The Revenge is the taut, edgy, sexy, explosive conclusion to The Insiders trilogy by bestseller Tijan!

Bailey and Kash were used to living in the shadows. Now they are thrust into the public eye. Together, they can do anything, but undeniable danger and seemingly insurmountable challenges threaten the love and passion that binds them.

1. Bailey is reeling from the greatest loss she has ever suffered.
2. Enemies are closing in.
3. Even bigger secrets and twists are coming to light.

Win or lose, for Bailey and Kash, everything is on the line.

FULL BOOK START HERE:

ONE

Kash

There was someone in my apartment.

I didn’t know this because of some sixth sense. I knew this because I’d received ten different alerts. The guy tripped the back perimeter alarm with the first door he opened. That was the first one sent to my phone. Second alarm was the security team picking him up on the video feeds. Third alarm was when the intruder got into the building. Fourth alarm, when they went up the back exit stairs. Fifth alarm, when they got to the sixteenth floor. Sixth alarm, when they went through the door to my floor.

Seventh alarm, when they got through my front door.

The eighth went off when he stepped inside the apartment door.

I checked my phone once it buzzed again.

That was the ninth alarm, and they were in the back bedroom.

Tenth alarm, they were in the walk-in closet.

“You sure about this?” Josh, a security guard who was fast becoming my right-hand man, asked. He was somewhat replacing Erik, who asked for a leave of absence because of his own family.

I didn’t say a word, but I looked up to the back camera and saw the green light was on. He was watching, and I mouthed up at him, “Shut. Up.”

He laughed in my ear. “Just reminding you that you do have an entire detail of guards back here, waiting on your command. They’ll rush in, immobilize the guy, and you can waltz in like fucking Batman.”

I rolled my eyes.

Josh was on a kick about the caped crusader, and it never made sense to me. My phone went off again.

“We have eyes on him,” he said. All cameras were turned on if there was a breach in security. He continued, his tone cold and professional now, “He’s moving to the bedroom door. He’ll be there in three, two…”

I turned.

“One.”

The living room light was off.

The bedroom door they were approaching was just beyond it. Bailey preferred a smaller, cozier layout in our apartment. I had downgraded with her in mind after her second kidnapping attempt. All the doors and rooms made her uneasy, and sometimes less was easier to handle, so we went down to a two-bedroom place. Our bedroom and an office were on the other side of the kitchen.

My phone buzzed again. “He’s opening the door.”

I could hear it in real time, but I didn’t look.

If they’d had a weapon, I wouldn’t have allowed them access to the building. They would’ve been captured after the first perimeter was broken. But security had done a scan and nothing was on them. All they had were their phones and a set of keys. We couldn’t be sure if the intruder was male or female at this point, but we did know they didn’t have a wallet—thank you, full-body sensors installed on each set of doors.

I left my phone, wallet, keys, everything in my pocket.

With my head down, I walked through the living room and went right at them.

“They eased back. They’re behind the bedroom door,” Josh said in my ear.

I went in.

A normal person would be worked up.

I knew they were there. I knew where they were. I knew as much about them as I could.

What I did not know was why they were there.

I did not know their intentions after making their presence known.

I did not know if they were going to attack me or jump out and yell “Surprise!” I doubted it was the latter.

What they did not know was that I knew they were there.

So going through that door, I was the one with the element of surprise.

While I appeared calm and my heartbeat said I was, I was not calm.

I was the opposite of fucking calm.

I cleared the door, and Josh’s voice sounded. “Now!”

I whirled.

They were lunging for me. I could finally see them; the intruder was male. A weapon flashed in his hands, a weapon that had not been flagged by the full-body scanners.

He didn’t come from behind me.

He was right in front, and my hands were up.

I reached for him first, using my elbow to slam the weapon out of his hand. As his eyes met mine, they went wide, and I body-slammed him down to the floor.

I could not let up.

Not for one second.

I went down with him, knees to his chest, but he was twisting, trying to get free.

The windshield wipers were busy at work this morning. It’d been raining since late the night before, and now there was just a whole dreary feel to the day. Dark and gloomy, matching my mood.

It was perfect.

Swish, swish.

“Are you nervous, miss?”

