Caesar
A mysterious billionaire saved my life.
Now, I owe him.
My team’s Save Isla from certain danger.
My Convince her she’s mine.

Isla
They can laugh at me all they want.
But treasure hunting is my passion.
Could I find the last piece of the puzzle at Danger Bluff?
If only my gorgeous scuba guide didn’t ooze Daddy vibes.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Prologue

Could a day get any better than this?

Caesar glanced over at the beautiful woman swimming effortlessly next to him as they explored the depths. She had chosen this spot for their scuba adventure today. He didn’t know how she’d luckily pointed at such a great location on the map. He’d assured her they’d get to see so many different sea creatures on the dive.

He touched her arm to point out a patch of rocks to the left, silently suggesting that they go look there. Mindy immediately shook her head and pointed up ahead. As they moved forward, Caesar noticed that she checked her watch several times. Was she watching her oxygen level? Was it something else?

Caesar had been on several dates with Mindy. He’d met her when another scuba instructor had introduced them. So far, she’d been fun to hang out with, but as he watched her swimming with such intent toward an unknown destination, he wondered how well he really knew her.

His inner radar went off. With several years in the Coast Guard under his belt, he’d honed a fine-tuned radar. He’d also learned long ago to trust that warning voice when it talked to him. Caesar tested his theory. Scanning the area, he spotted what looked like a series of wooden ribs pointing up from the seabed. Again, he touched her arm and pointed before waving for her to come with him. Mindy again shook her head and continued her path. That refusal went directly against her avowed passion to explore the unusual on the seabed.

Following her, Caesar shifted to swim on her other side. She appeared to be zeroing in on a specific location. Mindy certainly had not chosen to share that she’d had a target in mind. It explained why she’d insisted on selecting the area for today’s explorations. He hadn’t picked up on her intent as she’d giggled and seemed to ponder where to go.

He scanned the area, on full alert. Mindy stopped and immediately began waving her hands over the sand to disperse the particles. When the top of a box appeared, she motioned him over to help her dig it out. Her eyes gleamed with excitement even through the diving mask.

A shadow fell over the area where they worked, making Caesar look up. A large boat stopped just to the right of their location. Mindy hit his arm and dug furiously. A cold shiver ran down his spine. Something in the way they hovered over them alerted him that these weren’t tourists. He wrapped one hand around Mindy’s bicep and tried to pull her away. Perhaps they could make it back to the boat safely.

She shook her arm out of his hold and continued to work to free the box. Mindy obviously wasn’t going to leave without the object she was trying to get. As a handle appeared, he watched her grab it and attempt to drag it from the sand. It moved only a fraction of an inch.

Splashes from above made them both look up to see five figures in black wetsuits dropping into the water. Mindy frantically signaled him to pull the container out. Caesar moved her out of the way and heaved on the handle. It shifted in the sand. Bracing himself as much as possible in the water, he tugged with all his strength.

The case popped out of its sandy lodging. The driving force behind it propelled Caesar and the box backward. Mindy swam after them, frantically motioning Caesar to haul it up to the boat. She grabbed the handle on the opposite side and struggled to carry the heavy load to the surface.

Gathering his feet underneath himself, Caesar kicked himself away from the bottom and joined her efforts. Because the weight held them back, it felt like they were swimming against a strong current. A dive float would have saved this exertion, but without knowing Mindy had a recovery dive planned, Caesar had not brought one with them.

He glanced over his shoulder to see the divers getting closer. They could move ten times faster than he and Mindy with their burden. Pushing his body to its limit, he kicked quickly to propel himself forward.

Finally, Caesar’s head breached the water’s surface beside his boat. He dragged the mouthpiece from his lips. “What the fuck is going on?”

Before she could answer, a jolt of pain lanced through his thigh, drawing a shout from his lips. Caesar looked down to see blood streaming through the water. Damn it! They had shot him with a spear gun.

“I’ll get on board and pull the case up,” Mindy yelled and released her end of the case.

Dragged down by the weight and weakened by the pole spear now jutting through his thigh muscles, Caesar forced himself to use the last of his strength to drive his burden back to the surface. Mindy reached down from the deck of his boat for the handle his fingers were clamped around. Pulling over and over as he pushed, she heaved it out of the water.
Magnus
A mysterious billionaire saved my life.
Now, I owe him.
My team’s job: Save Juniper from looming peril.
My goal: Convince her she’s mine.

