I come from world filled with violence, death, and impossible choices. I’ve only backed down from fight once, and that left me with pain and regret. But now, I have chance to balance scales. I’m known as most dangerous member of Salvation’s Bane MC. But truth is, beneath tough exterior, I’m still a scared young woman running from monsters, trying to protect those I love. That fear ends today. Only problem? Biker named Piston. Doesn’t know meaning of personal space. He’s always there, watching me, protecting me, and even though I’d never admit it, his presence brings strange sense of peace. He makes me want things I can never have.

For more than a decade, I’ve been Venus’s silent protector. In the shadows, I’ve watched her, stalking her every move. When she settled in Palm Beach with Salvation’s Bane, I made sure to be close by. I keep an eye on her, guarding her, even if she doesn’t realize it. But when an enemy from her past threatens her, I step out of the shadows. Venus is on the hunt, and the monster she’s chasing has awakened the beast in me. I protect what’s mine. And Venus? She’s mine.

Author’s Venus’ first person narrative is written in heavily accented English. Articles (the, a, an) do not exist in Russian language.

Shortly After Lemon’s Kidnapping…

“Are you sure you know where you’re going?” Piston, annoying bastard, was like gnat buzzing around my head. I could bat him away, but he kept coming back for more. So I chose to ignore him.

It was dead of night with waning crescent moon. Cloud cover made even that light minimal. Ripper and Wylde, with Salvation’s Bane MC and Iron Tzars MC, had been working on finding Victor Zaitsev ever since Victor’s men nabbed Lemon thinking she was me. But I’d been searching for that motherfucker long before Lemon’s abduction. Twenty years longer. Since before my sister, Millie, met and attached herself to Shadow from Bones MC. Before me, Millie, and Shadow made it back from Poland with our little sister, Katya. Why? Because he is bastard who needs to die.

Victor forced me into a splinter of FSB. Which is basically same as KGB. Just different letters. And not as open about their heavy handedness. His intention was to have someone on inside to keep him out of trouble. Once in the FSB, though, they made me into something… more. One of many killers, but even more than that. I was their secret asset. The assassin to send when all others failed. Training was brutal. Work, even more so. I became very good at what they tasked me with. Too good.

“If you’re not sure, I can always call in backup.”

Fucking Piston. He knew very well I didn’t need backup. He wanted me to engage with him and I refused. Instead of taking hint, Piston kept coming back for more. Like gnat I thought of before.

“Too many people here as it is,” I muttered, never taking my eyes off my target. We were in middle of nowhere, Western Montana. It was privately owned stretch of forest land over thousand square miles. Small cabin sat in middle of woods as out of place as hunting cabin in middle of suburbia. While able to fall off grid, whoever built it would still have comforts of good old U. S. of A. Roughing it, this place was not. More like rich man’s idea of roughing it. There were even solar panels set up outside cabin along with gas tank.

Piston said nothing. Just put his field glasses to his face and surveyed area in direction I was looking. “Never met a woman as prickly as you.”

“Never met man who can’t take hint like you. If you can’t see target, stay out of my way. Last thing I need is to have to tell Rocket I killed you because you were stupid.”

That shut him up. Of course, Piston was just as likely to be smirking at me as he was to be angry with me for my outburst. I could have glanced at him to find out, but I could just make out silhouette of man in open window of cabin.

I dressed head to toe in pink. Every day. Hair, nails, clothing, even my bike was pink. It had been my pink Harley that had made Victor’s men believe Lemon was me. But reason I did was because I had to wear pink contacts. I had to wear pink contacts because contacts themselves were sophisticated surveillance equipment that enhanced my vision in both bright and dark conditions. Is long explanation, but basically, I could see like spy camera. I could zoom in or pan out as long as something was in my field of vision. Came in handy in combat. And spying. Only problem was they tinted my eyes bright pink. So, all the unnecessary pink was to conceal the necessary pink.

And no. The FSB didn’t have such things. I got them from man who helped me once. I helped him back until the balance tipped in my favor. Now, he is one of very few people outside of motorcycle clubs I’ve worked with I can call friend. No, it was more than that. All those men and women were sem’ya. Family. Giovanni Romano was too. Not that’d I’d ever tell him that. Man was too arrogant as it was.

“Oh, I can see it fine. I’m just hopin’ and prayin’ to the sweet baby Jesus in the manger you don’t honestly believe it’s gonna be this easy to catch this fucker.”

I didn’t acknowledge Piston, but I had same concern he did. I could see Victor in that house. Just by small window in front. This situation was most definitely a set up. From this angle I couldn’t see anything obvious, so I’d have to prepare for the unobvious.

“Stay out of my way, Piston.” I put as much command and venom in my voice as I could, hoping stubborn bastard would understand I meant business. “No one asked you to come along. I’ve been doing this by myself for very long time.”

“Surprised you lasted a week without a keeper.” I could hear amusement in his voice and wanted to scratch his eyeballs out. Something else about me to stick out. My fingernails were filed into nearly razor-sharp two-inch-long daggers. Pink, of course. I used them like weapons they were. Just as I was trained.
Apple -- I gave Deacon my heart, but he said I was too young. So he left. For over a year. Didn’t want me around. Hurt and humiliated, I left for Grim Road MC. If anyone will understand my need to hide and lick my wounds for a while, it’ll be my sister Lemon. Of course, Lemon’s also a royal bitch. When I get shot, first thing she does is call Deacon -- the last person I ever want to see again. Then she sicces him on the man who ordered the hit. Not sure who I’m gonna kill first -- Deacon, or Lemon.

Deacon -- All I ever wanted was to keep Apple safe. To protect her. Mostly from me. When my president sent me to infiltrate a trafficking ring, I gladly accepted the assignment. I thought once I was gone, Apple’d have time to grow up. Fall in love with someone her own age. Someone better. Then my enemies went after Apple. When Lemon tells me she’s been shot, her call pushes me over the edge. Now, I’m going to unleash hell. Maybe then, Apple will forgive me for pushing her away.

