--- There is freedom in blacking boots for the right man. ---
Jake. Kings of Hell MC Prospect. Obedient. Desperate for approval.
Vars. Dominant. Stern. Undead.
Jake is itching to become a patched member of the Kings of Hell MC.
For two years he's toiled as the only prospect. So when a new guy swans in and thinks he'll get a patch in no time just because he's got friends in high places, Jake is there to stand in his way.
Only that the guy is older, more experienced, drives a Harley, and has the kind of boots Jake craves to lick. But he won't. Because he only fucks patches.
Vars is ready to find a new home in the Kings of Hell MC after a messy relationship led him straight to hell. In comparison, the pretty, blue-eyed prospect could be just the pleasant rebound he needs.
The boy is a brat, but that could be amended with a firm hand and a gag. If only Jake was ready to admit to his submissive needs, Vars would gladly take him under his wing.
That is, until he finds out something inhuman resides inside of Jake. Vars didn’t cheat death only to call out to it again.
But stuck together in one room, keeping each other’s secrets, they might just have to become allies, no matter how unwilling. Because if there is something Vars can’t resist, it’s a boy with pleading eyes.
*
“You are mine now, boy. This room is soundproof. No one will hear you scream.”
“Yes, sir. My body is yours.”
Merikan

Prologue- Jake

The secret passage to the cellar blew into Jake’s face with air that smelled like the innards of a dragon—stale yet with a hint of smokiness left behind by the roasted meat. For several seconds, he stared into the nothingness below before switching on the flashlight and revealing the staircase hidden behind the wooden panels.

Jake couldn’t wait to find Elliot. Not because he cared much for the guy, but because it would please Knight so very much. Knight would recognize just how useful Jake was, how dedicated, and Jake would quickly be back to serving Knight in other ways than shoe shining or polishing Knight’s bike.

Though familiar with the morbid history of their clubhouse—and the cellar in particular—he’d never felt it was his place to invade the rooms where so many innocent people had perished at the hands of that madman William Fane, one of the original owners of the property. To be perfectly honest, the idea of going down there still creeped him out, but he wasn’t a baby (he was of legal drinking age since March!), and for the sake of Knight and the club, he would prove that Elliot didn’t deserve their trust.

The glow of the flashlight led him downstairs, licking the old stone and brick as it descended to the floor below.

The early morning hours were usually quite peaceful here in the clubhouse once everyone got tired of partying. Away from town, in the woods, nothing could disturb the peace, but there was something creepy about the complete stillness in the cellar. The sounds of Jake’s footsteps and breathing were the only ones around, as if they existed in a vacuum so intense the silence transformed into a quiet ringing in his ears.

If a drop of sweat dripped from his body to the floor, it would have probably made a noise loud enough to create an echo.

And he was sweating quite heavily despite the cool dampness of the air.

In which room had William Fane tortured his victims?

Jake’s hand moved across the ancient-looking wooden entrance to his left, but when he tried to open the door, it wouldn’t budge.

That wasn’t where the weird smells were coming from though, and Jake directed his attention at the crumbled wall farther down the corridor. Reddish dust clung to the moist walls, and the crushed pieces of brick piled on either side of the entrance betrayed its origin. A hammer and chisel rested on the floor, a testament to their user’s conviction that no one would come down to this creepy place and disturb them at work. For a moment it angered Jake that it could have been Elliot who damaged club property, but it didn’t take long for him to realize what a ridiculous idea that was. Elliot could have hardly carried a hammer this big, much less used it.

But that didn’t mean he wasn’t hiding in the labyrinth of rooms down here.

Ignoring the unpleasant twist in his stomach, Jake rushed through the tear in the wall, because he wouldn’t let childish fears keep him away from things that needed to be done. Several doors stared at him with their uninviting rot, each surely hiding a darkness thicker than tar, secrets of the brutal man who’d murdered several dozen young men in those very corridors.