Juniper
I’ve waited years to photograph this place.
This building has secrets–I remember them.
Returning to the uniqueness of Danger Bluff is my dream.
If only that captivating computer genius didn’t ooze Daddy vibes.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Prologue

A flicker of something in the code in front of him made Magnus freeze. His gaze ran over the last hundred lines, searching for something that could explain the anomaly. He checked behind the code to see who had added that section. The origin was completely and deliberately masked.

Setting aside that weirdness for the moment, he dived back into the code, trying to figure out what it did. The instructions were super complicated and messy. Was the person totally inept or uber-crafty? However, when all the pieces fell into place, Magnus jumped from his chair to pace the room.

“That can’t be right!” he shouted into the room. “Fuck!”

Throwing himself back into the chair, he pulled up a copy of his contract and searched for one thing. What the fuck was happening? He was working on a project for the U.S. Department of Defense. It said it right there in black and white. The additional code in his program was sending the data to a different location. It was masking the real recipient, the organization he was actually working for.

How could he have made such a mistake? Magnus had double-checked and triple-verified every step when they’d approached him. He wasn’t working for the U.S. Department of Defense after all. Someone else had tasked him with obtaining high-level data from his own country’s most secure files.

Disgusted with himself for falling prey to a scam, he threw the contract across the room. Whatever he’d thought it was didn’t matter.

The massive amount of sensitive material he had mined from the section of the government tasked with keeping everyone safe made him sick. He’d almost finished his report. Thank goodness he hadn’t revealed his data yet. If he hadn’t spotted that code, Magnus knew he would have hand-delivered the way to shut down U.S. defense systems.

A black-clothed figure passed the camera that focused on the back entrance to his house. A cold chill ran down his spine. They knew he was on to them.

Finally!

He mentally cursed his lack of detecting the manipulation from the beginning. Realizing he’d have to kick his own butt later, now he needed to focus to survive.

Disconnecting everything, Magnus powered off his computer and quickly pulled the hard drive. He shattered it into pieces with a hammer, destroying everything. Powering off his phone, he threw the computer shell and his cell into his laptop bag and ran to grab the go bag he still kept packed, even though he’d left the military several years ago. Every sensor he had was blaring silently by this time.

He paused to listen. His basement office was as impenetrable as he could make it. That didn’t mean someone determined couldn’t get in. It would take them some time, but they would finally invade, and he’d have nowhere to go. The sensors picked up a whisper of motion in front of the door to his lair.

He looked at the monitor with shock to see an apparatus taking shape. Magnus knew he was dealing with an organization even more powerful and treacherous than he could have imagined—and his experiences made that mind-blowing. Seconds later, machinery began to batter at the steel barrier. These guys were going to bypass his last hope in minutes.

A flash obliterated his cameras. Totally blind to what was happening above him, Magnus could only listen and guess. After a scattering of almost silent shots, there was silence for a minute, and the machine resumed battering his door.

Pulling his gun, Magnus took the best defensive position he could find to pick off the invaders as they came down the stairs. If they came down the stairs. There were many other ways they could eliminate him. Fire. Poisonous gas. Explosion.

When the door popped open, a voice called, “Magnus Taverson. We have five minutes to get you out of here before the next wave comes for you. Let’s not waste it.”

“Who are you?” he threw toward the door.

“Friendlies, and your only chance. Four minutes.”

Without second-guessing himself, Magnus shoved his gun in the back of his pants and ran up the stairs. Immediately, two men swarmed into his lair with plastic containers of liquid. He smelled the accelerant immediately as he followed the man who waved him out of the house toward a car parked in his driveway.

“Here.” The man held out a small object that Magnus accepted automatically.

When Magnus looked at it, he saw it was a heavy gold coin with a swirl design. No words. “What is this?”

“Hold on to this marker. You’ll be asked to repay this favor in the future. The car is full of gas, and there’s money in the glove box. Drive and create a new online persona for yourself. This one is toast.”

Before he could ask more questions, a blast of intense heat radiated from his house behind him with a whoosh that made him turn instinctively toward it. When he looked back at the man who’d led him outside, Magnus found himself alone. Without a second glance back, he ran for the car, slung his bag inside, and drove away. Shaking his head, he pulled his baseball cap lower on his forehead when a slew of dark trucks with no lights sped in the direction of the silent house behind him.
After two weeks of unpaid probation, during which Phoenix had basically been under house arrest, he was anxious to get this process moving forward, for better or worse.