One Year Ago

I was so nervous I thought I might throw up. Deacon had promised to make me his old lady when I turned eighteen. That birthday had been exactly a year ago, and still he kept putting me off. Tonight, I planned on making him follow through. I knew he thought I needed time to grow up, get some life experience under my belt but I knew I wanted to be with Deacon.

I raised my hand and knocked on Deacon’s door before I could change my mind again. He still lived in the clubhouse, though Sting had given him his own house in anticipation of him claiming me. We’d decorated it together, but he hadn’t moved in and I hadn’t either. I wasn’t sure what he was waiting on, but it seemed like he was reluctant to take that last step. It wasn’t that I thought he didn’t want me so much as it felt like he was pulling back, yet holding me tight all at the same time.

Seconds later, Deacon opened the door.

“Hi, baby.” He grinned at me, stepping back so I could enter. He shut and locked the door, then turned around and opened his arms to me. “Come here.”

I grinned, leaping into his arms and wrapping my legs around his waist. Deacon found my lips with his and kissed me like he meant it. It was all I could do to contain my excited squeal. This was it. Tonight. I wanted this with everything in me!

Deacon thrust his tongue between my lips expertly, making my belly quiver and my pussy ache. I think I’d loved Deacon from the first moment I met him. I’d let him think me and Lemon were eighteen and he’d gotten just past first base. Or, rather, I guess I should say I’d gotten just past first base with him. Because Deacon had known something was up and kept things pretty simple. Yeah. That had gotten me a good lecture.

Being in his arms was like the beginning of a beautiful adventure. I was so excited to finally be able to follow him where I thought we both wanted to go. I wasn’t naive enough to think he’d been a saint. The man was in his late twenties, and I’d just turned nineteen. I wanted him to show me everything. Where he led, I followed.

“You always taste so sweet, Applejack.” I had to smile at his nickname for me. Only he called me that, and only in private. It was ours.

“Mmm…” I lost any doubt Deacon loved me with one sweep of his tongue. His arms were so strong around me, like armor keeping the whole world out if I didn’t want it inside.

I could feel his cock pressed against his jeans, rubbing against my clit with every move we made. For the first time, I embraced all the sensations of pleasure and need and hunger roiling inside me. Always before, I knew we had to stop. I wasn’t old enough and Deacon was too good a man to have claimed me before I was. But today…

“I don’t want to wait, Deacon,” I whispered. “Not anymore.”

“Me neither, baby. But I’ve gotta give you your property patch in front of the club. You also gotta get inked.”

“But --” He silenced me with a kiss before laying me down on the bed and covering me with his heavy body. His actions belied his words. I found the ridge of his cock and rubbed myself against him.

“No, Apple.” His tone was stern, but he continued to kiss me, nipping at my jaw and neck before placing a lingering kiss to the swell of my breast. He stood, reaching for me and pulling me to my feet. “Not until I give you the vest.” He grinned. “And not in the clubhouse. We’re goin’ home.” He cupped my face and kissed me once more before unlocking the door and pulling me after him back to the common room.

Deacon grinned, draping an arm over my shoulders possessively. He looked proud to have me with him. Several of the guys clapped him on the shoulder good-naturedly and gave me a nod of acknowledgement. The Iron Tzars might be as wild as any other MC, but they were respectful of their women. Besides, everyone knew Lemon would have their balls if they weren’t. Also, Wylde would likely have done his worst. He might be the tech guy, but Wylde was more than what he showed on the surface.

“Deacon!” Roman called to him from across the room. The party had started, though the place was more sedate than I’d seen in the past. Especially since me and Lemon were the guests of honor, so to speak. I was sure that was why there were only a couple of club girls in the area, and they were there strictly to keep the food coming when Iris told them.
Spring Break turned into my worst nightmare. Drugged and held against my will, the brutality I witness seems too horrible to be real. Unable to escape, unable to do anything other than await my fate, I nearly gave up hope. Then he burst through the door like an avenging angel. My very own angel of death.

I’m a straight-up killer. It’s what I’ve trained for my entire adult life. I got my road name because I’ve put more men in the morgue than all my brothers combined. So when we rescue a group of women being held by human traffickers, I did what I do best. I killed. But not for all the women we rescued. For her. Dorothy. My very own angel of mercy. Now that I have her, I’ll do anything to keep her. I just hope she can accept what I am and not condemn my soul to hell.

Morgue includes scenes of graphic violence and adult situations including those that may be triggers for some readers. There’s also a protective hero, a determined heroine, and an eventual happy ending. No cheating, as always.

I knew the feeling. My head throbbed and every muscle in my body ached. The rooms were paper thin so we could all hear the screams of the others around us. The cruel laughter of men. The frightened whimpers of the women. And girls. I had absolutely no idea where I was or how long I’d been there, but I knew it wasn’t Kansas.

“Levántate, perra. Afuera.”

“I don’t understand.” It wasn’t a new thing. And I’d paid for not knowing Spanish more than once since I’d been taken.

“¡Ahora!” The guy knew I didn’t understand. It felt like he took pleasure in the fact I didn’t understand so he could single me out. I shrank back, trying to make myself smaller in the face of the brutality I knew was about to happen. He lunged forward and backhanded me before grabbing my arm and shoving me out of the tiny room I shared with five other girls.

I hit the floor, my knees slamming onto the hard dirt. Pain shot from my knees up my thighs, and I cried out. When I tried to get up, the guy kicked me in the side. My head spun with all the sudden movements. I thought it was also some kind of lingering effect of the drugs they kept shooting me full of. They did it to everyone who fought. Unless they wanted us to fight. I got dosed often.

“Perra estúpida,” he muttered. I got the “stupid” part, and I could only assume the other was “bitch,” but it could have been anything. The kick knocked the breath out of me and sent pain exploding through my ribs. I groaned but knew better than to make too much of a fuss. Noise drew attention I didn’t want. Attention meant someone was about to hurt me worse than I already was.

