From USA Today Bestselling Author Willow Winters comes the second part in the sizzling Hades & Persephone Duet.

Ripped away from Olympus to the Underworld was a hell of its own making, but so is returning.
Leaving behind Hades and my rightful place as Queen of the Underworld caused an agony I’ve never known before.
What’s worse is that the war has not come to an end and my place in Olympus is questioned by all because of Hades’ demands. My mother will stop at nothing to have me safe with her and neither will Hades.

I’m left torn between life, Olympus, my mother and the throne I was always meant to have beside my lover, the King of the Dead.
I miss him dearly, I crave his touch and I need the love I felt so strongly in his presence.
What brings me the most fear though, is my own thoughts and my own power. The threat of losing what I had is enough to make me question my sanity. My mother would starve the world for me, Hades would burn it. But myself… What I’m willing to do as the suffering intensifies is blasphemy and terrifies me to my core.
There’s no going back and in this place I must find peace and balance before it’s too late.

I know one thing for certain: after dark, there will always be light. If that wasn’t true, the dark would not have a name…
And I crave both.

Please note: His in the Dark must be read first

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Playlist

Little Girl Gone - Chinchilla

The shoes click on the white marble floor with every step I take, and I can barely breathe. Hecate’s hand protectively around my arm holds me close, and I…I can’t see. It is the brightest light I have ever encountered. One moment, I was in the Underworld and the next, the mother of crossroads and keeper of the keys has taken me home.

I cover my eyes with a stifled gasp as my legs find grounding. Hecate’s grip tightens, but only so much that I may rely on her for support. She’s strong. I’ve always known such things, but now I can feel her power in her touch.

She pauses as my body stiffens and I heave in a breath, my head light.

Her eyes are vacant as I look up to her and yet they hold so many memories.

“Are you well?” Hecate whispers. Her voice echoes as if I’ve heard it three times. The mother, the maiden, the crone. All of her is concerned.

“Yes,” I answer in a hushed tone. I am not well though. My heart screams the truth. My soul is torn and where I belong is unknown to me. Fate has meant to torture me.

Her eyes flash as if she knows. As if she can hear every thought that races through me.

Unable to meet her gaze, my eyes adjust to my surroundings. Olympus.

Everything has changed during my time in the Underworld. I found myself there, my power and my strength. I learned to live without the fear of what was to come, and now I have been ripped away. Or rather I ripped myself away.

The words Hades and Hecate spoke ring in my ears. The words she said to me:

No magic will save you now. You must come back to the world that is now forever changed.

We have both changed, I answered, and now I know it is true. The girl I was before I went to the Underworld would never have found the light of Olympus to be so harsh.

And what Hades said to Hecate…

Do not leave her side. Do not betray me.

His own words were a betrayal to me, though. I’d fallen for him, truly and deeply. And yet he spoke in front of me as though there were conversations I may not partake in. Could he have made a deal with Hecate about me? Did they have some understanding before Hecate appeared in the Underworld?

You have betrayed me. That was what Hecate replied. I am no fool. There were conversations Hades participated in that I was not privy to. It all happened too fast. I was kept in the dark, and resentment bleeds in slowly with that knowledge.

Why didn’t Hades tell me? The memory of his voice sends chills through me.

Hecate is coming. There is too much death, my queen. The gods have created an imbalance.

My mind spins with these revelations. I inhale deeply. I will not allow myself to slip into feeling small. That is how I felt when I discovered I had been taken to the Underworld, and it cost me days I could have done more with. Instead, those days were filled with tears and despair.

“Are you sure?” Hecate questions. My gaze searches hers. Comfort lies beyond her concern. As if this is meant to be.

“It is…very bright,” I manage to say, my eyes stinging as they adjust. “And the Underworld…” I whisper, unable to complete the thought. It was chaos in the Underworld. Parts of Hades’s realms collapsed, crumbling as I watched. Souls poured through the sky above us, and Hades moved through the vast space so quickly I could not fathom the power it must have taken. “I cannot see. I need a moment to adjust.”

Her grip loosens only so she may hold my hand as I come to terms with all that has happened.

I crave to go back to Hades. For him to stand at my side. I need to go back to my power, to the rooms I had grown used to, and to the magic I had been working on.

My magic. My heart stutters, and the doubt I once felt returns only to fall silent to the ringing in my ears.

The marble remains steady under my feet.

I blink slowly, forcing myself to stare at the floor. Even the floor is bright with light reflecting off it. It is a strange light, though.

The room Hecate and I are standing in is spacious and cool, but it looks out on a courtyard with white smoke drifting through it. A large pot has been tipped over and cracked, its pieces lying scattered where it fell. There is more smoke wafting above the roof.
There are two things I’ve always known:
Magic is real.
The Gods have no mercy for women like me.

I was born into power although what little I have is dying. Nonetheless, I’ve been protected all my life. There are myths and tales that say one day I will come to a fork in a long, long path. Either the light will take me or the dark. I never paid any mind to the whispers and warnings…

Until he crept into my window late at night.

Cloaked in darkness, silent as death. Every inch of me felt terror and yet I also felt something else. Something I’d never known.

He tasted like sin … and I loved it.

