This close, it was hard to see Alex’s blush, but I could feel the heat rising to his cheeks. “I don’t know what came over me,” he said with a light chuckle. “I always thought it was annoying when someone had a possessive boyfriend—”
“Gee, thanks.”
He laughed again. “But tonight… your eyes. Fuck, Ryder, knowing how badly you did not want that guy to touch me got me so freaking hard. I was afraid I was going to tear through my stupid uniform.”
“Well, if my snarling at twinky college boys is going to pull that reaction out of you, I might start hiring them to hit on you in front of me.”
His eyes narrowed. “Don’t you dare. As much as you hated watching it, I hated feeling it.”
I kissed his nose. “You say the sweetest things.”
Alex peered over my shoulder with a wince. “Shit, looks like we have some cleaning to do.”
“You don’t think we should leave it like this for Parker to find tomorrow morning?”
If horror were a picture in the dictionary, it’d be the expression on Alex’s face right then. His eyes nearly fell out of his head, and his jaw hit the floor while he shook his head so fast, his sweaty hair flopped side to side.
“Relax,” I said as I playfully shoved him off me. “I would never.”
We used the napkins on the table to clean our dicks as best we could then hiked up our pants. Once relatively decent, I said, “We sanitize, then head over to check on your mom?”
He nodded. “If that’s okay.”
I rolled my eyes. “When is it ever not okay with me if you check on your mom?”
“Never. I just—”
I stepped up to him and kissed his frowning lips. “I know. You just worry it’s too much, and I’ll get annoyed. Well, it’s not, and I won’t. I’m more than happy to check on her any time of day or night. Okay?” It’d become somewhat of a ritual for us to stop by Alex’s house after shifts at Top Shelf. Some nights, his mom was sound asleep in bed, cell phone on the pillow next to her in case of an emergency. Sometimes, she was on the couch, having been too fatigued to get into her wheelchair herself, so we’d help get her settled for the night. And sometimes, she was snoozing in her chair or watching television. Never once had I complained because it genuinely didn’t bother me at all. I was dating Alex, and he came with important responsibilities.
No problem.
Yet he always got this apologetic look on his face as if he needed to make up for burdening me in such a great way. Hopefully, one day he’d realize I didn’t view his mother as a burden. His brother, on the other hand, well, I’d like to kick that little shit’s ass. Never once did he help Alex or even offer to lift a damn finger or toss a dime toward the family’s finances. The guy was the definition of a lazy mooch, and it pissed me the fuck off. So far, I’d kept my lips zipped and my opinion to myself because Alex didn’t need me telling him. He knew it and resented it. But what could he do? Though he paid ninety percent of the bills, with a tiny amount of assistance coming from his mother’s disability stipend, it was technically her house, and she didn’t have the heart to boot Kenny out on his slothful ass.
“Okay,” he said with a rueful smile, though I knew it wouldn’t be the last time I had to reassure him. “Thanks, Ry. She was feeling a little under the weather earlier today, so I want to make sure she’s not getting a cold.”
I grabbed his hand as we walked toward the supply closet to grab the industrial-strength disinfectant. That stuff was strong enough to strip the freckles off a redhead, so it should have no problem removing the lovely cum mess I’d made on the table.
“Should we stay there tonight?” I asked as Alex glanced down at our joined hands with a smirk.
Yes, I liked to touch him all the time, even if we were walking fifteen feet to get some cleaner. Sue me.
“Would that be all right with you?”
I rolled my eyes. “Yes, Alex, it would be all right with me. It’s always all right with me.”
“Okay, yeah. I think it would be a good idea.”
Another point of stress for Alex was sleeping at his place. He’d convinced himself his house wasn’t good enough for me, and I shouldn’t be sleeping there. It’d taken a week of twice-a-day blow jobs for me to wear him down enough to let me stay over the first time. We mostly stay at my place. Yes, it was more comfortable and more private, but I was happy to stay at his house any night. Even if he didn’t have people who needed him, I’d be glad to sleep there. Clearly, I needed to do something to convince my boyfriend I wasn’t the hoity-toity snob he seemed to think I was.