“¡Escuchen!” The big brute swept his hand through the air, obviously wanting everyone’s attention. He spoke in a string of rapid-fire Spanish I didn’t understand. I was pretty sure something horrible was about to happen and I sincerely hoped it didn’t have anything to do with me. I’d been here maybe a week. Seemed like longer. I was surprised this guy or the men and women with him hadn’t done more than terrorize me or the other women. Though I was sure the qualifier “yet” needed to be added. There was no way they’d brought us here for tantalizing conversation. Though I’d been smacked around a lot and was covered in bruises, they hadn’t seriously harmed me. Again, there was that fucking qualifier hanging over my head.

I crawled very slowly to the wall where the other women were, trying not to make sudden moves so he didn’t bring his focus back to me. The one thing I knew for sure -- in spite of the language barrier -- was that I absolutely did not want any of these men to focus on me for too long.

All the women around me were whimpering and trembling, looking as terrified as I felt. A few looked like they might have checked out and I didn’t blame them. If I knew how, I probably would too. Fighting back didn’t seem like the smart thing to do if I wanted to live. While I knew there were fates worse than death, I wasn’t ready to contemplate them just yet. I was sure, at some point, I’d have to face that decision, and I wasn’t looking forward to it.

More rapid-fire Spanish followed as one of the other men dragged a young woman down the hall and tossed her to the ground so she skidded several feet before rolling to her knees with a whimper. She’d been beaten, one side of her face swollen. I hadn’t seen her before, but, given the track marks on her arms and how badly she’d been beaten, I was certain she’d attempted to escape. They’d likely dosed her as much as they’d dosed the rest of us when we got out of line. Only, this time, I got the impression this guy was done taking shit.

“Esto es lo que les pasa a las perras que no me obedecen. Si no me obedeces, esto te pasará.”

I didn’t understand. But I didn’t have to. The next thing I knew, he’d drawn out a machete. The girl screamed and tried to scramble back only to be held in place by two more men. A third helped them wrestle her to the ground onto her back. Once they had her down, the third guy held her legs at the ankles. There was a whoosh as the blade cut through the air and came down on her right thigh.

Blood arced when he raised the machete and brought it down again on the same leg. It took three more tries before he hacked her leg off and started on the other one. Everyone screamed, myself included. When anyone turned away, there were men to force them to turn back. And watch.
Danica -- Wylde’s an incorrigible flirt. I know he acts like he’s a player, but I’ve seen another side of him. Kids from all over the area flock to him because he’s Wylde -- the guru of all things electronic. He has endless patience with the teens looking to learn his skill in video games, but he has none with adults. I love his twisted, sarcastic sense of humor, and that streak of protectiveness he shows on occasion. He’s wicked smart and I love watching him use his intelligence and his wit. Plus he’s hotter than sin. So I flirt back. Wylde -- I’ve got it bad. I come to the coffee shop just to be near Danica. The tiny barista has more heart than most people I’ve met. But she’s the kind of woman who’ll want forever, and that’s not me. But when I realize the danger she and her sisters are in, I’ll do whatever’s necessary to keep them safe. Once Danica knows what I’m capable of, I know she’ll run screaming into the night, and I’ll never see her again.

Wylde features a protective hero, a determined heroine and includes graphic violence and adult situations that may be triggers for some readers. Eventual happy ending and no cheating, as always. Copyright All Changeling Press LLC Publications and Cover Art is Copyright and may not be used in any AI generated work.
The line behind me groaned.

One guy grumbled from behind me, “Some of us got places to be!”

“Yeah,” someone else volunteered. “You shouldn’t get something so complicated when the line’s so long.”

I just grinned, loving the disgruntled mutterings. Did my heart good. “It’s amazing what you can wait for when you’re, you know, early. My recommendation to people in a hurry is to start earlier. Then you’re not in such a rush.” I leaned in over the counter for a stage whisper at the woman getting ready to serve me. “Too much stress can lead to gas.”

The young woman gave me a star struck smile, eating me up with her eyes and actually licking her lips. What can I say? I have that effect on women. Even if this one was a little young for my tastes.

“That was a… double… uh… and vanilla… decaf?” She graced me with a dreamy smile. The girl had no clue what she was doing, but I wasn’t about to push her. Mainly because I saw the one person in the whole place who could make this situation better.

Danica James stepped behind the counter as she tied her apron around her slender waist. She rolled her eyes, giving me a look that said I was being a drama queen again. Instead of saying anything, she pulled out a big mug with the coffee shop’s logo on it and filled it full of black coffee.

“Anything else, Wylde?”

I grinned as I paid for the cup and the coffee. “Nope. Thanks, Danica.”

She raised an eyebrow, glancing at the tip jar pointedly. “Just put the tip in, Wylde. See how it feels.”

Yeah, we had a thing going. And I always waited until she said it before I put in my tip. She always said it.

“What? Is that it?”

“Asshole.”

Yeah, the groans behind me were amusing as shit.

“You’re welcome.” I threw up a hand and headed back to my table where I’d set up my laptop for the morning. I loved coming here. Not for the glacially slow Internet or the stimulating company that amused me so much. Hell, I didn’t even come for the coffee, though it was the best in town. No. I came for Danica James.

The woman was sin and sex with a snarky attitude. She knew my drink as well as my moods and accommodated both. If I were the kind of man looking for a woman for my own, it would probably be Danica. Not only was she beautiful and sassy, but she was kind, as well. I’d seen her giving out the leftover pastries to a few homeless people who hung out a couple of blocks from Henry’s Coffee Shop on multiple occasions. I’d also seen her paying for them out of her tips so her boss didn’t get in a twist. I made sure to contribute as much as I could and not look like a creepy stalker. I also was pretty sure she knew what I was doing.

An hour later, I was banging away on a Discord channel I frequented, helping noobs learn to play Fortnite. The other barista approached me, a big smile on her face. She’d loosened a couple of buttons on her top so I had a good view of her cleavage. Which, I admit, was a pretty good view. But she wasn’t my style. Mainly because she was star struck by my good looks, tattoos, and quite possibly my Titan GT77, but I didn’t think so. She might surprise me, but didn’t strike me as the computer geek type.

“Hey, Wylde.” She smiled and set a large black coffee next to my empty mug. “Want me to freshen up your mug?”