In a single moment, my entire world went dark and I was nothing more than a captive in the Underworld.
Nothing but his and suddenly all the lore brought a chill to my bones… even if he did light a fire in the most secret depths of me.

Prepare for a dark retelling of Hades and Persephone with spells and war and a love story that would change our world forevermore

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

PLAYLIST

Ashley Sienna & Ellise - Pretty In The Dark

Billie Eilish - you should see me in a crown

PROLOGUE

Hades

With the fire crackling and the rustling of the sheets, she turns over in my bed. There’s a sultry, sinful look in her dark eyes, filled with lust as she peers back at me. The innocence is still there as she pulls the silk threads to her chest and her pouty lips, slightly swollen from pleasuring me slip open at the sight of me towering over her.

My Persephone. My Queen.

Her chest rises and falls with heavy breaths.

“The blush in your cheeks adds to your beauty,” I murmur and kneel on the bed, intent to crawl to her, to spread her thighs and bring her to the highest of pleasures with my tongue, but she hesitates. Her doe eyes go wide. She leans back slightly, against the headboard and brings the sheets up higher.

A deep groan of discontent bellows up my chest at her actions. The voices of warning hiss at my impatience.

She will be mine in every way. Every possible essence of her will bear my mark.

Time, the warning echoes in the back of my head. In time … she will be yours.

The Fates’ foretellings ease the beast inside of me who yearns for her complete submission. Her love and acceptance and the gratitude she has yet to display. Apart from crying out my name only moments ago on this very bed.

I imagine my cum still leaks from her cunt. The pleasure still surges in her blood as it does mine.

I thought the deed was done… but there’s so much more that must happen.

“Are you sated then?” I question her, intent on fixing the error of my ways. If only for her.

She stares at me, her mind playing tricks on her no doubt and the magic depleting her even more so than it has in the last months of her capture.

“My Queen,” I get her attention, “You created that,” I gesture to the flames on the back wall.

There’s a hitch in her breath. Her eyes widening as the flames reflect in her darkened eyes. “You have power in pleasure. Power that was always meant to be yours,” I tell her and ease myself to the back of the bed. Her gaze flicks to mine then back to the raging fire. The flames lick up the wall, leaving black marks in their wake. They will scar and remind her, she herself is a fire no one can tame.

The very thought brings me pleasure.

“Is that not divine?” I ask her in a whisper. “Is it not power?”

Her eyes come back to me and I know she ponders my question although she’s silent. I will break her and remake her in the way she so desperately needs.

She was born a Goddess but prior to me, before I took her in against her will, she would have faded. She knows this. How can she not love me when I give her such a gift? When I pine for her and her glory. I fucking worship her and still she stares back at me as if I am nothing but an enemy. Even after what we just had. Even after all I’ve done for her.

“It is not my magic,” she responds, her eyes turning glassy although there’s a spark there, almost defiant. Her spine straightens as the glow of the flames lick along the soft curve of her neck and the ambers glint in the darkness of her gaze.

“It is not what I was created for. I am the Goddess of Life and there is only death here,” she whispers, soft and gentle, her words caressing although they’re in rebellion. Does she not know the power in that? The magic that fills the room when she’s lost in the role she was meant to play.

The Goddess of Life can still rule the dead.

The bed groans with my weight as I make my way to her, naked and wanting. As she stays perfectly still, no longer in questioning or hesitancy but more so in rebellion, my cock hardens. I want nothing more than to hear her moan my name again and again as I give her undeniable pleasure.

Ever so gently, I brush my thumb against her jaw. The softness of her skin is at odds with the calluses that I’ve earned through brutality. Her eyes close slowly, and she leans into me just slightly. Progress. Heat rages through my blood. There is still hope that I will win this war, although the warning from the Fates echoes in the back of my mind as I kiss her. Her blood is hot as she deepens it. Her fists tighten in the sheets as she resists grabbing me, keeping herself from clinging to me.
A drink at the bar. A walk down the late night roads in the bad part of town. One man behind her, his steps too close and his pace a little too fast. She should have known better

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Marie

As my pace picks up, so do the steps behind me.

Following me.

Tracking me.

There’s nothing to listen to on this empty street other than our echoing strides and my anxious breathing. The clacking of his shoes against the pavement resonates loud in my ears. The sound of my heels is nothing compared to the loud thuds from whoever the fuck is back there. It has to be a man. Those steps are too damn heavy to belong to anyone under two hundred pounds.

Shit. Shit. Shit.

I’m too nervous to look behind me. In the movies, when they look back, that’s when they have to start running. You run or you die. Even though in most cases it’s too late by that point. Anyway, I’m in no condition to run.

I’m tipsy and in three-inch black studded Jimmy Choos that my mom got me for my twenty-fifth birthday. I’m not fucking stupid; if I started running, I wouldn’t make it one minute before he caught me. At least right now whoever it is back there is keeping some distance. For now … I shake the unwanted thought away.

Maybe he’s not following me, I tell myself over and over. He’s just walking to his car or another bar; maybe he’s just walking home. But after a few blocks the sound of him following me is unbearable. My heart rate picks up as the reality sets in. This isn’t good. There’s no way this is a coincidence.