The thing that sucked the most was that Phoenix was a damn good firefighter. He loved his job and took pride in it. At least, he had up until about three months ago when someone had decided to start setting fires all over the city and framed Phoenix for the arson.

Worse than that, not one person believed his story—that he was being framed. Even his immediate supervisor and a man he’d considered a close friend until recently, Captain Marks, had expressed his skepticism with regard to Phoenix’s innocence.

Reminding himself to remain calm, he took a deep breath and opened the door.

Jerkins, the fire marshal, and Marks, Phoenix’s captain, sat at a small conference table. They both rose as Phoenix entered.

Jerkins pointed toward the empty seat at the table. “Thank you for joining us. Please, have a seat.”

Marks was fidgeting, looking anywhere but at Phoenix.

Jerkins, on the other hand, looked calm and oddly pleased.

Fuck both of you, Phoenix thought to himself. At least there wasn’t an officer standing in the room with handcuffs out and ready. Small blessing. Phoenix took a seat in the offered chair.

Marks lowered onto his seat, too, busying himself by straightening a file folder in front of him. It wasn’t open, and it was huge. Several inches thick. Phoenix was sure it contained a mountain of evidence that would prove Phoenix was a serial arsonist. Didn’t even fucking matter that it wasn’t true. The evidence was substantial. He was well aware.

Jerkins cleared his throat as he resumed sitting. “Let me begin by expressing our apologies for the hell you must have gone through for the past few months.”

Phoenix lifted a brow but held his tongue. Apologies? Fuck you.

“I’ll get right to the point,” Jerkins continued when Phoenix offered no response to his previous comment. What the hell had the man expected Phoenix to say? Oh, thank you. I feel much better knowing you’re sorry that my entire life has been destroyed, and I’ll probably end up doing thirty to forty behind bars. It makes me feel so much better that you’re sorry.

“There’s been a development,” Jerkins continued. “A man came in this morning with a file of evidence that exonerates you from every incident of arson you were framed for.”

Phoenix stared at him. For several seconds, he simply processed the man’s words in his head. “Pardon?” he asked, his mouth dry.

Marks finally lifted his gaze. “We were wrong. We see that now.”

Phoenix slowly leaned forward in his chair, his spine going rigid as he set his elbows on the table. He stared at Marks and then shifted his gaze to Jenkins. “You’re fucking with me.”

Jenkins shook his head. “No. You’ve been cleared of all crimes. You’re free to return to your job. If you’d like to take some time off first, we’ll give you all the time you need.”

Phoenix glanced at Marks again. “Return to my job?” His heart was racing. He was still struggling to process this unexpected development. “My job?” His voice rose significantly.

Marks flinched and sat taller. “If that’s what you’d like, yes. You’re one of the best firefighters I’ve ever worked with. I’d like to have you back with the company.”

A slow rumble of laughter escaped Phoenix’s mouth. It came from someplace deep. It was ugly and made both men wince. Still laughing sardonically, he rose and wandered to the window to stare out at the city while he processed.

He ran a hand over his short-cropped hair and then down to stroke his recently shaved jaw. Exonerated… “Who?” he asked without turning around.

“Who what?” Jenkins responded.

Phoenix spun to face the men and leaned against the windowsill. He had no interest in sitting. He was antsy. “Who provided you with this sudden influx of evidence?”

Marks flinched. “We don’t know. He didn’t give his name. He simply dropped off this file folder and told us to take care of our internal problems.” Marks patted the giant folder under his palm.

Phoenix stared at the folder with new appreciation. He’d assumed it had been a mountain of evidence proving his own false guilt. Instead, it was apparently a pile of information that proved his innocence. Who the fuck had brought it in, and where had they gotten the data?
Kestrel
A mysterious billionaire saved my life.
Now, I owe him.
My team’s Save Zara from lurking threats.
My Convince her she’s mine.

Zara
I’ve tried to avoid attention all my life.
But there’s bad guys everywhere.
Danger Bluff should be a safe place to hide...
If only that devastating pilot didn’t ooze Daddy vibes.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Prologue

“Do you know what we do to murderers in here, cabrón? This ain’t the Holiday Inn.”