I glanced at the cup she’d just set in front of me. “I think I’m good. I’ll come to the bar if I need something.” I smiled to take the sting out, but honestly, I could care less if she got offended. She wasn’t stupid… exactly… she was just young and thought she could lead guys around by their dicks. I’d seen it a few times since she started. I’d also overheard her telling her girlfriends she could get me into bed with a crook of her finger. I had to chuckle at that.

Her smile faltered. “I was just being nice.”

I sighed and looked up from the chat session I was in. Normally, I’d have my headphones on using voice chat, but it was crowded and I didn’t want to disturb anyone. I could be a bastard, but I wasn’t a complete asshole. Most of the time.

“Look, kid. I’m sure you’re nice and all, but you ain’t my type. Tell your friends I’m gay or something if you think it will help you save face. But I’m not interested. ‘K?”
Scarlet -- I left Florida and Grim Road, my father’s club, with Hammer, believing he loved me. But Hammer turned out to be a monster, brutalizing me at every turn. He’s using my sisters as leverage to control me. I’ve got to find a way out, even if that means sacrificing myself to save them. Though I’m eighteen, and still in high school, there’s no one I can tell. Except my friend Lemon, whose dad is in the Iron Tzars MC. When the club comes to rescue me, it’s almost too late. But then there’s Mars, holding me tight and keeping my nightmares away. He’s everything I’ve ever wanted. He makes me feel safe. But he has his own demons… and I’m not sure which of us needs saving most.

Mars -- l have demons from my past I can’t overcome. Mostly I’m reasonably sane, but if I have a flashback, the likelihood of someone getting hurt is more than I can stomach. But when I see Hammer terrorizing the young woman he claims is his, I know I can’t stand by and watch. I’m not what she needs, but when her daddy’s club comes in hell bent on taking her home, I realize just how much she means to me, and I will never let her go. She’s mine to protect. Mine to hold. And maybe, just maybe, she’s the one to save me from myself.

Mars includes scenes of graphic violence and adult situations including suicide and graphic description of torture that may be triggers for some readers. Her sister, Lemon, on the other hand… Yeah. Tart didn’t even begin to cover it. But I really liked both of them.

“Thanks.” I smiled at both girls. “I appreciate it.”

“Seems like a strange move,” Lemon commented, looking at me funny. Both twins were wicked smart, but Lemon really knew how to keep someone off balance. Like now.

“Strange move?” I smiled, probably looking like an idiot because I had no idea what she was talking about. What was strange?

“You know. The move. From Riviera Beach, Florida to Evansville, Indiana. Since you have no family here or anything. Seems like a strange move.”

I shrugged. “My… uh… boyfriend. He wanted to move away until we got married.” I gave them my brightest smile. “We have to wait until after I graduate, but he thought it would be best if we got away from my dad’s, err… well, my family.”

Lemon frowned. “I see.”

Apple just shrugged it off. “I’ve got a boyfriend, too. We’re waiting until I turn eighteen to actually date, but I’m betting my mom and dad will want me to wait until I graduate.” Her smile was nearly as bright as mine but genuine. “His name’s Deacon. He’s --”

“Apple.” Lemon nudged her sister. They gave each other a look. Apple ducked her head and her cheeks flushed.

“Sorry. It’s kind of a long story.”

“It’s OK. My story is probably just as long.” Or longer. I felt my smile slip but tried to keep from looking at the door. School had let out ten minutes before. Everyone was leaving either on the buses, with their parents, or in their cars. I could drive, but Hammer made a point to always pick me up from school. In the beginning, it had been sweet, if unnecessary. Now… things had changed. He’d sold my car so I had nothing to drive. And I was more than a little frightened of Hammer. It wasn’t anything overt, but I could sense something had changed. The feeling had been building since we’d moved to Evansville.

“We better go.” Lemon took her sister by the upper arm. “See you tomorrow, Scarlet.”

“Bye.” Apple waved, still giving me that cheery smile of hers.

“Take care, guys.” I waved as I hurried out to the parking lot where Hammer was waiting on his big Harley.

Hammer revved the engine as he saw me approaching. My heart rate increased, but not for the reasons it should. The sound the Harley made when he used it to get my attention never failed to make me nervous because that meant Hammer was getting impatient. I plastered a smile on my face and climbed onto the back of the bike, wrapping my arms tightly around his waist. He smelled of cigarette smoke and whiskey, a combination that made me faintly nauseated.

“Everything OK?” I asked hesitantly.

His eyes flicked toward me before quickly averting away. “Yeah, ‘course. Should somethin’ be wrong? You done somethin’ you know’s gonna piss me off?”

I swallowed hard, trying to push down the fear that was suddenly threatening to consume me. “No, of course not.”

“Good.” He let out a heavy breath like he was supremely disappointed in me, then peeled out of the parking lot. The wind whipping against my face prevented any further conversation, thank God.

As we made our way home, I knew I trembled against him. I also knew he loved to keep me on edge. The more frightened of him I was, the better he seemed to like it.

Hammer pulled the bike into our driveway and turned the engine off. I dismounted, stumbling to regain my balance. He watched me, a sneer flickering across his face before disappearing just as quickly.

“Go inside,” he ordered, jerking his head toward the front door. “I’ll be in in a bit. Got shit to do.” He pointed a finger at me. “You better fuckin’ be here when I get back.”

I nodded numbly, feeling like a puppet whose strings were being pulled by a cruel master. Since my dad had decided I was going to be Hammer’s woman, Hammer had been very possessive, but once we moved to Evansville he had become even more controlling. I didn’t think my dad would approve of the way he treated me, but when Hammer requested to move us to Evansville until I’d graduated, my dad hadn’t told him no.