Jake had come here to make the patches proud, to make them see he was worthy of becoming one of them. Still, his voice came out an octave higher than he’d have wished it to.

“I know you’re in here”—he said even though he could as well have been talking to dust and old walls—”Come out. Let’s talk things through. You know, like civilized people.”

In the black void around him, something scraped against stone. It was a brief, silent noise, like that of a shoe gently moving against a damp floor, but in the near-perfect silence it echoed louder than a scream.

Jake’s heart picked up the pace of its march, and he dove into the room to his right, intent on finding the source of the sound. It could have been mice, but Jake wouldn’t take any chances.

Stepping inside, he raised his flashlight to see the entire chamber and recoiled so rapidly he stumbled over the threshold. Three pairs of empty eye sockets stared back at him from naked skulls. Two of them—one perched atop a barrel and one part of an entire skeleton locked inside a dog cage—contrasted with the gentile decor and the way the third corpse calmly reclined in a chair clad in what was remaining of an old-fashioned gown.

With blood rushing to his head, Jake stared at the scene in complete silence, half-expecting one of the dead bodies to raise their hand in greeting. But nothing happened.

It took Jake minutes to unglue his back from the wall and breathe normally again. Goose bumps crawled all over his arms even under his hoodie. When he finally moved across the dust-filled room, the floor whined under him as if it didn’t welcome his presence.
Love or hate. Life or death. No inbetween. No compromise. No rules in love and war.
Knight. Party monster. Handsome Savage. Doesn’t do monogamy.
Elliot. Obsessive. Intense. Uncompromising.
Newly single, Knight is done with relationships. All he's interested in is bringing down The Count, an Internet personality who is tarnishing his family name. An opportunity to crush him comes when the audacious clown shows up at the Kings of Hell MC clubhouse to film for his YouTube channel. But when Knight meets Elliot, the man behind The Count, he no longer knows what to do with him.
Knight has never seen a more pathetic creature than Elliot. He’s also never met anyone who needed him more. Skinny, messed up, and a bucket of trouble as thick as tar, everything Elliot does seems to be a wordless death wish. No matter how much Knight hates Elliot’s alter ego, under the makeup and theatrics hides a fragile young guy with a passion for history, and Knight can’t help but catch Elliot every time he falls.
Elliot has bad taste in men. Always hopelessly attracted to violent brutes, his favorite is a long dead serial killer. But he gets more than he’s bargained for when he seizes an opportunity to meet the man of his dreams. The ghost is manipulative and dangerous, offering Elliot all he’s always wanted, for a price he can’t possibly pay.
Elliot is faced with an impossible choice between two men.
One alive, one dead. One carnal and honest, one drizzling sweet, poisoned promises into his ear. One unwilling to commit, the other promising an eternity together. And Elliot doesn’t settle for half-measures. He craves a love that is all or nothing, passion that will consume him, and desire to burn him alive. Elliot is ready to either get that, or die trying.
Jake still had a bulge at the front of his jeans proclaiming to the world just how horny he was.

“Good boy…” Knight smiled and leaned down to stroke Jake’s cheek as his muscles started getting lazy in the afterglow of orgasm.

Jake’s eyes had that glazed-over look Knight always liked to feel all over his skin. Awe and admiration that never failed to get him warm on the inside and flexing his muscles that bit more.

“Ready for round two, Prospect?” Joker grinned widely and gestured for Jake to come over. He stood by the window and stubbed out a cigarette.

“Yes, sir!” Jake was quick to say as he crawled over to Joker, his cheeks red.

“That mouth’s never full.” Knight laughed and stuffed his dick back into his pants. It would be hard to let go of having Jake’s eager lips on Knight’s cock whenever he asked, but one day Jake would stop being a prospect. Then again, Knight doubted Jake’s hunger for cock would wane because of it, so there was that.

“Joker! Knight!” Beast yelled somewhere in a far-off corridor. “Stop playing around! We’re all waiting!”