A bad man is behind me, I know that much. There’s no way in hell he’s not following me. If he had good intentions, he would’ve said something by now. At some point he’ll get closer and then I’ll have to run. But I’m definitely going to make him work for it. If he wants to put his hands on me, then he’s going to have to catch me and fight me. I’m not going to be a good little victim.

I wonder if I should throw down my clutch when I take off. It might distract him for a few minutes. Maybe he’s only after money. I stare down at the simple black Coach clutch hanging from my wrist. Inside is a mere twenty in cash, my dead iPhone, raspberry lip gloss, and my ID. If he makes a move, I’m dropping it ASAP. I just hope the prick sees it and decides that’s what he wants.

My confidence vanishes as I hear the steps growing closer behind me. The noise brings me back to this shit reality. Who knows what the guy behind me wants, but I’ll save my strength for now and continue to pray that I’m not going to be mugged … or worse. I’m not a fool; at some point I’m going to have to book it. I’m saving my energy for when that time comes.

I try to steady myself, but it’s so fucking cold out, just breathing hurts. I took a cab to get here and that was a mistake. Cabs don’t come around this part of town unless they’re dropping you off. And my phone died before I left the bar, so I couldn’t call for a ride anyway. So I’m royally fucked unless I can make it to the train station. I fucking hate taking the train, but right now I would beg on my hands and knees to be there this very second. I doubt the man behind me will let me get close to the train station. Tears prick my eyes, but I shake them off. I’m not going to cry.

I hug my shaking shoulders as best I can while keeping up my pace and try to think. My hands are freezing. My black cashmere cardigan isn’t anywhere near thick enough for the cold night air and the gloves that I thought were in the pockets are now missing. I debate on whether I should rub my hands back and forth against my upper arms or shove them in my pockets. Snap! The sound of something being crushed underfoot behind me makes me stumble as my legs lock up in fear. I shove my hands in my pockets and will my body to keep moving forward. I keep my eyes down and watch my warm breath turn to fog while the crumbling concrete moves beneath my heels.

What the hell was I thinking, listening to Lexi? She’s a flake and lately she’s been a shit friend. She wanted me to meet her so she’d have a wingwoman to help her score the sexy tattoo artist who touched up her ink last week. I remember her eyes lighting up when he mentioned the dive bar he goes to nearly every night after his shift. She’s such a sucker for tattooed men. And that place was filled with them. She would’ve been in heaven … had she bothered to show up. Well maybe not heaven, since the guy she had her heart set on was busy with some bimbo who had her breasts on full display. From the way he was staring at them you’d have thought he was having a full-on conversation with her tits.
From USA Today Bestselling Authors W. Winters & Amelia Wilde, comes a dark, spicy retelling of a twisted tale...

Everyone knows the tale of Hansel & Gretel.

The innocence that was taken from them and the torture the witch put them through.
But what happened after they burned the witch in the oven?

With scars and memories of horror, their lives were forever changed, until one day the trail leads back to that cottage in the woods

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Never Have I Ever

Everyone knows the tale of Hansel and Gretel.

The innocence that was taken from them and the torture the witch put them through.

But what happened after they burned the witch in the oven?

With scars and memories of horror, their lives were forever changed, until one day the trail leads back to that cottage in the woods...

Gretel

Once upon a time, I fell in love with a boy.

That was before the curse started. After we killed the witch who kept us captive and thought we’d be safe. We were wrong.

The first hardship to strike our small town was the famine. Crops struggled to grow. The plants that managed to push themselves above the soil were weak and withered. Most of the harvest died in the fields, eaten by insects or infested with blight. The townsfolk kept smiles on their faces in the beginning, reassuring one another that it was only an unlucky year—that the next harvest would be bountiful, and we would forget how hungry we’d gotten.

We replanted the crops the next spring, and for a while, it seemed like all would be well again. Everyone in the village took turns guarding the fields from pests, saying prayers over the budding plants whenever we could. Spring turned the countryside green around us, and as the weather warmed, people started to have faith once again, satisfied that the worst was over.

But the weather didn’t stop warming. Spring became a hot, dry summer, with the earth crumbling under our feet and coating everything into dust. The crops would survive, we thought, as long as we kept the fields watered.

But no well would be deep enough. There aren’t enough buckets in the world, or hands to carry them, to protect every inch.

The wildfire came from the forest. It tore through the fields, destroying every last crop. It’s hard to deny that we brought the famine. It was on everyone’s mind, I’m sure. The witch wasn’t dead and her curse would never be forgotten.

The small town sifted through the ashes, looking for seeds, or new growth. Anything that would serve as a sign we were meant to live. That we could recover. Two unlucky years surely wouldn’t become a pattern. No God could be so cruel.

I don’t know which God was watching over our village. If any deity looked over our village, he couldn’t have been kind.

I was in love before the hardships. Before the barren fields and hot winds and bitter winters. Before my stomach pinched with hunger and my mouth got dry with thirst.

Before, when all he wanted was taffy, and all I wanted was a cool drink of water on a warm summer day. When all I wanted in the world was to see him smile.

Hansel, the boy who survived hell with me. The boy who I watched become a man. A man I loved. A man I could never have.

His smile was like a clear spring running through the forest and a lush field brimming with crops. It was like sneaking away to pick flowers in the meadow. It was a smile full of promises and secrets, and he gave it to me like I was fresh rain and sunshine.