Now, every day was a nightmare for me. The only solace I got was when I went to school and even that was a trial. Hammer had uprooted me in the middle of the school year, telling my dad I needed time away from the club so we could get to know each other better. Dad hadn’t really seemed to like it, but when I hadn’t protested he’d let us go. Probably because I was already old enough to be Hammer’s old lady, but I’d wanted to finish high school before settling into that role.
Odette -- My life has gone down the toilet. I accidentally got myself involved with a married man and had an… accident. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t love the cheating bastard, but I hate that I got played. Naturally I did what any self-respecting eighteen year old would do. I went to a karaoke bar and got wasted. Not my finest moment. So, when I land in the arms of a man I’ve fantasized over for the past two years, I’m not even surprised. My luck is just that bad. Cyrus -- The first time I met Odette she was only sixteen and already more trouble than I knew what to do with. She’d been about to make a mistake with a prospect from her brother’s club when I intervened. The next time I see her, two years later, she’s singing like an angel, drunk off her ass. I have to get her out of that bar. Taking her home with me to our club doctor feels like the right thing to do. Deciding she’s mine to care for and protect might make me a possessive bastard, but I don’t like the word no so I’m not giving her the chance to object. Graphic violence and adult situations that may be triggers for some readers. Features a protective hero and a determined heroine. Eventual happy ending and NO cheating, as always.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter One

Cyrus

“I can’t understand why this amuses you.” I was sitting with Blaze and Wylde in a bar a couple towns over from Evansville. It was karaoke night. Which was basically grown men and women, drunk off their ass, singing off-key and off-beat. Some people laughed, others whooped and clapped. I was at a complete loss as to what to do. Though, I now understood why people drank. If I did, I’d be drinking now. Heavily.

“It’s laughing with each other and thinking how bad that person was and that you can do better. Only to get up on stage and do just as bad or worse.” Wylde grinned at me as he explained. The bastard always loved explaining social nuances he knew I’d never get otherwise. It pissed me off sometimes because I knew he was having fun at my expense, but I was oddly grateful for the explanation. Not that I’d ever admit that. “Think of it as male bonding with both men and women.”

“Seems like it’s grown adults making fools of themselves.” I winced as someone made a particularly horrible noise from the stage.

“Exactly!” Wylde was excited, almost like a kid. This was one of his favorite things to do. He always wrangled someone to go with him so he could drink. Of all the men in Iron Tzars, Wylde puzzled me the most. He was ruthless when it came to hunting people he considered “bad guys,” but otherwise obeyed the law to the letter. I didn’t understand him. “But that’s not why we’re here.”

I pinched the bridge of my nose with my thumb and finger. I felt a nauseating headache coming on. “Then why the fuck are we here?”

“Just wait. Trust me when I tell you it will be worth the wait.” Wylde actually looked gleeful. What the fuck was he up to?

“He’s been talking about this for two weeks, Cyrus.” Blaze tossed back a couple peanuts from the bucket on our table. “I’m actually anxious to find out what all the fuss is over.” Blaze signaled our server that he and Wylde needed more beer. I took another cup of coffee.

“Well, he’s got ten more minutes, then I’m outta here. You guys can either come with me or find your own Goddamned way home.”

“I’d almost forgotten what an asshole you are, Cyrus.” Wylde didn’t look mad. Strangely, he looked amused.

“Never claimed to be anything but.”

Wylde just grinned and took another pull from his beer. “You, my friend, are getting ready to be knocked on your ass.”

With a roll of my eyes, I took a sip of the coffee in front of me. How was this even my life right now? Wylde had coerced me and Blaze into coming with him. Blaze was having a blast. Wylde too, obviously. This was a special kind of hell for me. I didn’t deal with crowds on the best of days, and drunken, singing crowds made me want to run from the room screaming with my hands over my ears.

Wylde actually looked like a kid who’d been let loose in a candy store with a hundred dollars. He was practically rubbing his hands together with glee.

“I’ve got a bad feeling about this,” Blaze said with a chuckle.

“Trust me.” Wylde grinned at the other man. “You’re gonna be glad you came.” Then he burst out laughing.

“You’re drunk.” I ground my teeth. This was yet another reason I hated coming to shit like this. The guys knew I didn’t drink and always wanted me to go because I was guaranteed to be the designated driver.
Nyla — Held captive by a monster, I’ve been forced to service my owner’s colleagues while I spied for him. Being really good at my job got me some perks, and Milo treated me better than some — until the day he caught me in the wrong place at the wrong time. Then my nightmares really began. First chance I get, I run. Straight into the big biker they call Eagle. I don’t want to, but I’m falling hard. He swears he’ll protect me with his life, and that’s just what I’m afraid of. No one runs from Milo… and lives.

Eagle — I have issues. The kind that make me a good person to avoid. Even the club whores stay away from me. My brothers keep a close eye on me, and they shield innocent people from me as much as they can — until a slip of a woman comes crashing into my life. Beaten and broken, scared out of her mind, she calls to me, soothes the savage beast. She makes me want to believe in love. But when Milo comes after Nyla and threatens my club, I know I’ll do whatever it takes to protect her. And I’ll claim her, even if she can never accept my darker side.

WARNING: Graphic violence, adult situations, and references to human trafficking and domestic abuse that may be triggers for some readers. Features a protective hero and a determined heroine. Eventual happy ending and NO cheating, as always.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter One

Eagle

Guard duty. Fuck. When there was a raging party going on with naked club whores all over the Goddamned place. Normally, I’d pass, but I just came back from helping a service buddy clean up a sex trafficking warehouse, and I needed to get the filthy taste outta my mouth. We fucked our girls hard, but they were all ready and willing. They chose to be here and always had the power to say no. Guard duty was the very last thing I wanted to be doing.

“Don’t even think about wandering off, Eagle. You’re stuck here for a reason.” Blaze pushed off from where he leaned against the gate. We’d grown up together and the man could almost read my mind at times. He also knew I had a temper on me.

“Never said I was gonna,” I grumbled, knowing that was exactly what I intended on doing the first chance I got.

“Yep. I’m here with you because everyone knows you were on edge when you came back from Grim Road’s little foray. Everyone knows how you are after a situation like that. You need to let off steam before you’re fit for decent company.”

“This is not lettin’ off steam, you motherfucker.” My growl had no heat in it. Mainly because I knew he was right.

“Nope. Since Walker wasn’t available to take you huntin’ for a couple weeks, it’s become my job to find another way for you to loosen up.”

I scowled at Blaze. “I don’t need no Goddamned babysitter!”

