Love is hard. It’s painful and it’s about not giving up. Preacher has come this far, he’s not going to let her go now, not without a fight. Married. With a baby girl. And someone else’s woman.
Preacher doesn’t blame Robin for trying to make a life with the man who took her. Only now that she has her memory, he can see the real person beneath and she’s no longer afraid. He will protect her at all costs. She can trust him.
He will never turn his back on her. For Robin, she knows what she has to do, but walking away from Preacher is something she never wanted. Her time with his enemy—it was long, hard, and she did what she had to do. Her confusion is at an all new level.
However, what really happened to Robin? Why was she taken? Who were the men? Preacher needs to find out the truth. He needs to make sure Robin is safe. He knows he has enemies and even if he doesn't have Robin yet, he will still take care of her.
She has a choice to make. One he will make easy for her. She owns his heart and he doesn't want it back. There's no way he's letting Reaper take her. He will find out the truth and finally win back the woman he fell for, even if it means he has to give up the club to do it.
This is the concluding part of the In the Arms of Monsters trilogy
I can see why you like it so much,” Reaper said.

Preacher stared at his enemy across the room. He wanted to kill him but he couldn’t. In his whole life, he’d never desired anything as much as running the tip of his blade across the man’s throat and watching him die. This was fucking unfair and he couldn’t believe he didn’t see it coming. He should have. Two years Robin had been with this disgusting prick, and yet she was still alive. Sure, she’d been hurt when he found her, but who had she been running to, or running from?

“You better shut your fucking mouth,” Bear said.

Neither he nor Bear wanted this man near them, but they had no choice but to accept him into their home. Preacher felt sick to his stomach.

“Or what? You’re going to attack me to death with your words? Please, we all know I’m not dying tonight or anytime soon.”

“You look happy with yourself,” Bishop said.

This was just another cross for Preacher to deal with. Not only did he have Reaper, the fucking leader of Slaves to the Beast, but now he also had his own traitorous son in his home. Two people he wanted to kill more than anything. Things couldn’t get any fucking worse. They probably could, but he wasn’t going to think about that right now. Nope, as far as he was concerned, they’d already gone fucking bad. Never had he considered himself to be an optimist, but right about now, he was hoping for something, anything to make this all right. There was nothing. The need to kill was strong and building with every passing second, but he kept it at bay. This wasn’t the time nor the place to kill all the fuckers here tonight, even if they did deserve it.

“Why shouldn’t I be happy? Do you think this has been easy for me?”

“I think you’ve been pissing yourself laughing at all of us.”

“No, not at all. Believe what you want, Bear, but I happen to love your daughter.”

“Bullshit,” Bear said.

“I need a drink.” Preacher left the main sitting room, going into his office and finding the best kind of whiskey money could buy. He didn’t even bother with a glass. No, this time, he went straight to the bottle. Downing several large gulps, he closed his eyes, relishing the burn. He couldn’t handle this. There was no way Reaper loved Robin. It just couldn’t work. It shouldn’t work. The son of a bitch was a fucking monster. Robin, though, he knew from experience she had a way of getting under your skin without even trying. She didn’t see her charm, or how men wanted to protect her. He did, and even now with the revelation of a baby, he wanted nothing more than to hold her, love her, and tell her it was all going to be all right. He’d find a way.

“I’m sorry,” Bishop said.

Now his shitty night got even worse with hearing his son speak. There was a time he did love his son. Bishop was his world. Not enough to marry the kid’s mother, but enough to care. All of that had changed in the past few months, and he couldn’t believe he hadn’t killed him before.

“I suggest you get the fuck out of my sight.” He didn’t turn around to look at his son. He was holding on by a thread, a really tiny fucking piece of thread.

“I know you’re pissed.”

This time, he did look at his son and laugh. “You think this is all? I’m a little pissed?” He certainly wasn’t drunk. He’d need a hell of a lot more alcohol to even start to numb the shit going on in his brain. Of what he wanted to do to his own flesh and blood. No, Bishop wasn’t his son. There was no way a son of his would help his enemy.

“I don’t know what you’re thinking.” Bishop shrugged.

Preacher took another couple of gulps of whiskey. “Let’s start with angry. I suggest you go back to your little fuck buddy.”

“I’m not fucking Reaper.”

“You were supposed to be a Twisted Monster, you little shit. Instead, you gave her to them, and you think a little apology and pretending to give a fuck is going to make it all better?” he asked. “You think that’s all it takes?” Where did he go wrong with this kid? What did he do to have all this shit land on him the way it did? He didn’t have any answers. Being a dad had always been new to him. He knew deep down he wasn’t a good dad, but there were far worse out there.

“I made a mistake.”