And all I had to do to see it was knock on the wooden door to his house. He’d answer with a smile, and I couldn’t help smiling back.

That was years ago. Before the witch. Now we’re left with the barren after.

I wish I could go back. I wish I could keep the crops in the fields and snuff out the fire with my fingers before it could burn everything down. I wish I could stop what happened before we ever set foot on that long, dirt road by the old farms.

Before we ever found the witch’s house.

But I can’t.

I can’t change the past.

I can’t change that he hates me now.

And I can’t stop what’s already started.

I stand outside that wooden door, the paint chipped and scratched and the winter wind whistling through my clothes. No matter how many layers I wear, the frigid air goes straight to my skin. It’s so cold that my teeth ache. My cheeks burn from the blistering cold.

I can’t count how many times I fell asleep dreaming about being in this very spot. It always held possibility for me. The moment before I knocked on this door was always like the moment before opening a gift—giddy anticipation that I knew would be followed by delight.

Now, outside Hansel’s door, I wish I was standing anywhere else.

I swallow thickly, trying not to think of all of his smiles. Isn’t there any other way through this?

There isn’t. I know there isn’t. I was up half the night pacing and trying to think of some other solution. In the end, I came up with nothing.

I wish I didn’t have to tell him.

From Wall Street Journal Best Selling Author, Willow Winters comes a steamy, small-town romance.

Boy meets girl, boy falls for girl… but his friend asks her out first. That was back in high school and she was very much off limits.
A decade later, when he moves back to the small town they grew up in he’s finally given his second chance. This time, he’s taking it before she can slip through his fingers again.

This is book 2 of the Fall in Love Again series.

The Fall in Love Again series will feature Bennet and Bree falling in love on the small-town fictional street of Cedar Lane over and over again while the real world has had other plans for them. Because love is endless and this is what forever means. In any and every life, their love was meant to be. And there’s so much to tell in the dreams where they get to meet again for the first time every night.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

PROLOGUE

Bennet

Her rustling under the sheets is what keeps me from falling back to sleep. The bed groans slightly as the alarm goes off but I barely hear it. All I know is that last night was fucking incredible.

I’m in and out of it and as she hums, nudging her nose against my neck and whispers that it’s time to wake up; all I can do is smile. There isn’t a part of me that’s ready to wake up.

It’s a genuine pull against my lips as I grin and tell her, “Nope, I’m not waking up.” Gripping the sheets, I pull them up and over the two of us, wrapping my arms around her as she squeals in protest. I turn to the side, holding her back against mine and smile wider as she laughs. All I can smell is her shampoo and the laundry detergent as she playfully objects.

“Bennet,” she admonishes, although the laugh is still there, lingering in her gleeful tone, “it’s time to wake up.”

Kissing her hair, I ignore her. I keep my eyes closed and live in this moment between holding her and dreaming of her.

It almost doesn’t feel real. She was the girl I couldn’t stop thinking about in high school. The crush I never had the balls to ask out.

Fate brought her back to me a decade later and it all feels like it was meant to be. The other part of me knows it could all crumble so easily. We’ve only just fallen for one another.

There’s so much at risk as she rubs against my arm, “wake up.” She bats at me playfully. All the while I don’t want to. I have the woman I’ve always wanted and a comfortable warm bed. I’d rather stay here and make use of the mattress like we did last night.

“Only if it means I’ll wake up with you in my arms,” I joke with her, and she laughs that sweet sound.

“I’m right here,” she tells me and then says, “You have to get going… before they find out you’re seeing someone.”

Like I said, it’s all brand new. I wish we could just stay in this moment. Where she knows I want her and I know she wants me and nothing else matters.

Cause I’ll be damned but I think I love her… I think I’ve always loved her.

AUBREY

Late late late. Why am I always ten minutes late?

“Thank you so much for not canceling,” I tell the nurse as she walks ahead and opens the door. “It’s absolutely fine,” Ginnie tells me. “We have a ten-minute grace period, but the new doctor is running late anyway.”

“New doctor?” my eyebrow raises as the door squeaks shut and we’re left in the privacy of a sterile examination room. The typical bed draped with that waxy thick paper and stool on wheels in front of a row of boring cabinets is all there is in the room. That and posters of skeletons and body parts that look like they belong in high school anatomy textbooks.

“Scale please,” Ginnie chimes. She’s one of my good friend’s sisters and I nearly joke that I don’t want to, but given how late I am, I toss my purse down on the patient bed and next are the keys, jingling as I drop them down too.

As I slip my tennis shoes off, Ginnie jokes, “You don’t have to strip for this part.” Her cherry red lips form a delighted grin and her chin length blonde curls bob as she chuckles at her own joke.

I laugh too, to be polite but also because the scale doesn’t matter. Least as far as I know it doesn’t. Today is just a checkup and I’ve always been around the same weight since high school. Well maybe five or ten pounds over, but I don’t have to update it on my I.D. and that extra weight is to be expected… since wine exists.

As she taps the little weights to get my weight, I ask her, “You said there’s a new doctor?

“Oh yeah. And new to town,” she purses her lips after mumbling my weight while writing it down on my chart on the clipboard. Once she’s done, she holds it to her chest and sways. “He’s a hottie too.”