“No. You need a couple weeks in the woods. Or a night or two in the fights. Otherwise, you end up gettin’ too rough with the girls, and they’re used to rough. As much as they usually love your brand of fuckin’, I guaran-damn-tee you ain’t a one of ‘em willin’ to take you on tonight.”

I got it. I could be a handful when I was this wound up. “Still don’t need no fuckin’ babysitter.”

“Ain’t babysittin’ ya. Just watchin’ out for my brother.” Blaze gripped my shoulder once before lighting his pipe. Man smoked homegrown tobacco. Smelled good but was strong as shit. The scent was soothing, though. Still not as good as beating the shit outta someone. Or hunting in the woods. I’d go to the woods by myself but the last time I did I was gone over a month. When Walker finally found me, I was damned near a wild man. Lost in my own mind, the violence in my past completely overtaking me. It was why I didn’t normally go on runs like the one I had with Grim Road. Only reason I had gone on this job was that I owed Rocket a whole hell of a lot from our time in the service.

I was about to walk around the front part of the compound when I heard a strangled sob and the soft patting of bare feet on pavement. Female? Whoever it was, she was running like the hounds of hell were after her.

“Get back here, bitch!”

Blaze and I glanced at each other, both of us moving to the gate entrance. I could see a small figure now. The moon was bright. The second that figure cleared the cover of the trees lining the narrow road, I realized not only was the figure indeed a woman, but she was naked. And terrified.

“Help!” she sobbed and gasped as she approached us. Just as she neared the gate, she stumbled. I lunged for her, catching her slight form in my arms. “Please,” she panted, her breath coming in ragged gasps. “Oh, God! Please help me!”

“Where’d she go?”

“Ain’t nothin’ out here but that MC. They won’t let her in. They don’t let nobody in.”

Two men emerged from the shadows, following the same path the woman had come from. They trotted more sedately. Like they expected she’d stop here and that we’d refuse her entry but might keep her talking long enough for them to catch her.

“Girl,” I murmured, looking down into her upturned, terrified face. “They comin’ for you?”

She nodded, either unable to or afraid to speak. In my arms, she trembled uncontrollably. The summer air was warm and humid so even though she was naked I didn’t think she was cold.

Her hair was a tangled mess, and dirt streaked her face. A long scratch marred one cheek and I thought I saw a bruise darkening the other side of her face. Though she had lush curves, she was short and light in my arms. I thought her hair was either dark blonde or light brown, but it was so matted and dirty it was hard to tell. Even though she didn’t wince where my arms were around her, I’d bet my last dollar she was covered in even more bruises.

“You want to go with them?” This from Blaze. I shot him an irritated look, tightening my arms around her. I wasn’t protective over women, but something primitive and frightening rose up inside me. There was no way I was letting this woman get hurt on my watch.
Pepper -- I’m in so much trouble. Though I’ve been with Dustin since I was sixteen, he’s not the man I thought he was. In fact, he’s turned into my worst nightmare. Afraid for the life of my daughter, I run to the only man I trusted with my daughter’s protection. Rage. He’s Dustin’s half-brother and the scariest man I know. He’s been on the outer edges of my life for four years, always there bailing Dustin out of one mess or another. Also, he hates me. Rage -- Calm, cool, and collected ain’t my forte. Especially when there’s danger to someone I care about. So when I find out my brother has threatened his girlfriend and their newborn daughter, you’d think I’d be torn between believing the accusations and defending my brother. Truth is, I’d believe Pepper over Dustin any day of the week. She’s the reason I stuck around after Dustin and his mother got back on their feet after my dad died. From the moment I saw Pepper, I knew she was mine. Good things are worth waiting for, sure, but I’m done waiting. Especially when she drops the baby off in my car and intends on sacrificing herself to save Dustin’s sorry hide. Not on my watch. Graphic violence, adult situations, and references to human trafficking and domestic abuse that may be triggers for some readers. Features a grumpy hero and a feisty heroine. Eventual happy ending and NO cheating, as always.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter One

Pepper

I was taking a huge gamble, but I honestly had no idea what else to do. Everyone in town knew about the Iron Tzars, so finding their compound wasn’t hard. The only problem was going to be getting inside and leaving without someone seeing me. The place was locked down like Fort Knox. I finally settled on leaving my precious cargo and a note outside the gate. It wasn’t ideal, but there was no way to get in and out without having to answer questions, and I couldn’t afford that.

Waiting until I knew someone was headed toward the gate, I left the infant car seat with the attached canopy pulled up to protect her from the sun while it sat beside the gate. After draping a bright red blanket over it, I went to hide in the bushes. Thankfully, there was a large shade tree where the heat wouldn’t be bad and the sun would be blocked. My heart broke as I hurried to move into the woods surrounding the place. I’d done this dozens of times while preparing to make the drop. I could watch from a safe distance without being seen. The second someone stopped and found my sweet daughter, I could hurry deeper into the woods until I made it to the ATV I had stashed next to a dirt road. From there, I’d do my best to disappear.

Now I watched from the shadows in the fading light as a man and woman on a motorcycle stopped next to the car seat I’d left at that gate. I’d left my heart sound asleep in the form of my daughter, and the terror of the past three weeks finally caught up with me. Tears came in waves of grief, despair, and fear I was barely able to choke back. The only thing that saved me from openly sobbing was knowing it was imperative that I not be discovered. The second the woman picked up the small bundle inside the carrier, I turned and fled.

This had been my only option. The only guarantee my daughter would be safe. The note inside would explain it all. I only hoped that the man who the note was meant for would forgive me. After all, he was my daughter’s uncle. The older brother of the man who’d taken my virginity, gotten me pregnant, then tried to kill the baby because he thought I’d ratted him out. The joke was on him, though. I hadn’t been the one to tell his boss he’d been skimming money from the company. That had been his other woman. The one I’d known about but hadn’t cared enough to do anything about because if he was with her, he left me alone.