Kestrel took a step deeper into his cell but kept his shoulders back and his chin high. Bastard wasn’t the worst thing he’d been called since his capture. The physical abuse was what he needed his energy to endure. He probably wouldn’t survive prison in Mexico, but he sure as hell would go down fighting.

He’d been here less than two hours, and frankly, he was surprised it had taken that long for the prison gang to show up, crowding the entrance to his cell. The largest of the men, and clearly the leader, had at least fifty pounds on Kestrel. Most of it wasn’t muscle, but that wouldn’t matter in a fight.

Kestrel said nothing in response. He had no defense. These men were not ill-informed. Kestrel had indeed killed three men, but he’d done it for a good reason, and he would do it again in a heartbeat. No matter what happened to him, at least he knew his best friend, Stephan, and Stephan’s Little, Teresa, were now safely back in the U.S.

These gang members might not tolerate murderers, but they could go fuck themselves. Kestrel didn’t tolerate human trafficking, especially when it involved his best friend’s girl.

Three imposing men entered the cell, fists flexing, eyes narrowed.

Kestrel had expected to meet with resistance. Hell, he’d presumed he’d be dead before the end of the month, but he hadn’t thought his blood would be spilled in less than an afternoon.

“Out!” shouted someone behind the gang members. “All of you. Out now.”

Kestrel had never been more relieved to have taken four years of high school Spanish.

The leader growled as he turned to face the newcomer. “We’re just introducing ourselves to the new boy, guard.”

“Well, you can go find something else to do. He’s been transferred.”

Kestrel’s heart raced at this news. Transferred? Where? Why?

The men scowled at Kestrel before they slowly left his cell.

“Let’s go, Galison. You’ve been moved.” The guard looked bored as he stood at the entrance to the cell, waiting impatiently.

Kestrel took a deep breath and a step forward. He didn’t need to look around. He didn’t have any belongings. He hadn’t even lowered himself to sitting on his bed yet.

He had no idea what this transfer was all about. No one had mentioned it to him, especially not the shitty lawyer who’d “defended” him.

“Where am I going?” he asked the guard as he followed the man, retracing his steps to the entrance.

“Fuck if I know, asshole. I’m just doing my job.” The guard didn’t look at him. “Hell, probably.”

Of that, Kestrel had no doubt. He was already there. Wherever he was going next couldn’t be worse, considering he’d been about five minutes from death before this guard had shown up.

Fifteen minutes later, Kestrel was in shackles for the second time that day and stuffed in the back of a truck. He was also alone. Fear climbed up his spine as the driver and another prison guard of some sort pulled away from the curb.

Sweat ran down his back. It was fucking hotter than hell, and there was no AC in the back of this vehicle. No ventilation either. If they went very far, he might die before they arrived, which could be a blessing.

He figured about fifteen minutes had passed when the truck suddenly veered off the road so hard that Kestrel was thrown to the floor. Thank God his hands were cuffed in front to break his fall, or he might have hit his head.

Gunfire erupted seconds later.

“What the f—” the driver shouted before he slumped over the steering wheel.

Kestrel’s eyes widened in fear. The man in the passenger seat had also slumped against the door. Dead. Both of them.

“Jesus, fuck,” Kestrel murmured. Whoever had ambushed them had probably done so to either kidnap or murder Kestrel. Probably both. He’d killed three human traffickers, after all. The man in charge of that crime ring probably wanted revenge.

When the back door swung open, Kestrel braced himself for death for the second time in an hour.

Four men stood outside the back of the truck. Three of them were guarding the fourth, facing the surrounding area, weapons lifted.

“Kestrel Galison?” the fourth man asked.

Kestrel swallowed. It wasn’t as if he could get away with lying. This guy knew exactly who he was. And then an important detail filtered into his mind. The man was Caucasian. He spoke perfect English. And the camouflage he wore wasn’t anything Kestrel had seen in Mexico.

Kestrel cleared his throat. For the first time in weeks, he had some hope. “That’s me.”

“Let’s go. Hurry.” He waved Kestrel out of the back of the truck as he turned toward one of the other men. “Spidey, grab the keys for these shackles from the guard.”