“No, you royally, totally, and unforgivably fucked up.” He didn’t know how much more he could control his feelings. Everything was coming at him so fast. Between seeing the baby, the look in Robin’s eye, and knowing what Bishop had done, he was ready to wage an all-out war. His hands shook with his need to kill. It had been a long time he’d felt this way. Any other time, he’d just attacked and done whatever he felt was right, no questions asked, but right now, he was far from happy with any of this. He had an overwhelming desire to fuck something up and that anything could be his son. Right now, as he looked at Bishop, he didn’t recognize him.
Robin has been gone for two years. No matter the lead, Preacher has hunted for her. He can’t find her and admitting defeat isn’t in his nature. She’s in pain, and there’s nothing he can do to help her but sacrifice everything in vain.
When Preacher least expects it, Robin is reported alive. Badly beaten and broken, she’s in the hospital, back in their lives once again.
Only, when Robin wakes up, she doesn’t remember her identity, the club, or anything about the last two years. She has no memory of Preacher, of Bishop, nothing. Her life is a complete blank and what’s more, she knows deep down she’s hurting her loved ones.
The man who took her from Preacher is still out there. Someone close to home has helped his enemy, and Preacher knows Robin isn’t safe. Not only does he have to deal with his woman’s complete lack of memory of him and their time together, he knows his enemy will try to reclaim her.
Two years is a long time, and the memories return with a revelation Preacher isn’t prepared for. Was Robin running away from a monster?
Or was she running straight back to the man who took her—a man she may even be in love with?

Preacher stormed into his office, going straight to his desk. He stared down at the file on top, the last known picture of Robin, and threw the entire file across the room. Bear had already grabbed a bottle of whiskey and sat on his sofa, drinking.

“Now isn’t the time for losing your senses,” he said.

“Nah, well, it’s a good start seeing as we’ve got absolutely nothing else to work on. We’re dead in the water and we’ve even got Billy checking for bodies to match Robin’s description.” Bear tilted the bottle and drank deeply. “Let’s face it, we’re fucking screwed on ideas. We can’t save her. She’s gone.”

“I don’t believe that.”

“When are you going to realize you can’t save her? She’s dead, probably at the bottom of some fucking lake, or even worse, she’s been sold like a piece of cattle, Preach. Robin is gone.”

“I’m not going to give up on her!”

“It’s been two years, Preacher. When are you going to realize we’re fighting dead ends all the time? We can’t find her. She’s gone and you’re crazy to think Reaper would keep her as some kind of plaything. Do you think she’d even want to be alive now?” Bear got to his feet.

Two years.

Two fucking years Robin had been gone and he couldn’t find her. The moment Reaper disappeared, he hadn’t been able to locate her. It was like Reaper disappeared off the map and Preacher had to call in many fucking favors to try to find her again.

“I can’t give up,” he said.

“I know.” Bear looked down at his whiskey bottle. “Not a moment goes by that I don’t regret what happened. I was so focused on my own shit I didn’t see what Rebecca was doing. I figured she’d be happy being my old lady that I wouldn’t have to care,” he said. He snorted. “I should have known, really. She’d never loved me. Had only used me.”

Rebecca had been Bear’s wife and Robin’s mother. Finding out she’d sold her daughter to O’Klaren to get rid of her, they’d ended Rebecca’s life, but it hadn’t been an easy death. Alongside O’Klaren, they’d tortured Rebecca. Both them had begged for their lives but he hadn’t given in to them.

He’d waited, and only when he had to go on another lead did he allow them to die. They had both deserved what was coming to them. None of it had given him any real pleasure though. The pain of losing Robin had been too hard to bear. Until the end, O’Klaren and Rebecca had been useless to him.

Neither of them had known Reaper’s plans. They thought the rival biker had lost interest because Robin lost the baby, but like always, Reaper had other plans. Once again, he knew he should have killed that fucker years ago. It would have been too kind of a death.

Running his fingers through his hair, he realized he hadn’t cut it in two years. He didn’t want to think about the last time he’d gotten his hair cut. Robin had been the one to do it.

With Robin gone, he’d laid all his cards on the table to Bear. His best friend, his VP, he knew the entire truth of his feelings for Robin. Feelings he’d never gotten to tell her. She’d been gone before he’d even whispered I love you. So much time wasted. So fucking useless.

“I’m not going to give up on her. I can’t.”

“You’re fighting a fool’s errand, Preach. Robin is gone. You’ve got to learn to accept it.” Bear grabbed another glass, filling it with whiskey. “Come, have a drink with me.”

“I don’t want to drink.”

“You’re going to throw useless files all around the room? Will it make you feel tough doing some shit like that?”

“It’s not going to make me feel anything. I just … fuck…” He grabbed the glass from Bear and took a seat opposite him. Swallowing a mouthful, he relished the burn. For two years, he’d been spending every single useless mission at the bottom of a glass even though he vowed never to take another drop after what Milly did to him and Robin. Still, the alcohol didn’t help him. It didn’t even give him a chance to forget her. Robin was always there, a part of him. The women knew not to come near him. Most of the guys also gave him a wide berth. Between running the club, his usual business, and now finding Robin, he was stretched thin. He couldn’t give up on the club to follow every single lead. He had other men do it, even though he knew they didn’t want to.