My plan had been perfectly executed. They’d taken Cassie inside with them. They might still turn her over to social services, but I didn’t think so. That wasn’t who Dustin’s brother was. He’d been against me getting with Dustin, but had warned Dustin to make sure the baby was taken care of. My letter explained everything. How he’d been right. How I wasn’t right for his brother, and how things had gone so horribly wrong in our lives. Now, Cassie’s only hope for a decent future rested with her uncle. He was abrasive and straight-talking. He’d never wanted me around but was protective of those he considered his. Cassandra might not be his, but she was his blood.

Who was I kidding? I was betting my daughter’s future on a man I barely knew. One who hated me. The man they called… Rage.

* * *

Rage

“Church!” Sting snapped. The anger on his face gave me pause. As a rule, I was the hot-headed one in the club. It’s one reason I got my name. But something was seriously off. Then I saw Sting’s woman, Iris. There were tears in her eyes and… a baby in her arms?

For some reason, that set off alarm bells in my head. There was no reason for me to think this was about me, but I knew it was. My suspicions were confirmed when Sting walked to me and handed me an envelope. It had been opened, and the contents were sticking out at one corner. When I raised my eyebrow, he gave me a hard look.

“Baby turns up at the club doorstep, privacy goes out the window.”

“Well, the baby ain’t mine. Sure of that,” I grumbled as I opened the letter and skimmed the contents. My eyes got wide, and my heart rate accelerated. “Motherfuck…” So I started over and read it carefully.

Virgil,

I’m sorry. I know you never wanted me with your brother. You were right, though not about what you probably thought. Having a baby definitely wasn’t a reason to stay together. Dustin’s into something bad with his job. I didn’t know until it all blew up and he thought I was the one who turned him in. I can take care of myself, but I can’t risk Cassandra.
Blossom -- My life is about as complicated as it can get. To fulfill his political aspirations, my stepfather has decided to sell me to a man who can take him to the governor’s seat. He’s always been abusive, demanding I be perfect in public, silent in private, and obey him in all things. After we moved to Evansville, Indiana, I spent months trying to find the perfect protector, looking for the biggest, bravest, meanest man I could find. Then I meet Walker from the motorcycle club, Iron Tzars. He’s everything I need, everything I want, and nothing I can handle. But he’s the one. And I’m determined for him to make me his. Walker -- I’m emotionally unavailable, a mean bastard on the best of days. Serving my country as a Dog Handler for the Army, finding explosives meant to kill my fellow soldiers and innocent people, left me with emotional scars I never thought I’d get over. I lost my fiancée, my partner, and my ability to empathize with anything. Hell, I even refused to name the dog that took up with me and refused to leave, simply calling her Dog. Then this lost little waif worms her way into a compound full of hardasses who never allow outsiders. Of all the men in this club, the little fool sets her sights on me. Time to set her straight. Only, I might have gone too far. If Blossom doesn’t survive this, it’s on me. And I might have accidentally fallen for her. Graphic violence, adult situations, and references to human trafficking and domestic abuse that may be triggers for some readers. Features a grumpy hero and a feisty heroine. Eventual happy ending and NO cheating, as always.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter One

Walker

Downing the shot of Jack I’d just poured for myself, I did my best to ignore the feminine laughter coming from the other side of the clubhouse common room. Blossom Evergreen was a fucking trial to the most patient of men and a pain in my fucking ass. She was always there. Always right in my line of sight or upwind of me so I had to smell that clean, fresh scent that always clung to her. Reminded me of spring flowers or some fucking shit.

A crash followed by a startled yelp had me pouring another drink. The woman was also the biggest klutz known to man.

“Sorry!” The lyrical sound of Blossom’s voice shot through me and went straight to my cock. Even knowing she’d likely plowed over some club girl.

“Watch where you’re goin’, bitch!”

“I’m so sorry, Star! I’ll clean it up.”

“Damned straight you will!”

“Cut it out, Star!” Another club girl came to Blossom’s aid. I knew better than to look. If I did, I’d be obliged to step in, and if I did, every fucking club girl East of the Mississippi would be all the fuck over me. Any hint of interest in a woman by any of the brothers brought them in droves. They were very territorial of the unattached men in the club.

“It’s all right, Didi. I was at fault. I’ll clean it up.” Blossom’s voice was subdued now. Almost subservient.

“You cut it out too, Blossom! She plowed around the corner right into you! This ain’t your fault.”

“If she hadn’t been making a nuisance of herself, tripping all over herself and everyone else to try and get close to Walker for two fuckin’ months, the club’d be a better fuckin’ place!”

“You don’t like it here, say the word, Star.” Atlas, the sergeant at arms for the club, said. “I’ll be happy to take you out.” He didn’t even stop as he passed. Just laid down his edict and kept going. There was no doubt he’d follow through. And the follow-through meant the woman wouldn’t be leaving. No one left Iron Tzars. Member, old lady, prospect, or club whore. They all knew it and respected it. Which was good. Last thing I wanted to do was to have to come to Blossom’s defense and encourage the girl further. Because Star was right. Blossom was making a nuisance of herself.

“Don’t listen to her,” Didi encouraged. “Come with me. I’ll take you to the old ladies.”

“You don’t have to do that. I don’t want anyone giving you grief, Didi.”

Didi laughed. And no. Her laugh didn’t affect me the way fucking Blossom’s did. And who named their kid Blossom Evergreen anyway? The woman was a walking menace, and for some stupid reason my dick had zeroed in on her and was growing increasingly demanding.

“Don’t worry about her. She’ll fall in line just like everyone else. The patched members run a tight ship. You don’t get in here unless you know the score.”

Except, I didn’t think Blossom did know the score. She wasn’t a club girl, or an old lady. She was the friend of all the old ladies. Which made her someone we protected since it would upset the women if something happened to their friend. It also made it difficult for everyone to figure out exactly what her position in our midst was. No one knew quite what to do with her.

I knew what I wanted to do with her. It involved spanking her ass, then fucking it. Neither of which was the best idea, or one I welcomed. I hated being around people, and Blossom Evergreen wasn’t the type of woman to have a casual hook-up. She hadn’t made a move on any of the brothers. Hadn’t made a move on me, though it was painfully obvious she wanted to. Given the fact any woman I fucked had to be able to hold her own, including taking what she needed instead of pussyfooting around, Blossom was definitely not a woman I wanted to get mixed up with.