Joker groaned and gently pushed on Jake’s forehead. “Keep that mouth open for me when I come back.”

Jake nodded with a serious expression, as if he’d been given a responsible task. To be fair, having someone’s dick in your mouth was a pretty important responsibility. Not that Knight’d ever given head, but he could imagine that was the case.

“Coming!” Knight yelled in the general direction of Beast’s voice and started walking.

“Or not-coming,” Joker whispered as he followed.

Knight made his way down the corridor, knowing that it would be a busy club Church meeting. Many things needed to be dealt with after the hiatus in the club’s not-entirely-legal operations. Their former president, King, had been the one to facilitate all the deals with Mr. Magpie, an underworld jewelry and arts dealer from New York. Seventy percent of the club’s income came from that partnership, so King’s death had temporarily put the Kings of Hell MC into limbo. With all the illegal cargo gone from the clubhouse, Knight got permission to inform the authorities about the two-century old bodies found on club grounds. Understandably, the police had been suspicious at first, but carbon dating of the old bones soon cleared the club’s name. With the skeletons and other evidence safe in an appropriate research facility and a new agreement with Mr. Magpie in place, business could resume.

Knight’s life hadn’t changed much since his best friend, Beast, made him vice president. He still had fun with his brothers, still fucked the prettiest girls and the sexiest boys, and he was still the designated electrician on call. Now he also had to make a fuckload of phone calls and send out dozens of emails, all coded in case of the police looking into their trade more closely.

He didn’t mind it much. Negotiating terms with sellers and buyers of the expensive jewelry and precious stones they traded in came to Knight as easily as it had to King. It took being a bit of a risk-taker and loads of charm—both of which had always come easily to Knight. If only the whole process didn’t take up so much of his time.

Knight was perfectly suited for the tasks his prez, Beast, passed on to him, but they came with an amount of responsibility Knight hadn’t anticipated when he accepted the VP patch. New duties made a considerable dent in the time he could dedicate to partying and his other needs, but then again, the new position came with the perk of taking over the former president’s apartment—possibly the largest and slickest of bachelor pads in existence.

All in all, though, between the tasks Knight was newly in charge of, transporting stolen jewelry, and making sure the ancient building of their clubhouse had a stable supply of electricity, his days became much busier than he was used to.

“These need to be taken to Mr. Magpie’s,” Beast said as soon as they all sat down, and he pushed a small, rattling box of rubies to one side of the antique table in their gatherings room.

The latest transport from the West Coast was in, and most of the members were busy sorting all the jewels and precious metals by type and buyer. Some pieces of jewelry would be sold as they were, others needed to be slightly modified or transformed into raw materials. Rev was coordinating the process, and after twenty years in this business, had enough skills to deal with some of the process in a designated area within the clubhouse. As problematic as the huge, old building sometimes was, it came with many secret rooms that were undetectable to random visitors.
Each time Laurent glanced toward the clock, the long hand had barely moved, and he was on the verge of concluding that the device was powered by the same faulty electricity that resulted in the burning smell coming from the bar’s kitchen. He glanced at Fox and Rev, who sat in the booth across from him, but they were discussing something engine-related Laurent had no context for. The conversation was as normal, as if the two men weren’t worried about the fate of their close friends—and in Rev’s case even his last remaining son—settled with beer and burnt French fries.

Laurent despised that the word ‘French’ was attached to anything so revolting.

“Shouldn’t they be back yet?” he asked Elliot, who was nervously chewing black nail polish off his fingers.

“I can’t wait to go home. Fingers crossed that Maureen will be too busy to spy on us,” Elliot said, though he crossed his thin arms over his chest.

Fox frowned. “Who? Maureen? Is a granny spying on you?”

“It’s one of the ghosts. She was in the asylum, because she’s so sex-crazed, and apparently that was a reason to be locked up back then,” Elliot told him, playing with his empty cup.

