Lucas is in denial.
I know he possesses magical powers.

My sister says it will reveal in due time.
But I think not helping things along would be a crime.

So, I decided to do what I do best.
Create a spell to do all the rest.

A little razzle dazzle potion is needed stat.
Unfortunately it also affects the new guy in town, Matt.

Oh dear … my sister now has to babysit a man
Who thinks witches and warlocks are not part of the plan.

Power Unbinding Spell

A bit of moon dust is a must.
A sprig of hair gotten on a dare!
Add a pinch of sage spice to make everything nice.

Grind it into the finest powder and sprinkle on a dandelion flower.
Blow into the wind and let the binded powers rescind!

A Bit of Razzle Dazzle is the last novella in the Holidaze in Salem series.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Hollie

I paced back and forth, my mind whirling as I wondered what I was going to do. The front door opened and Lucas walked in. When he saw me, he came to a stop.

“What’s wrong?”

“Sarah’s in trouble.”

Lucas frowned. “What do you mean she’s in trouble?”

Sighing, I dropped onto the sofa. “I can feel it; something’s wrong. I think she needs me.”

Lucas sunk down into the chair. “I keep getting these odd feelings that we need to be back in Salem too,” he said. “I don’t know how to explain them.”

My brows shut up. Another clue! I pulled out my phone and jotted it down.

Lucas frowned. “I had the strangest dream last night that when I held the baby, I could understand his thoughts. It freaked me the hell out. I think it was because you read my mind yesterday and answered my question before I even asked it.”

“Interesting,” I mused, taking another note in my phone.

“What are you doing?”

“Making notes.”

“About?”

“Baby stuff.”

Lucas let it go, but I knew a part of him sensed that I wasn’t making notes about the baby.

“Well, I guess this is good timing then,” he said.

“What is?” I asked as I placed my hand on my belly. I was twenty weeks pregnant and finally really starting to show.

The baby moved, and I gasped. “She’s moving!”

Lucas put his hand where mine had just been. When the baby kicked again, he looked up and laughed.

“Strong kick. Has to be a boy.”

With a shake of my head, I said, “Nope. I’m telling you, it’s a girl.”

“I’m telling you, it’s a boy.”

Rolling my eyes, I changed the subject and asked, “What’s good timing?”

“I’ve been asked to go back to Salem by the mayor. Apparently, they were excavating for a new parking garage and they found an archaeological site that looks like it dates back to when Salem was colonized.”

“Oh wow! What about the dig site here?”

Lucas smiled. “We’ve discovered a lot, and it’s been fun, but I’m ready to head back home. I miss our families, and I want to be back in the states since you’re getting further along in your pregnancy.”

I hadn’t told Lucas I was homesick, but there were so many times I’d longed to see my mother, aunt, and sister. Plus, I missed Kristin and Shawn. I knew Lucas missed everyone as well.

“When are we heading back?” I asked.

“How soon can you be packed?”

We hadn’t bought much while we’d been in Ireland. The flat we rented was fully furnished, so there really wasn’t anything we’d needed to get.

“I can be packed in an hour!”

Lucas laughed. “I’ll look up tickets and book us a return flight.”

Hugging him, I felt my emotions start to bubble up. I knew it was hormones from the pregnancy. When I drew back, he wiped my tears away.

“You’ve missed home?” he asked.

I nodded. “I have.”

He placed his hand on the side of my face and ran his thumb over my cheek. “Thank you, Hollie, for standing by my side while I did this.”

I covered his hand with mine. “I’d stand by your side no matter what.”

He leaned in and kissed me. When he broke the kiss, he rested his forehead on mine. “I love you, Hollie Payton.”

Rubbing my nose against his, I replied, “I love you too.”

“Call Sarah and tell her we’re on our way.”

My phone rang, and we both laughed.

Lucas shook his head and mumbled, “Witches.”

Before I even had a chance to get out of the car, the front door to my parents’ house opened and my mother, sister, and Lucy all piled out. Sarah screamed, my mother started to cry, and Lucy waved a smudge stick all around me.

“Oh, look at you!” my mother said as she pulled me into her arms. “I’m so glad you’re home, Hollie. We’ve missed you.”