She gestures to the bed and I toss my keys in my purse then put my purse on my lap as I take my seat. I practically hug it as I wait for what’s next. It’s been a bit since I’ve been to the Doctors. I probably wouldn’t have even known this hottie doctor was new.

Ginnie is younger by about five years my senior. We didn’t grow up together really since Lauren and I were always enrolled in a grade school ahead of her, but that doesn't mean I haven’t heard all about Ginnie’s dating life. I can only nod as she describes the new doctor and I recount the number of stories Marlena has told me with a bottle of wine in one hand and her phone in the other, texting Ginnie to keep her out of trouble.
From Wall Street Journal Best Selling Author, Willow Winters comes a steamy, small-town romance. Before I walked through those doors, I knew fate had something in store for me. It gave me chills, the good kind. My high school crush was standing behind that bar in our small town waiting for me to walk in and see him mixing up a cocktail I couldn’t resist. He glanced my way and a nervousness shot through me as if he never left. Then he smiled that handsome charming grin I remember all too well and I knew I was in trouble. The kind of trouble that breaks a girl’s heart but leaves lasting memories. We aren’t kids anymore though and I’ve always wondered if Bennet Thompson could kiss me like he did in my dreams… Now that he’s back something tells me, tonight is going to be more than worth it.This is book 3 of the Fall in Love Again series and can be read on its own although you’ll want to read the others when you’re done! The Fall in Love Again series will feature Bennet and Bree falling in love on the small town fictional street of Cedar Lane over and over again while the real world has had other plans for them. Because love is endless and this is what forever means. In any and every life, their love was meant to be. And there’s so much to tell in the dreams where they get to meet again for the first time every night.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

PROLOGUE

Aubrey

I can’t help but smile as those fluttering feelings go through me. The little butterflies that just won’t quit whenever Bennet looks at me like that.

“Stop it,” I mutter as I playfully bat his right arm. “Focus on driving,” I tell him, grinning so hard my cheeks hurt and I’m certain they’re bright red as well. His hand lands on my bare thigh and the rough pad of his thumb runs soothing circles against my heated skin.

His charming smile stays right where it is as he glances at me from the driver's seat of his truck and promises he’s doing the best he can ‘when you look like that’.

“If you wanted me to focus on anything other than you, maybe you should have thought twice about that dress.”

“Oh yeah,” I play along, leaning closer to him and letting my hand fall on top of his. His touch does something to me I’ve never felt before.

“Yeah,” he tells me, glancing again at me with those puppy dog eyes. “I love that color on you.”

Love.

That little word has a ball of emotion swelling in my throat but I’m quick to swallow it down and I don’t think my expression changed in the least. Staring straight ahead I ignore the one word I’ve been hoping he’d say and instead I tell him, “well next time I’ll wear a paper bag.”

He chuckles deep and rough and I love it.

Just like I love the way he makes me feel, I love every minute we spend together… I love his flannel shirt that he never buttons. I love the white tee underneath that’s stretched tight over his broad shoulders. I love his tanned skin and the little grooves of his corded muscles, I love his jeans and the sound they make while he’s kicking them off and making my bed groan as we get lost in the sheets every night.

I don’t say what I want though when I glance back at him at the red light before we get back to his place from a long night out.

He winces slightly and then rubs the back of his neck.

“You looking to get a massage?” I ask him playfully and then offer it up rather than tease and torment Bennet. “You could just ask,” I tell him.

He chuckles again and then says it’s just a little headache but he’s more than happy to take me up on that offer.

Before the light turns green, I swear he’s about to say something else… something that brings a shine to his eyes, but the damn thing interrupts us… just like everything else in the small town that was never prepared for a love like ours.

AUBREY

I can’t shake the nerves from the day no matter what I do. For all intents and purposes, it was a wonderful meeting with the publishers, and the promotion to head editor is something I never expected. As I pull the high waisted floral skirt into place and adjust my white sleeve blouse so it’s loosely tucked in, I know I love my job but I never expected this.

It’s been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. Today feels like so much more. Digging through my makeup bag, I settle on a deep rouge lipstick that will pair well with my heels.

My phone pings and I suppress my sigh and eye roll and opt for a grin instead. The girls are taking me out tonight to celebrate and I wonder if that’s why I’m a bundle of nerves. It’s been a long damn time since we’ve been out on the town and I know they’re going to try to hook me up with someone.

And finding a guy, let alone hooking up with one, is not on my to do list.

The phone pings again on the sink countertop and I glance down at it.

The text reads: You almost ready?

Lauren is always ready early and she knows I’m almost always five minutes late.

I wouldn't be surprised if she walks across the street past her perfectly manicured rose bushes and knocks on my front door within the next two minutes.

Just as I pucker and smack my lips, there’s a knock on the door and I nearly laugh out loud. I know it’s not Lauren though when my front door opens.

“Bree!” I slip the lipstick into my clutch, snag my phone in my left hand, heels in the right. “Let’s go!” Marlena and Gemma both call out.

"I'm coming!" My heart beats even faster on the trip through my house to the entryway, where my friends are checking themselves out in the mirror by the door.I laugh at Gemma blowing herself a kiss in the mirror. Her little red cotton sun dress is adorable. "We just need--"

The front door opens again, and Lauren steps in.

