll be here shortly too, and then the three of us will talk. After all, it’s been a week since we put the P.I. on the mysterious person threatening Emma. Who the fuck would even do that? Their mode of communication is so ridiculous too, with the lewd cartoon of a pussy and two dicks. I’d like to hand this jerk-off his dick, come to think of it. He could use a good taking down.

Striding into Joseph’s penthouse, I see that Emma’s comfortably ensconced on the couch with her laptop open.

“Hi sweetheart,” I say, bending to press a kiss to her cheek. “How’s school?”

She nods, looking up with a sweet smile.

“It’s okay, but what are you doing home early?”

Then, there’s another set of footsteps in the foyer and we both turn to see Joseph.

“Joe?” Emma asks in a confused voice. “Wait, why are both of you home early? Did something happen? Is there an emergency that I need to know about?”

“No, of course not,” I soothe while sitting next to her on the couch. She moves her laptop out of the way, and Joseph takes a seat on the curvy girl’s other side. “But yes, we did get some news from the P.I. and we wanted to share it with you, sweetheart.”

“But it’s not exactly the best news,” Joseph warns. “So prepare yourself.”

Emma stills, her eyes concerned. “Oh no. It’s bad isn’t it?”

Joe grips her hand and looks into her eyes.

“It’s not so bad, but the PI says that a woman named Siri is the person behind the obscene note.”

There’s a pause as Emma grows confused.

“Okay, but who’s Siri?” she asks. “The person who talks to you on Apple devices? How can that be?”

I shake my head.

“No, it’s a human Siri. Apparently she works at the coffee shop, Everyman Espresso, downstairs,” I add. “Have you ever interacted with her? I never go to Everyman. That is, hardly ever,” I amend.

Realization dawns on our girlfriend’s face and her jaw drops open. “Oh my God,” she breathes. “That Siri. Siri the barista. But how did she even know about us? I’ve only made the tiniest bit of conversation with her, and it was always really casual. I certainly never talked about our relationship.”

I shrug.

“Your guess is as good as mine. But she knows that Senator Mellon lives in the building, and that I go in and out. Plus, you’re there in the mornings, so maybe that was enough.”

Emma’s cheeks redden as she blushes.

“I do go to Everyman almost every morning,” she confesses. “And it’s at 5 a.m., when I’m often the only customer there. Not only that, but I’m usually picking up coffee for all three of us, so maybe she pieced the clues together,” she says softly.

Joseph shrugs.

“Yeah, it probably doesn’t take a detective.”

Emma nods, her expression thoughtful. “And there were a few times when you guys called while I was at Everyman, asking for additional sugar, milk or something like that. So maybe she overheard. I do have the volume on my phone up pretty loud,” she admits. “Then again, I could be your assistant, so it wouldn’t be that weird that I’m making a coffee run.”

Joseph nods.

“This woman probably doesn’t know for sure, but her hunch is that you’re dating both of us, and that your sweet smile first thing in the morning isn’t just from a good night of sleep. Rather, it was from getting pounded hard by two men, and the barista could sense the vibes in the air.”