Didi looped her arm through Blossom’s and walked her over to three of the women in the club who’d been claimed by members of Iron Tzars. “Stay away from Star,” Didi said as they approached the table. “She won’t do anything while you’re near the guys, but she’ll chew you up and spit you out if she catches you by yourself.”

“Who will chew her up?” Winter raised an eyebrow while her sister, Serelda, leaned forward, her attention on the club girl.

“Star. Most of the club whores, really.” Didi smiled, but gave the old ladies a solemn look. “She staying with anyone?”

Iris shook her head. “No. But she’s with us. You tell the girls she’s off-limits.” The president’s woman was growing into her role. She didn’t often give orders, but when she did, she expected them to be obeyed. I had to admire her for that. All of them, really. They never backed down from anyone. Not anymore. Bellarose hadn’t been with Atlas that long, but given she was the daughter of Alexi Petrov, no one was worried she’d have problems holding her own. Alexi being a one-third owner of Argent Tech and the acknowledged leader of the Shadow Demons. No. Bellarose would probably think club girls beneath her. If she chose to put one in her place, she’d do it hard. Winter and Serelda were especially aggressive. I didn’t know their stories, but I could tell by the scars on each woman they hadn’t had it easy. They also didn’t bow down to anyone, especially a club whore.
Bellarose -- My drive to my new job didn’t go as planned. Me and my “photographic memory” got lost, ending up on a private road in the middle of Nowhere, Indiana. Worse, I got a flat. And it was getting dark. When a dangerous, sexy biker stops to help, I’m not sure if I’m fortunate or not. Double that when I find myself mashed against said dangerous, sexy biker with him kissing me like he wants to devour me. Then things get really weird. Atlas -- I’m in so much trouble. Not only in the girl in my care the most enchanting woman I’ve ever encountered, she’s the daughter of one of the richest men in the world who happens to also be one third of the Shadow Demons. Which means, that kiss I stole might have signed my death warrant. Every instinct I have is telling me I need to call in my brothers to get her out and end the operation I’ve been deeply embedded in for months. But my little hellion has other ideas. I just hope we haven’t waited too long. If I have, we’re both dead. Graphic violence, adult situations, and references to human trafficking and domestic abuse that may be triggers for some readers. Happy ending and, as always, no cheating.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter One

Atlas

What a fucking mess. This fucking club in Terre Haute was rotten to the fucking core. I knew enough about it to make it implode with all the secret deals going on inside, but I hadn’t been given the go-ahead from Sting, our president. Iron Tzars was an old MC, dating back to World War II. Back then, they’d been off-the-radar Nazi hunters. Meaning, they killed any they found and didn’t ask permission from anyone to do it. Now we hunt down pedophiles and human trafficking rings. Occasionally we infiltrate domestic terrorist organizations, but most of those are on the government radar, and we let the FBI and ATF do their thing. This bunch, however…

They were as sadistic a bunch as I’d ever seen. Not only did they have their hands into the obligatory guns and drugs, the women and girls they took weren’t trafficked. Oh no. They kept them. Used them. It had put me in a tenuous position because I couldn’t keep my cover at the expense of innocents. With the help of my brothers at Iron Tzars, I’d managed to pull all of the under-aged girls out -- there weren’t many, thank God. There were two other women still in the compound. One was happy to be there. Said so herself as she took one man after another with a smile on her face. The other one… wasn’t in good enough shape to express her wishes.

That had been two months ago. Nothing had changed except I’d gotten the leader of this bunch to leave the unwilling woman alone. It wouldn’t last long, though. The willing woman was fast becoming an unwilling woman. Which meant I’d run out of time.

I drove down the road back to the compound. The bike I was on was an older chopper, but it was still a Harley, if heavily customized. It wasn’t my own bike, but I tried to still treat it with respect. The meeting I’d just had, the plans being put into action, had me on the extreme edge. Which was likely why I nearly missed the woman crouched on her knees beside a new-model Ford on the side of the road.

I swerved, and I thought I heard her scream. Pulling over to the side of the road, I looked back over my shoulder. She was flat on her ass, gasping for breath. When she glanced in my direction, she scrambled to her feet and snagged the tire iron next to the car, holding it like a baseball bat.

With a scowl, I turned the bike around and drove the hundred feet or so back to her car before stopping and shutting it off.

“Did I hit you?” Despite my worries, I never wanted to hurt an innocent. The mere fact I hadn’t seen her until I was right on top of her showed how distracted I’d been. A mistake like that could get me killed in this fucking club.

“I -- I…”

“Come on, girl! Are you hurt?” I snarled the question like a demand. Which it was. She took a step backward and rounded the back of the vehicle, putting the car between me and her.

“Don’t come any closer! I know how to use this!”

I couldn’t help but snort. “That thing probably weighs more than you do. Now, tell me if I hit you with the bike, li’l bit.”

She shook her head slightly. “No.”

I glanced at the driver’s-side rear tire. Sure enough, it was flat. “Do you need help?” Again, she shook her head but didn’t relax one bit. I sighed, scrubbing a hand over my beard. I didn’t need this. Not now. “Look. We got off on the wrong foot. I shouldn’t have snarled at you. I didn’t think I’d hit you, but even if I’d clipped you, you could have been hurt. It scared me as much as I scared you. Now. Are you sure you’re OK?” I tried to soften my tone when it wasn’t my nature. Women usually looked at my size, tats, beard, and muscles and ran straight into my arms, begging for a hard fucking. I had no interest in any woman who didn’t.

“I’m fine.”

I barked out a laugh. “I hate it when women do that, girl. You’re not fine. I scared you to death.”

“It’s all right. You said it scared you too.” Her voice was soft and lyrical, wrapping around my insides like silken ties. What the fuck was wrong with me? I wasn’t hard up for female companionship. In fact, until I’d been planted in this fucking club, I’d had a different woman practically every night. More than one sometimes. Now, a little bit of timid innocence was burrowing inside me within a few seconds? Fuck…

“Not the point.” I raised my open hands in a non-threatening gesture. “At least let me change your tire. Can I come closer?”