"You did it!" she shouts, and then I'm surrounded by a hug and squeals from my friends, all of them shrieking with happiness.
From Wall Street Journal Best Selling Author Willow Winters comes a steamy, small town romance.

PROLOGUE

Aubrey

“I could lie here forever.” I’m barely able to murmur the words. Naked and sated, enveloped in warmth and comforted by his strong arm, holding me close to him. As if he’d need to hold me there to keep me close. My body molds to his easily, comfortably, as if this is where I’ve always belonged.

There’s a hint of a gruff inhale, one tinged with the masculine approval of a deep rumble. Instantly, a simper pulls at my lips.

“If that’s what you want,” he decides. He smirks down at me before turning on his side and lifting the sheet to hover over me.

He buries his head in the crook of my neck, leaving openmouthed kisses and letting his stubble tickle along my tender skin. My body bows on its own and my head pushes into the plush pillow as I let out a small laugh. With my palms weakly pressing against his hard chest, he nips my neck and I let out a gasp. Every nerve ending in my body lights on fire, all of that pleasure coming back to the surface, but exhaustion holds me back … that and something else.

“You wore me out,” I protest with a smile and peer up at him. I’m caught in his gaze, in a way I don’t expect, in a way that sears my soul.

It was just a fling, it was just fun, but as my heart races and my blood heats, I can’t deny it’s something else now. Something more. Something that feels like it was meant to be. Like I always belonged to him and he to me.

“Will you hold me, though?” I whisper and there’s something so delicate, so easily broken between us. A moment passes and I’m far too aware of the fragility of it all.

I love this man. I love him and he could so easily break my heart. Is it rare to know the moment? To have such certainty? The moment I begin to question it, Bennet brushes the tip of his nose against mine and then closes his eyes, resting his forehead against mine as he kisses my lips.

It all happens far too quickly before he says, “Of course I will, my sweetheart.”

I know then for sure, as the bed groans and he settles in beside me … very much more awake than I was a moment ago, this man took my heart. His to have and his to break. I didn’t give it to him. Not with conscious consent.

With one last kiss, he tells me to sleep well and to dream of him. All the while I can barely breathe with the realization. How did it happen so quickly?

How the hell did I let that happen at all?

AUBREY

“Miss Peters?” The deep voice I recognize easily from the other side of my front door belongs to Stewart.

With a stripe of hair removal cream on my right leg, my left a bit pink from rubbing it down a moment ago, I carefully make my way to the door, practically hobbling and yell, “Coming!”

It’s a small town; everyone knows everyone else and I’ve known Stew since he was ten years old and his family moved to Cedar Lane from the West Coast.

Cedar Lane is the epitome of East Coast suburbia tucked away in the lower bit of Pennsylvania. It’s the perfect location for peace and quiet, although there’s always something to gossip about over a cup of coffee on a neighbor’s porch.

The leaky pipe in my kitchen isn’t one of those things, or at least I didn’t think it was … until I open the door. My damp hair falls down my shoulders as I fist my robe, making sure it’s closed tight.

“Hey Stew—” My greeting is cut short. Suddenly I’m unable to tell him to come on in and that I’ll just be upstairs, staying out of his way.

My heart hammers as pale blue eyes gaze back at me. They’re accompanied by rough stubble, and kissable lips I remember all too well.

“You brought help?” I barely get out the words that are stuck in my throat. I will myself to stop staring, but I can’t. My heart skips a beat as I recognize a man I haven’t seen for years.

“You remember Bennet?” Stew asks me and I choke on a “yup” before clearing my throat and shaking off my rattled nerves.

Bennet Thompson is tall, dark and handsome, with a charming smile that would make any woman’s legs weak. “Nice to see you, Miss Peters,” he greets me and offers a courteous nod.

I swallow down a lump in my throat and give him a polite reply.

“You too. Thanks so much for coming.”

Stewart makes his way in and I have to step to the side. It’s then that the scent of the hair removal cream hits me and I realize I’ve only just gotten out of the shower so my long brunette hair is still wet. Without a drop of makeup on, I’m wearing an old cotton robe and I smell like … scorched hair.
From USA Today Best Selling author Willow Winters comes a steamy paranormal romance with fire play, fated mates, and a war brewing... Mine to have. All mine. My dragon is desperate. I crave to be fated to her even if it costs me everything... Chapter by chapter, enjoy this paranormal romance as I write it. It can be read as a standalone although it does connect to the Wounded Kiss world.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

PROLOGUE

Alec

At the Estate of the Authority

A small knock on the door makes my pen slip on the paper. I tap it against my desk as I watch the door part and open. I knew she wouldn’t wait for me to answer. My love, my beautiful little love. She pushes the door open with her gorgeous backside as she steadies the tray in her hands. An asymmetrical grin pulls at my lips. “You’ve brought me tea again? It’s nearly midnight.” I click the home button on my phone to double check—1:34 a.m. I close my eyes tightly and sigh in irritation. Time has gotten away from me yet again.

“It’s chamomile, Alec. You need to relax”—Isabella gently places the silver tray on the edge of the desk before slipping her petite frame between my legs—“and come to bed.” Her wide brown eyes find mine, as she lifts herself up to sit her lush ass in the center of the desk. I settle my forehead on her chest and wrap my arms around the small of her back. She runs her small hands through my hair and whispers, “Why don’t you come to bed with me tonight?”