“She’s not gone.”

“I hate to see you like this, man. You know it’s not healthy. I tell you every single time not to allow yourself to be broken by what’s going to happen.”

Love is not easy. It’s hard, painful, and this is how ours started, but it’s certainly not how it’s going to end. For Preacher, taking care of his club is all he’s known. He fought for his position, and he’ll keep it at all costs. He may be a shit father to his son, Bishop, but he doesn’t need to be a father to run the club.
Robin is the daughter of the VP. She knows her place within the club is closely tied to Preacher’s son. They’ve been best friends forever, but she doesn’t want a future with Bishop. She doesn’t know what she does want, though.
When one of the club women is determined to ruin her life, Robin doesn’t see it coming. Now she’s pregnant, and the father—she doesn’t know how to tell him, because the truth could ruin the entire club.
When Preacher learns the truth of what happened, he has to handle it, even with a cop breathing down his neck, waiting for the perfect moment to take him out.
But nothing goes according to plan. Not with the pregnancy, not with Robin. He doesn’t believe in love, but Robin has awakened something within him, and he can’t stop it. He wants it, even if … love is never easy.
No, actual vermin are easy to kill, and I don’t mind them. Not when they’re cleaning up the trash. You see, the thing about rats, their teeth are constantly growing. Needing to chew their way through things because the length of their teeth, it drives them crazy.” He chuckled.

“Preacher, please.”

“You know what I also love about actual rats? They can tell you when certain disasters are happening. They will literally run away from any sign of danger.” He didn’t know if this was accurate or not. He’d never taken the time to watch rats. If he saw them, he killed them, simple as that. Only rodents got an easier death than most human rats. He tutted. “You know what, Phillip? You are such a disappointment to me.”

Phillip whimpered as Preacher ran the blade across the front of his mouth.

“Stick out your tongue.”

“What? Why?”

“Stick out your fucking tongue.”

Preacher didn’t need to ask a third time. Phillip, sobbing, stuck out his tongue, and without care, Preacher slid the blade across it, slicing it off in one sharp swipe. Screams filled the room, and Preacher stepped back as the blood began to soak down Phillip’s body. He stared at the single piece of flesh.

“You should be thanking me for this. This right here, it got you in trouble, and I’ve dealt with it. You don’t ever have to worry about it again.”

The screams continued to fill the abandoned garage station, and Preacher stuck the severed tongue into a bag. It would help serve as a lesson to others. Not that Phillip would ever be walking out of the garage alive. Nope.

No rat had ever left Preacher’s company alive, unless he wanted to send a message, and then when their job was done, he took care of them in any of several different ways.

Phillip was of no use to him. He wasn’t worth making the effort to send him out into the world. He was a piece of shit as far as the club was concerned. The moment he decided to go and help the other club, it had cemented Phillip’s death sentence. It was a good job Preacher had some people on the police force who’d happened to see him going into enemy territory.

“You know, I hate to state the obvious, but this didn’t have to happen.”

Staring into Phillip’s soon-to-be-dead eyes, Preacher waited as Phillip started to scream, but without his tongue it sounded more like a gurgle.

He tutted. “Keep on screaming. Where you are right now, it’s abandoned. The place doesn’t even have a name. It’s nowhere. There was a time it was someplace. A small town, peaceful, idyllic. The kind of place people raise their kids. A small school. A library. There was even a garage and a gas station. A diner. You know, the usual things that help a town, but I believe this was home to, like, four hundred people, and when they built the highway to pass a few miles away from here, no one visited. The town dried up. People had no choice but to move away. No one cared about this world anymore. It sucked for way too many people.” He shrugged. “A good old ghost town. It’s what it is called now. Some people believe the old tales that it’s haunted by the dead residents.” Preacher burst out laughing. “If anything, it’s haunted by the people I’ve killed here. Believe me, there have been a few. It’s so easy to do. No one around to hear screams, and if anyone is lost and passing through, the rumors keep people running on their merry way out of the fucking town. Now, Phillip, you were a good little soldier for a while, but like many good little soldiers, you got way too greedy, and because of that, you’re heading into trouble. So much trouble. You do know you’re not leaving here alive. There’s no way I can let that happen.” Preacher sat back down on the chair, straddling it. “You went to the Slaves of the Beast MC, and I can’t have that. I don’t like the stories you told them. My plans. My club. Even the schedule of my boy. I’m not going to deny he’s a fucking idiot, and there are times I swear he is not my blood, but I got that fucker tested the moment the whore spat him out, and he is indeed mine. Now, I’m cleaning up your mess.”

Phillip started to cry.

Phillip’s wife and kid would be returning home to finding a nice large pile of cash, a note, and a chance at a life without being beaten black and blue every damn day.