One of the men nodded and jogged toward the front of the truck while Kestrel slid to the end of the vehicle and hopped awkwardly to the ground. A glance around told him they were in the middle of nowhere. The only thing he could see besides dirt in any direction was the van these men must have used to run the prison guards off the road.
Hawking
A mysterious billionaire saved my life.
Now, I owe him.
My team’s Save Celeste no matter what it takes.
My Convince her she’s mine.

Celeste
I was so close to finding the cure.
Why was I suddenly fired?
Danger Bluff will be the perfect place to hide.
If only that ripped, former military guy didn’t ooze Daddy vibes.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Prologue

“Unfortunately, your mother isn’t responding to any conventional treatments. The cancer progressed too far before it was detected.”

“So, what are you telling me?” Hawking stared at the doctor standing in front of him. He shut out all the machinery and people bustling around them to focus on the specialist’s solemn face.

“She has six months, maybe eight.”

“There’s nothing you can do for her? You said conventional treatments. What about unconventional ones?”

The doctor hesitated and then spoke, “We’re seeing a new medication extend the life of terminal cancer patients. Most importantly, it improves their quality of life,” Dr. Ramirez said.

“Then put her on that medication,” Hawking demanded.

“It’s not covered by insurance and is very expensive. Unaffordable for most.”

“I don’t care. Whatever it is. Start her on that,” Hawking repeated.

“I can’t do that until the medicine is ordered, and it must be paid for in advance,” the doctor shared quietly. His voice was markedly different from the former military man’s commands.

Hawking took a deep breath and reminded himself this wasn’t a military operation. The only order that would make an impact here was a money order. He exhaled and asked in a softer voice, “How much do I need to get, and who do I pay?”

“The last total I heard was a million dollars for a ninety-day supply. I’ll have the billing department contact you today with the exact amount and the details if you feel that might be possible. In the meantime, I’d also like you to approve of having hospice come in to make your mother comfortable. Then they will already be in place.”

“That’s end-of-life care, right?”

“Yes. The procedure will involve an end-of-lifesaving treatment. They focus on pain control and support of a patient’s quality of life.”

“Without it, would you continue treatment?” Hawking asked, hoping that his questions were the right ones.

“No. She is not responding to the treatment. There is no value in continuing it.”

“I want her as comfortable as possible.”

How can I get a million dollars?

Hawking sat by his mother’s side in the hospital. She’d escaped from the pain into sleep. Soon, she’d leave to go stay with his sister. The last thing Agatha Winther wanted was to stay here.

He thought of a half-dozen ways to get that kind of money and threw them away as impossible. Robbing a bank, printing his own money, even selling everything he owned wouldn’t work.

A flash of all the military-grade weapons piled up in the warehouse of the arms manufacturer Hawking worked for popped into his head. A huge shipment was going out tomorrow. If he could arrange a deal for someone to intercept the arms as it was moved, he could raise what he needed. Just selling the information on the route would do it. Illegal dealers would pay top dollar to get their hands on those guns.

He pushed away the thought of how this caliber of weaponry would damage the world. This was his mother.

“I’m afraid I’ve changed the terms of our agreement.”

Hawking stared at the scarred, ex-military man in front of him and felt the enormous lump of dread in his stomach double. He’d done all he could to help with the recovery of the guns from the bad guys staring at him with knowing smirks. The hidden trackers he’d placed inside each shipping container and the automated message that would be sent to the authorities within thirty minutes would almost ensure they could recover the weapons.

“Look, man, I don’t know what you’re thinking, but you can’t go back on our deal,” Hawking said, trying to bluff. He had no intention of ever repeating this again. “You’ll lose a resource for future sales.”

“You’ll get me weapons whenever I need them.”

“Why would I do that if you’re not paying?” Hawking scoffed, trying to keep his don’t-fuck-with-me attitude in full view.

“I have a picture of you in this exchange. You don’t want those shown to your boss, the government, or the cops.”

“That would shut you down as well,” Hawking pointed out and saw the man’s face harden. Score one point for me.

“Then we could just kill you. You’re not the only source for weapons in this town or for this company. We’ll take these while you decide whether you’d like to die here or live to make another delivery.”

“I can’t let you do that,” Hawking announced, drawing his weapon and shifting toward an immense crane on the dock.

The glow of a red target light on his chest motivated him to dive to safety behind the large piece of machinery. Shots filled the air. The automatic blasts clued him in that he was horribly out-gunned, and his chances were slim to survive this.