I pull away from her warmth to look into her gorgeous eyes. “You know why.”

“But they’re going to find out regardless of what we do. You can’t stop it, Alec.”

“They’ll take you from me if they know how much you mean to me.” My blue eyes plead with her to understand. I kiss the dip in her neck, just below her throat. We’ve had this same conversation over and over. Sighing deeper, I sit back in the leather seat, readjusting. A frown mars my face. As a sorcerer, I am never to love or have companionship. It clouds the visions and intentions. Never in my life did I feel tempted…until her.

“They’re going to take me, Alec.” Her tone is mournful but absolute. With her hand slipping over mine, she adds, “You are not taking advantage of the time we have now.” Even as she states the tragic truth, happiness is evident on her face. She doesn’t fear her death, but I do. I can’t allow it to happen. I will do everything to protect her. Even if that means denying what I desire most.

“I can’t risk you.” I take her small hand in mine and kiss the gentle pulse of her wrist. She maneuvers herself and settles in my lap, wrapping her arms around my neck and kissing my cheek. Suppressing a groan of want and temptation, I resist moving at all. Not to pull her in closer and certainly not to push her away.

“It’s not up to you. The seers are never wrong.” I refuse to look at her as she speaks, so I stare at the back wall. It can’t be true. I won’t allow it to be true. The antique clock seems to tick louder and louder as I watch the time pass. There must be something I can do to prevent the fate the seers gave her. There’s always a way.

Loving her is a death sentence. One we both knew when temptation beckoned us.

She tilts my head with her small and dainty fingers on my chin so I’m forced to look into her eyes. “They’ll come for you once the war starts, and they’ll find me.” Her gaze searches mine. “You can’t stop it, just like you can’t stop this war.”

My response is harsher than I intend. “I won’t let them find you. I won’t.”

“So you’ll keep me locked away?” Her warm breath and sultry voice harden my cock instantly. Her fingertip plays along my lips before traveling down my chin and throat until it reaches the dip of my throat. She leans into my ear and whispers, “Will you keep me chained, Alec?” The image of her naked and bared to me is my undoing.

“Do you want me to chain you, Isabella?” My tone is smooth and teasing, although my heart beats faster with lust.

“I want you to let me love you while I can.” She scoots off my lap and onto the floor, settling between my legs. I place my hands on my thighs, my fingertips dig in, holding me still while she runs her hand over the bulge in my dark gray pants. Her firm breasts are pressed together, barely covered as the thin cloth of her linen robe slips down. Isabella is relentless in her need; she pushes my thighs farther apart.

“Bella.” There’s a trace of a warning in my voice, but she rises on her knees and places a gentle kiss on my chest just as the word leaves my mouth. The love in her action makes her name sound like a prayer as it passes by my lips.

When my eyes slowly open, I find hers still on me. “Please love me.” Her bright eyes are filled with a sadness that’s never there. My heart sinks and I immediately push the chair back, the legs grating on the old wood floors of my office. I get on my knees, carrying her with me, then cradle her face in my hand.
One glance at sweet, gorgeous Lena has my fists clenched and my wolf snarling… she’s mine, even if she bears the enemy’s claiming mark.

Full blurb reveal to come… The To Be Claimed Saga continues with Jude’s story.

This standalone novel contains a growly alpha werewolf that’s just as hot as he is protective. Guaranteed happily ever after.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Prologue

Jude

Even if my heart is racing, I blend in perfectly, just as I’ve been trained to do. The mud masks my scent and they have no fucking clue I’ve been watching them for hours. All the while an anxiousness fights against my instincts. Devin, my Alpha, tasked me with recon to get a good look at the enemy and their defenses. They targeted us first, threatened the Alpha mate… so they have this coming. I had my suspicions, but I never could have known how damn weak Shadow’s pack is. It’s unfortunate that addiction has destroyed their wolves. It’s more than obvious with their lazy sparring in between swigs of whiskey and snorts of cocaine. The arrogance that is Shadow, their Alpha, finally surfaced a few minutes ago with his young mate, and I hadn’t realized I could be shocked further.

I anticipated feeling pity for this pack, like I have so many others that have young pups and difficulties my pack can only imagine. Until last week, we were only a small pack of males—not a single one of us had found our mate. With the damage fate raised us with before bringing the Shadow Falls pack together, I thought it best there was no one to share this life with. So when it comes to other packs, ones with children, I have mercy.

Not this time. The longer I observe, the angrier I become. It’s a little too close to what was once my home.

The Alpha mate, a petite and rather thin brunette with slicked-back hair, smirks as she kicks the two pups to the side. “Move and wait your turn,” she speaks loud enough for the entire camp to hear. Although, I’m unsure the pups understand. They’re both in poor health and have poor hygiene. As are the half a dozen adults sharing the charred meal of venison around the open flames. With torn jeans and simple shirts stained with blood and dirt, the elders of the pack pay no mind to anything apart from their meal. Merely pushed to the side, the two pups seem to gather up energy to continue their efforts, desperate to get at the bones the males are tossing to the side around the fire pit.