I tried to talk, but Lucy had the smudge stick practically shoved up my nose.

“Lucy!” I said, pushing her arm away. “Are you trying to make me throw up with that?”

She looked down at the smudge stick then back to me. “Of course not. I’m simply cleansing all the negativity from traveling away.”

I covered my mouth with my hand and stepped away.

“Go put it in the house, Lucy dear,” my mother said as she wrapped my arm in hers. “How was the flight over?”

“Long,” I replied, watching Lucy dash into the house to place the smudge somewhere I hoped was far away from me. “How come you’re not at the store?”

Sarah took my other arm. “Lucy and I decided we needed a day off, and what better reason than celebrating my baby sister and her little munchkin coming back home. Is she kicking a lot?”

“You think it’s a girl too?” I asked.

Shrugging, Sarah replied, “I don’t know if it is or not. I just said she.”

We both turned and looked at my mother. “Don’t look at me,” she said. “I don’t have those kinds of powers.”
They say my spells go awry.
Pish posh, it’s a lie.
I have the love of my life.
My best friend will soon be a wife.
Now it’s time to help a lad.
In the land of Ireland.
Wealth Spell –
A fourth leaf clover
A wad of cash
A money clip to store it fast
Light it on fire and repeat after me, all good will and fortune go unto thee

A Bit of Wee Luck is the third novella in a four book series. Each book ends on a small cliffy leading into the next book!

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Hollie

I stared into Lucas’s caramel eyes as he repeated for the fourth time, “A baby?”

Laughing, I nodded. “Can you only say that one word?”

Lucas blinked several times and then shook his head. “We’re having a baby?”

“Okay, you added on a few words that time,” I deadpanned.

“How?”

I raised my brows and gave him a look.

“No, I know how. I thought you were on the pill.”

“I am, but nothing is one hundred percent. I’ve never missed any and I wasn’t on any medicine that would affect it, so I guess it’s just part of our plan.” I drew my lower lip between my teeth before I asked, “Are you upset?”

“Upset?” he asked, surprised by my question. “Hell no, I’m not upset. Hollie, this is amazing. Are you okay with it? I know we never really got around to talking about when we wanted kids.”

“Or when we wanted to get married. Which—I think I’d like that to be sooner rather than later. Maybe even here in Ireland! Oh, or Scotland! I’ve always wanted to go there.”

Lucas took my hand in his and kissed the back of it, sending shivers through my entire body. “We can go and do whatever you want while we’re over here. And I’ll marry you anywhere you want, anytime you want.”

I felt my cheeks heat and had to bite the inside of my cheek so I wouldn’t say: Let’s run off and get married. Today. Instead, I replied, “I know you’re working, so I don’t expect you to take me all over the place.”

He smiled. “With what we keep finding, I might be here longer than I thought. I was going to talk to you about it.”

“Well, from what I’ve seen on the drive in from the airport, I think I’m going to love it here.” I spread my arms, taking in the room around us. “I love this little flat! And the town is adorable. It feels like we’re in the middle of nowhere, but Dublin isn’t that far away. Have you been to the pub across the street yet? It’s a real Irish pub, Lucas!”

“I know,” he said with a laugh. “I’ve been there plenty of times. A guy by the name of Benny O’Brien owns it. It was his father’s pub, and his before that, and his before that. It’s been in the family for a long time. Wait until you eat there. His mother, Sarah, is an amazing cook. Just remember that when they talk they don’t make the TH sound.”

A bubble of excitement burst in my chest as I said, “Same name as my sister! And I’m starving. Do you think we can grab something to eat there now?”

“Of course. Come on, I’ll introduce you to Benny and his family.”

Lucas took hold of my hand and helped me off the bed. “You’re not too tired? I could run over and get us some food to go.”

With a shake of my head, I replied, “I’m tired, but I really want to see the pub, even if it means I can’t drink. Let me brush my teeth and change my clothes.”

We headed out and started for the pub across the street. It was in a beautiful, old, three-story building with the name O’Brien’s on a sign out front. It was sandwiched between two other buildings, which both looked to be as old as the pub—though the one on the right was most likely the oldest.

Lucas nodded toward the building. “Benny was raised in the flat above the pub, and now he lives there with his mom and his sister.”