He peeked around the large tire he hid behind and saw a shadow approaching from behind the men, firing before he had time to jerk his head back. Good guys or bad guys? Hawking shook his head. It didn’t matter. Either way, he was screwed.
Rocco
A mysterious billionaire saved my life.
Now, I owe him.
My team’s Save Sadie at all costs.
My Convince her she’s mine.

Sadie
I wish I’d never noticed that error.
Now, I’m jobless, homeless, and broke.
Thank goodness the resort at Danger Bluff is hiring.
If only that chiseled mountaineer didn’t ooze Daddy vibes.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Prologue

“You have two choices. Jump, or I’ll shoot you in the head. Either way, you’re going off this cliff.”

Rocco held up both hands. “You don’t have to do this, man. I’m nobody—a mountain guide. I got your men through the pass. Just take the rest of the provisions and leave me here. I don’t care what you and your men have done or what you intend to do. I saw nothing.” He prayed he could reason with these assholes, but that didn’t seem likely.

Rocco was fucked. He glanced behind him. He was less than two feet from the ledge. If he jumped, he would die on impact.

Janks, the bearded stout man who was the ringleader of this organization, laughed sardonically. “You know too much, motherfucker. Which is it going to be? You jump, or I shoot? Personally, I think getting shot between the eyes is the better option. Slightly quicker death than pissing yourself while you fall into the ravine. Either way, it doesn’t matter. No one will ever find your body.”

Rocco knew Janks was right. No one would even be looking for Rocco. He was a one-man gig. A nomad who spent his life in the mountains. His current source of income was guiding people through the mountain pass. Looked like he’d picked the wrong group this time.

Rocco had had suspicions about this group from the beginning, over a week ago. But last night had been the clincher. He’d overheard the men discussing what they were going to do with their money after this massive drug run. He doubted they’d ever intended to let him live anyway, but when they’d seen him standing at the edge of the campsite, they’d lost their shit, grabbed him, and tied him to a tree for the night.

They’d needed him for one more day. They hadn’t known the route. They never would have survived and exited the mountain pass without him.

Rocco had spent the day trying to figure out what the fuck to do to get out of this situation, and he’d come up blank. He’d had a gun, but it was now in the possession of the drug smugglers.

“Three seconds, asshole,” Janks growled, cocking the gun.

Suddenly, a shot rang out. Janks dropped to the ground. The other five smugglers turned around and rushed toward their comrade.

“What the fuck?” one of them shouted, advancing on Rocco.

Rocco was just as astounded as they were. He certainly hadn’t shot Janks.

Another shot pierced the air, and then four more. In seconds, all six men were dead.

Rocco lowered his arms and staggered forward to put some distance between himself and the cliff's edge. He was lucky he hadn’t stumbled backward in the mayhem and fallen to his death after all.

He dropped to the ground a second later. Whoever had just shot these six drug smugglers probably wanted the drugs. They would think Rocco was one of them.

Four masked men wearing all black stepped out of hiding, all of them coming toward Rocco, who rolled over onto his back and held up his hands in surrender. “I’m not with them.”

One of the men came directly to him and offered a hand as if to help him to his feet. “We know. Rocco Thompson?”

Rocco swallowed as he took the offered hand and rose. “Yes. Who are you?”

“That doesn’t matter. What matters is that we know who you are.” The man nodded toward his three companions as they each dragged two of the fallen men to the edge of the cliff and kicked them over the precipice. They launched their gear over after them.

It all took less than fifteen seconds and left Rocco stunned and confused. He had no idea if he was safe or next on the list to die and get tossed over the edge.

The man beside him reached into his pocket and pulled out a strange gold coin. He held it out.

Rocco opened his hand and caught the coin as his rescuer dropped it into his palm. It wasn’t currency. It had no markings on it except for a swirl etched into the face. “What’s this?” he asked, lifting his gaze.

“A marker. Your benefactor will collect when he’s ready. You owe him one.” Then, he and his companions turned and left—so fast Rocco had no chance to respond or ask questions. He was left standing on the edge of a cliff in the middle of nowhere, holding the strangest gold coin he’d ever seen.

A marker? What the fuck? What would he owe someone who’d saved him?

Chapter One

Two years later…

* * *