Laurent swallowed, horrified. At least this was something to take his mind off the danger Beast was up against. “You mean she’s watching you... when you’re intimate?”

“It’s not that big of a deal when she stays hidden, but last week she tried touching Knight’s dick, and that was so not on.” Elliot complained, before looking at his wrist watch. “Where the hell are they?”

Rev sighed and put down his beer bottle with a loud thud. “You whine like two girls. They’ll be back as soon as they can. Those kinds of operations require patience. Maybe something held them up.”

“There is nothing feminine about worrying about one’s husband,” Laurent said, not holding back on the venom. He was not in the mood for Rev’s attitude. What if what ‘held them up’ was a bullet through Beast’s skull? Laurent had seen the terrible damage firearms were capable of.

He wasn’t stupid. It was obvious that breaking into a rich man’s house to steal his most prized possession would be no easy feat, but he didn’t understand the process such deeds involved when technology offered a level of security that to Laurent’s mind was akin to magic. All he needed was a time frame. Or, perhaps, some reassurance from men who should know the situation better.

Instead, he was stuck worrying that his husband was up against guns that could shoot dozens of deadly projectiles in the blink of an eye.

Fox cleared his throat. “They need to be careful. That’s why it’s taking so long. Just chill and get some French fries.”

“If anything, they are American potato sticks, but thank you.” Laurent was not having any of that greasy food, but he definitely needed to ‘chill’ so he pulled out his notebook to take his mind off matters he couldn’t influence.

Elliot smiled. “Here we go. The notebook’s out. Alert. Alert!”

“This is no laughing matter. The fate of all humanity could hinge on what I’ve got here.” So maybe he was being a tad dramatic, but his research was very important.

Rev rolled his eyes, but that was his usual reaction to anything he didn’t enjoy, so Laurent ignored it.

Elliot, however, took the bait and shifted closer, glancing at the open page. “Wow, how do you write in such straight lines? It’s inhuman.”

Laurent straightened with pride, even though his skill had been beaten into him with a cane. “Just practice. You said Maureen visits you often.” He pointed to the ghost’s name in his notebook. “She’s definitely made a pact with Baal if she still roams the clubhouse. Has she ever mentioned what it was about?”

Elliot shrugged. “Not really. She always changes the topic when I ask. Why?”

Rev chewed on his fries and lit himself a cigarette, as if his food weren’t burnt enough. Most modern establishments did not allow tobacco products on the premises, but in this place neither the staff nor the sparse clientele seemed to care. “Maybe she did some crazy shit and doesn’t wanna admit it.”

Laurent frowned. Since when was Rev a part of this conversation? He turned the pages in his notebook to get to the bit about a child born without a navel. “But she was in the asylum at the time of the strange child’s birth. Maybe she could help us find out more about the other woman. Any leads could be useful.”

Fox watched him with a half-smile. “And why do you care about a baby someone had fifty years ago?”

Laurent took a deep breath. “Because anything out of the ordinary might have involved Baal’s influence. Which in turn could lead us to discovering more about his powers.”
His mind was a swamp that kept dragging him beneath the surface, away from the monotone voice and the world where he’d have to pry his eyes open. His lids and mouth weighed tons, so he stayed under, floating in and out of awareness until the call became so loud he could no longer stand it.

When he first opened his eyes, the world appeared in a green-gray blur, but he kept blinking until the mist cleared. He spotted something round, with several legs extending from it in a circle. It stayed still, like a huge white spider about to jump down onto his face. He wasn’t exactly afraid, just confused by the constant sound coming from so close. He couldn’t move at first, as if there were harpoons lodged in his muscles, but as moments passed, he finally forced his head to roll over the pillow, and faced the machine that called out for Gray in the rhythm of his own heartbeat.

Everything fell into place, and the objects he couldn’t quite recognize before gained meaning and purpose. The fan above his bed was still, as it wasn’t too hot yet.