I would be shocked if the pups were hers, although no other adult seems to care. Two men glance back over their shoulder before scooting down the makeshift bench to provide a spot for their Alpha mate. The two other women don’t spare the pups a glance, even with the faint yelp from the smallest.

It’s sickening to watch. My mind races with possibilities that the two are runts and are practically abandoned, or that the mother passed bringing them here.

Taking stock of the women gathered around the fire, I’m not given any clues to the pups, only to their addiction and poor health. I’m surprised their bones aren’t poking through the thin flesh covering their frail bodies.

A strangled sob from a hut on the left of the clearing captures my attention. It also catches Shadow’s mate’s attention, and she rises instantly, standing so quickly five of the six pack members around the fire watch her carefully. Not the Alpha though. Shadow doesn’t bother looking up from his food. “Leave her alone.”

“Why is that bitch even allowed to breathe the same air as me?” she hisses at her Alpha. Shadow blended into the pack before, but her comment raises his hackles, his spine stiffens as he straightens his shoulders toward her. There’s a menacing dominance about him, and the other men still, waiting and watching.

His cold eyes finally meet hers as he sneers, “Because she’s pregnant with my pup.” My heart beats once out of turn as I take in the scene. My emotions are far too high from the sight before me.

Her nose scrunches in disgust. “That’s your fault for taking a mate that wasn’t yours.” I suppress the growl growing in my chest. A mate is for life, yet he’s taken two. One of which isn’t his true mate? As the scene unfolds, my wolf paces faster and presses against my chest. So much is wrong, but holding my wolf back has never been a challenge before.

Shadow rises from his seat on the log bench around the fire and stalks to his mate. She stands defiantly before cowering slightly, seeming to resign herself to her fate. His hand whips through the air, slaps her cheek, and busts her lip open. The smack makes one of the other women flinch, but the men don’t move. No one says a word as the Alpha mate lands hard on her side in the dirt. I feel bile rise up my throat, but I stay still and will my disgust down.
Something in his tone he’s never given me before. We’ve been on again and off again for years now. Something tonight is different.

“Of course I do.” During all that’s happened, he’s always cared for me. God knows I’ve been to hell and back with a bottle of tequila, and he’s been there all through the night and in the morning. He’s cared in other ways too. Ones that give me this insecure feeling I can’t shake. The wind blusters in, shifting the curtains and the moonlight stirs in the expansive room. There were boundaries before tonight, boundaries that seem to disappear when he looks at me like that.

James is the only lover I’ve ever had who’s kept my secrets … he’s the only one I’ve told the darkest ones to.

“Then why won’t you talk to me?” he asks.

As a chill sweeps along my shoulders, I pull the covers up higher, settling deeper into the bed.

“I think I love you,” I tell him, although I’m reluctant to admit it. I roll onto my side as I do, pulling the satin sheets with me and ignoring the groan of the bed. I’m still sore between my thighs and I have to hold back a sated moan of content. The fan revolves in the silence and I turn from looking at the shadows it casts on the ceiling to stare at the man who’s making me remember too much, making me feel too much.

James … my on-again, off-again lover I can’t resist.

His lips quirk up into a cocky smirk as he props himself up on one elbow and then moves a hand beside me, so that he towers slightly over me. Still silent, not giving an inch and only finding amusement in my statement.

A humorless laugh leaves me, and I press against his chest but he doesn’t move. He continues staring down at me, watching and waiting. For what? I don’t know.

“Leave me be, you sex fiend,” I tease. “Sleep is tempting me and I’d like to take it up on its offer if I can.” He knows how hard it is for me to sleep. Insomnia is something that bonded us. Oddly, with him in my bed, I sleep so much better. Rolling onto my side I pretend to ignore him and he lies down beside me, then nips the lobe of my ear, making me squeal. I can’t help that the slight pain sends a ripple of want through me, reviving the pleasure I felt only moments ago.

“You think you love me?” he questions with a hint of awe in his tone and I’m forced to look at him over my shoulder.

It’s hard to tell if he’s toying with me. If he’s playing around like we do with each other or if he’s being serious.

“I have feelings for you,” I whisper back, unwilling to be open and vulnerable until he is first. For some reason, when I look at him, refusing to give him what he wants, my chest aches. There’s a tenderness for him I haven’t felt before.

“Tell me you love me,” he commands and my bottom lip drops, my body already wanting to give him anything he demands. It’s dangerous, though. Especially for a girl like me. Kamden’s warning is there on the tip of my tongue. Money is a drug that people will do anything and everything to obtain, and it can leave you with nothing. Love doesn’t change that and my name alone is worth enough money that no one outside of my inner circle can ever be fully trusted. But Kamden knows James, and he knows what James knows.

That chill comes back again.

James’s eyebrow cocks humorously. If he knew the thoughts racing in my mind, he wouldn’t think it was so funny.

My expression slips before I can stop it and he moves to hover over me. “What’s wrong?”

Pushing away from him, I wish he would stop. I wish it would all stop. “I don’t want this life anymore. I don’t—”

“El, I can give you whatever you want.”

“Promises, promises,” I whisper with my eyes closed, not wanting to think.

“I can promise you the world,” he says with such sincerity my throat closes.

They’re the same promises my father gave my mother. The assurances that fool women into trusting men and leaning on them, into loving with everything they have. It’s all too much.