I wasn’t responding, because this isn’t how things were supposed to be. I wasn’t supposed to wake up in the middle of the night and find the bed empty. And I wasn’t supposed to have to be escorted by one of our guards down to the apartment building’s gym to find my boyfriend, the guy I loved, the guy who was so not a secret from the entire world anymore, pummeling a boxing bag so hard that his knuckles ripped open every night. It was not right that I had to stand on the side, waiting for him to fight through his haze before he noticed I was there, and then watch as blood dripped from his hands to the floor.

But all of that was happening.

Because three weeks after there’d been a kidnapping attempt on me, after he had saved me, everything was just, simply, not okay.

To be more frank, everything was shit.

And here I was.

In the back of an SUV being driven by one of my two personal bodyguards, to a school that I used to daydream about attending, while my boyfriend, that guy I had come to love so much, was heading into his own personal nightmare.

Fitz, my guard, clued in on my state and didn’t ask again, but his eyes were on me. He saw. He more than saw, and I knew I’d be getting a call from Kash about two minutes after the first chance Fitz had a moment to text his boss that I was not okay.

Because I wasn’t.

Today was the day all my dreams were supposed to come true.

Instead, I was a week late going to my graduate program and I wanted to be anywhere except where I was going. And I had no say, because the world found out in a big way I was the daughter of Peter Francis, a tech legend who I’d grown up idolizing until I found out myself, this past summer, that he was also my father.

And then there was my boyfriend, Kash Colello, whose grandfather was one of the richest men in the world, but that came with strings and dangerous alliances with the dark underground of the world. My boyfriend, with his inherited wealth, now that he had come out of the shadows to the world, and whose “coming out” was even bigger than mine because of his connections and his family, was now the ninth wealthiest man in the world.

Life as Peter Francis’s daughter, life as Kash Colello’s girlfriend, was a whole lot different than life had been as Bailey Hayes.

There were rules and expectations and lots and lots of people watching you.

So no, I was not okay.

I had a pit in my stomach the size of the Grand Canyon and no one could tell me not to have it. It was there. It was getting bigger every morning I woke, and it wouldn’t stop growing.

But that wasn’t for Fitz to deal with, or my new classmates.

I was hoping they had no clue who I was, but I was realistic and knew they probably did. Everyone in our world knew my father, so that meant everyone would know who his daughter was.

“It’s a big day today. I’m nervous.”

I was lying through my teeth.

The shadow in his gaze cleared. He nodded, the wrinkles smoothing out in his forehead, and while he went back to driving and doing his job, no longer holding a nagging worry, I was still here. I was still not okay.

My phone buzzed. It was Matt.

Naveah. Tonight. I want to hear how your first day went. Hope it’s great, sister.

The text from my older brother was helping to ease some of the doom and gloom. Especially because I was pretty sure he’d be sleeping off a hangover from drinking at Naveah the night before. The nightclub was their favorite spot to see, be seen, and to get laid.

I texted back.

Deal.

We drove more, and my phone buzzed a second time. MomBoss.

Hope your day is amazing, sweetie!! You’ll wow everyone with your brain.

Sigh.

Chrissy Hayes, aka MomBoss, aka my mother. She was being the doting and loving mother this morning, not the feisty, ready-to-commit-murder-and-hide-the-bodies mom or her other alter ego, the party animal.

She had a bigger social life than I did.

Thanks, Chrissy.

MOM TO YOU!

Thanks … MomBOSS

Better. You’re learning.

We kept driving and my phone buzzed a few more times. Ser:

KICK ASS, BIG SISTER!! FIRST DAY FOR BOTH OF US!

Well, then. I didn’t realize my little sister was that excited to start eighth grade. It eased my worry for her, because I knew Seraphina was kind and pure and those friends around her were so not the same.
The Insiders is the first in a brand new, page-turning romance trilogy from New York Times bestseller, Tijan!
Bailey is as normal as could be, with a genius IQ and a photographic memory. But still, normal for her. Then, things happen—a guy breaks into her house in the middle of the night to take her hostage. She finds out her father is actually billionaire tech genius Peter Francis, the same guy she’s idolized all her life. She learns all this when she meets dark, mysterious, and electrifying Kashton Colello. He’s an associate of her father’s, and he gives Bailey two choices—go with him and meet her father or survive on her own because those kidnappers are going to try again. It’s a no-brainer.
After this, three things become clear for Bailey:
1. She’s living at her father’s sprawling estate, complete with bodyguards and the best security that money can buy.
2. She’s no longer an only child. She has three siblings and has no idea what to do with them and vice versa.
3. She is being guarded by Kash himself. Personally guarded. And there is a lot of guarding going on there and some of it is going to drive her crazy.
A complete outsider in a world of wealth and decadence, Bailey has to find her way within a family that has more secrets than she could have imagined. One of these secrets could be deadly.