How long had he been here?

Memories flooded him in waves, always drifting away before he could make sense of them. He looked to his side only to be struck by what he already knew was his reality.

He’d lost an arm.

A part of the sigil that had been burned into his skin was visible from under the bandage as if to remind him that he’d made a pact with the demon who resided in their clubhouse. But what had the creature wanted in return for Jake’s life?

One thing he was sure of—it involved the next new moon. He was to do something then, just like Knight had since making a pact of his own.

But what was it that Baal wanted from Gray? He’d been delirious with pain when the demon appeared before him, spilling out of a small mirror on the wall of the ambulance like animated tar. His shape had filled the whole space, surrounding Gray with opaque blackness. He could still hear the screech of the monster’s horns against metal, but what had he agreed to that night? He couldn’t remember.

The heart rate monitor beeped faster, and its panicked pitch finally pushed Gray into action. Dragging his upper body off the bed, he grabbed the side rail and reached out for the button, but instead of his other arm, a bandaged stump came into view, and he recoiled, breathing faster when the heart monitor changed its tune accordingly, as if in warning. Nausea grabbed at Gray’s throat, but he leaned out of the bed as far as he could and tapped the red button, switching off the sound. Only then did he roll back and let himself rest in the dark room lit only by the greenish glow of the monitor and a distant streetlamp outside his window.

At least his body did, because the beacons in his mind flared up with anxiety. Mr. Magpie had suggested Gray was the only one to be trusted with the important job of stealing the Pigeon Heart, a ruby that supposedly held the key to the safety of their world. Instead, Gray had entered an agreement with the very being the world needed saving from. What had he done?

Gray had been picked because of his agility, stealth, and ability to work under pressure, but how was he to deal with the difficulties of a heist so high-profile if he was newly missing an important tool of the trade—his left arm? Had Magpie given up on him and offered the job to someone else? If one of his biker brothers was asked, was he fine?

Frantic, Gray looked around to find his phone, but it was nowhere to be seen, and his anxiety was growing by the second.

He couldn’t wait until morning to find out. What if the new moon was tonight, and he only had hours left to complete his task?

Gray dragged himself up again, but had to take a few seconds to fight the dizziness rolling through his skull like water stirred in a pot. At least he was alive. At least he’d managed to save Jake. But how much worth would he have to the club now, when he’d always been the man going where no one else dared and dealing with threats that required peak physical fitness?

Gray stared at his knees, breathing hard to gather his thoughts, but the place where he should have an arm loomed in the corner of his eye. He repeatedly glanced its way hoping it was only a trick of light, but the limb was stubbornly missing.
--- Nothing can stop true love. Not time. Not even the devil himself. ---
1805. Laurent. Indentured servant. Desperate to escape a life that is falling apart.
2017. Beast. Kings of Hell Motorcycle Club vice president. His fists do the talking.
Beast has been disfigured in a fire, but he’s covered his skin with tattoos to make sure no one mistakes his scars for weakness. The accident not only hurt his body, but damaged his soul and self-esteem, so he’s wrapped himself in a tight cocoon of violence and mayhem where no one can reach him.
Until one night, when he finds a young man covered in blood in their clubhouse. Sweet, innocent, and as beautiful as an angel fallen from heaven, Laurent pulls on all of Beast’s heartstrings. Laurent is so lost in the world around him, and is such a tangled mystery, that Beast can’t help but let the man claw his way into the stone that is Beast’s heart.
In 1805, Laurent has no family, no means, and his eyesight is failing. To escape a life of poverty, he uses his beauty, but that only backfires and leads him to a catastrophe that changes his life forever. He takes one step into the abyss and is transported to the future, ready to fight for a life worth living.
What he doesn’t expect in his way is a brutal, gruff wall of tattooed muscle with a tender side that only Laurent is allowed to touch. And yet, if Laurent ever wants to earn his freedom, he might have to tear out the heart of the very man who took care of him when it mattered most.
The beer had a bitter aftertaste, but Beast had more nevertheless, tapping his teeth against the glass bottle so hard he feared it would break from the force of his jaw clenching.