“It’s so cute. I love the yellow building and the red trim around the windows and doors.” I looked up at the numerous plant holders. “They must plant flowers there in the spring.”

“They do,” Lucas said as he reached for the door to open it. “It’s supposed to be beautiful in the spring with all the flowers. There’s a story behind it; I’ll tell you later.”

I smiled, and Lucas opened the door and I stepped inside. My eyes widened as I took in the old pub. Large stone floors made way to the most beautiful wooden bar I’d ever seen. The walls were covered with memorabilia and pictures, as well as some odd items that I was sure held special meaning for the O’Brien family. I glanced up and saw a boot hanging down from the ceiling. I’d loved to know the meaning behind that one. Old photos were scattered behind the bar and throughout the large space. The woodwork was unbelievable. My eyes caught on a beautiful stained-glass window to the left that looked into a small room.

“It’s so beautiful,” I whispered as we walked farther into the mostly-empty bar. I wasn’t sure what I’d been expecting, but I did assume it would be more crowded—especially since it was close to noon.

There are witches in my family.

Ever since I was a little girl, my Aunt Lucy has told the same story to me and my sister, Sarah, of how we are from a long-descended line of witches. The most famous one being our eleventh great-grandmother, Sarah Wildes, who was hung in Salem, Massachusetts, during the Salem witch trials. And the best part of the story was how Sarah was named after that famous witch. Okay, that was the best part for my sister, not for me. And that wasn’t even true. Every first-born female on my mother’s side of the family has been named Sarah, but, hey, I never argued with my aunt or sister on that little detail. Don’t worry—my mother gave my father dibs on naming the second born. Me! Thank goodness my father named me after his grandmother, Hollie. Who I might add, was not a witch. At least, I don’t think she was.

Back to the story.

My favorite part of my aunt’s story had always been that our mother married a man with the last name of Craft. According to my Aunt Lucy, it had been fate that the two of them met and fell in love. What a perfect last name for my mother. Elaine Craft. Get it? With my mother coming from a long line of witches… Hello, destiny! I’d like to introduce you to fate. I should mention, my aunt has yet to find any history of witches on my father’s side of the family. But with a name like Craft, there had to be at least one, right? At least, that was her way of thinking as well as that of my sisters. My father, Mike Craft, likes to tease that there are indeed witches in the family because everyone has a little bit of magick in them.

According to Aunt Lucy, it was meant to be that my parents met and fell in love in high school. That their love stayed strong while both went off to college, even though Aunt Lucy swears it was because my mother put a love spell on my father—which my mother has not denied, I might add, nor has she confirmed this part of the story. My father says one day, while walking down the hall on his way to first period, he spotted my mother and felt like someone sucker-punched him. He was in love from that moment on. It was a sweet gesture, and one that I had wanted to happen to me, that I believed would happen to me. Well, until I grew up and realized that events like that were few and far between.

Anyhoo, they fell in love, and today, they are the parents of three kids. The oldest, Sarah, who is thirty-three. Next, me, Hollie, twenty-nine, and last, my brother, Nathan, who just turned twenty-five. All of whom my aunt Lucy has declared as witches. Sarah is totally on board. Nathan, he’s on the fence about it all. I really think it depends on his mood. And me…well…let’s just say I stopped believing in all that hocus pocus when I realized the world wasn’t such a nice place.

But back to the witches in the family.

Let me give you a bit of history on the family. Hang with me for just a bit; I know you’re excited to hear about my little journey.

My mother’s family immigrated from Chipping Norton, a small market town west of Oxfordshire, England. Where, according to both my mother and aunt, the women of the family were rumored to hold special powers. They were healers, and if someone was sick or suffering from an ailment, they went to their herb garden and worked their…magick. Once they came to the US, they continued to be one with the earth, but this time, they wouldn’t be called healers like they had been back in England.

My father’s family was from a small seaside town called Laugharne in Dyfed. They come from a long line of fishermen. Nothing really exciting to report on Dad’s side of the family. My father is still a fisherman to this day and a damn good one. He takes people out on fishing charters and has won numerous fishing championships. We’re all proud of him, especially my mother. She adores my father, just as he does her.