I sensed them just as I turned the lights off. This was the nightmare every girl had at some point in her life. It was here. It was happening to me, not to someone else. Me. Coming back from the bathroom, going to my bedroom, their shadow caught the corner of my eye.

Hairs on the back of my neck stood up. A chill went down my spine.

A split second. Not even. That’s how long I had to compute what was about to happen before a hand grabbed my arm. Another slammed over my mouth.

“Shh!”

He moved fast, backing me into the wall. He was tall, a couple inches on me, and strong. That chill just doubled, and he bent his head low, whispering into my ear, “In two minutes, men will break into your home and take you hostage.”

My lungs stopped working.

This didn’t happen to people like me. I was no one special. Okay, that wasn’t altogether true. The only special thing about me was a lame nickname I got in elementary school, but that was years ago. I was Bailey Hayes, twenty-two and going to start graduate school in three months. My mother raised me on her own, working doubles at the local hospital. We had a thousand-square-foot house, three bedrooms, a basement, and a sad backyard with a half-built tree house. Midwest born and raised. My mom and I were barely keeping our heads above water. She was a nurse. I was a brainiac. That was it, for real. That was the only “special” thing about me. Brainiac Bailey. A lame nickname and nothing else.

A whimper came out.

He only pressed harder. “Shh!”

I was going to die. Not him. Me!

“Stop!” He pushed me against the wall even harder. My eyes shifted to my free hand. I could ram my finger in his eyeballs, but as if reading my thoughts, he grabbed the hand. Pulling back, he had both my hands in one of his and he pinned my arms above my head. I was paralyzed, unable to fight back.

“Listen to me!” He was growling, yelling, and whispering all at the same time. He readjusted for a tighter grip. “If you want to get out of this alive, stop fighting and pay attention. I will not let them hurt you. Got it? But if you squeal on me, we’re both dead. Nod your head. Let me know you’re following.”

I nodded, just briefly.

His voice went quiet again. “I was sent to detain you. Arcane is waiting for me to bring you out. When I don’t, they will break in here. They’ll ask what took me so long—” His hand moved like lightning again, and he ripped the front of my shirt open.

His eyes never left mine. “Got it? They’re going to think I raped you, and you’ll cry.”

I nodded again.

“You’ll whimper.”

Not a problem. I let another one loose, but it was muffled by his hand.

“And you will go limp when they try to drag you out of here. Limp. Your body is going to become your weapon. You have no chance of surviving if you go with them. You’ll be on their territory then. Keep them here. Force them to make their stand here. Got it? Your house. Your territory. Your only shot of living.”

My only shot.

Words that shouldn’t be in my head, but were.

I nodded again. “Go limp. Body is my weapon.” It was stamped there forever.

Then—he was gone.

I stepped back from the wall. The room was empty.

I glanced to my window. The thought of crawling out and running flared in my head, but just as I thought it—

Crash!

Thud.

They kicked the door in, and it seemed like the entire house shook.

I should run for the window, but that guy’s voice was in my head. He was supposed to have detained me, raped me.

Feet stampeded up the stairs, and below me.

I had one second.

They were checking the house—where had that guy gone?

The window. It beckoned me. And screw it, I went for it.

I got one step before he was back. He grabbed my arm roughly, and called out, “I got her, boss.”

After that, everything blurred.

Time skipped for me.

* * *

Go limp. Drag me out. Body is my weapon.

* * *

“This is her?” A boot kicked me in the side.

Boots.

I tasted blood.

* * *

“Thought she was rich. Her daddy hasn’t been supporting her or something? The whole thing depends on the dad.”

My dad? I didn’t have a dad …

* * *

“You cleared the upstairs, right, Chase?”

Chase. Chase was the guy who showed up first. Chase was my maybe ally.

“He better have, or was the two pumps not long enough?”

A full belly laugh came from the boots guy.

“Shut up, Rafe. Clemin. Both of you.” Chase’s voice was strained.

* * *

I was being hoisted up in the air.

My one shot. My one chance. My neighbor.