Heavy beats exploded within the old walls of the former asylum, drumming under the high ceiling. The splash of violet and green illumination licked the shapes hidden beyond its reach, making even the most mundane of things appear phantastical. In the corner of the large room, hiding in the violet glow, the three lovers moved as one, transformed by shadow and smoke into one monstrous body that pulsed at break-neck speed, twisting and shuddering, as if it were about to leave the shadows and attack Beast with all its ferociousness.

It was moving quicker now, caught up in a rhythm that would have to end soon. Two pairs of thick limbs wrapped around the quivering flesh of the woman in the middle, furiously thrusting to completion before disintegrating into separate bodies.

Beast stayed on the sidelines with his arms crossed on his chest, quietly watching over the buffet of flesh that he could sample if only he wished to. And the truth was that he’d love to join the shameless club party the way he used to. He’d go for Spike first. The handsome hangaround had a thing for bikers and never missed an opportunity for the dick of a patch, always there to open his legs at parties, the elegant suit he wore to work forgotten in his Portland home.

If Beast could have his way, he’d stuff his cock into that wide-open mouth and watch a dark flush spread down Spike’s face and spill over his chest. And the worst thing was that were he to say this out loud, Spike would already be kneeling in front of him, ready for the taking. Beast was positive the guy had already crossed all the other members of Kings of Hell MC off his bucket list, and there was no end to the suggestive glances thrown Beast’s way. But Beast would not be a freakshow, or a pity fuck, or yet another patch in Spike’s collection of sexual partners.

He would not be someone’s shortcut into prospecting either.

Beast doubted any of the hangarounds would ever want him anywhere near them unless out of morbid curiosity or to gain favors. And Beast was not about to be someone’s sugar daddy, all the while wondering if they were even attracted to him. No. This was better. Watching would do.

While he was looking away, King, Beast’s father, Martina, and the male hangaround all finished. She slid off the third wheel’s lap and stumbled into King’s arms, sharing yet another kiss with him. She pulled down her skirt and walked back into the light with her hand resting against the wall for support, looking dizzy, though whether it was from the double-teaming or having too much liquor—Beast didn’t know. She waved at him and stumbled right after, thankfully grabbing the nearest chair for support instead of rolling onto the collection of bottles and glasses on the dirty coffee table.

A heavy hand landed on Beast’s skin so abruptly he barely kept himself from wincing as the mangled nerves of his scarred shoulder cried out in alarm. He knew who it was before his father even spoke.

King’s fly was still open, which made Beast immediately look up into the handsome face that always reminded him of his own long-lost good looks. He used to be a mirror image of his father. Too bad good genes stood no chance against fire. Looking into King’s masculine, ageless features was a daily reminder of what could have been if Beast hadn’t been disfigured in an accident twelve years ago.

His old man on the other hand could easily be one of those hot fifty-somethings Hollywood seemed so fond of. His hair and beard still a golden shade of blond, lips pink and plump as a young man’s, and his body buzzed with vitality despite all the violence, alcohol, and sleepless nights it’d been subjected to all of King’s life.

“Got laid yet?” King asked, presenting Beast with two rows of perfectly white teeth. “I am gonna ask you every day until it happens,” he said, digging his fingers into Beast’s aching flesh until he struggled not to flinch from the warning sensations his damaged nerves were sending his brain.

But Beast couldn’t show weakness, not this long after the accident that left his body a minefield of pain—yet another reason why casually fucking someone during a party seemed more alarming than exciting. What if they touched Beast too firmly and made him cry out? What if they started talking about the president’s son being a weakling who squeals in pain when he’s being touched? The club was the only family Beast had. His only reason to be. And he could not put his position here in danger, because King would not hold him up, were he to fall.
