Happy.

Sad.

Devastated.

Excited.

There wasn’t an emotion, a time, a memory that didn’t involve her in it in one way or another. However, I’d never seen her quite like this…

She stood against the railing with her lips slightly parted, and I wanted to know what she was thinking. What she was feeling.

“This is simply incredible, Ethan. How have we never been here before? I didn’t even know this place existed.”

My feet moved on their own accord until I suddenly stood behind her. Her breathing hitched as soon as she felt my chest against her back.

She didn’t turn around.

She didn’t move.

I wasn’t sure she was even breathing.

For a minute, I breathed her in. I felt the heat of her body burning into me more and more with each second that passed between us. Leaning in, just inches away from the back of her neck, I let my breath brush against her ear.

My head spun in a whirlwind of feelings, and I allowed myself to get lost in them.

In her.

I could sense that her eyes followed the movement of my strong arms as they came around her body. Skimming the sides of her ribs, I placed my hands on the railing in front of her, caging her against my torso.

My scent.

My thoughts.

My words.

My emotions.

They all seemed to intertwine with one another, pushing and pulling like a game of tug-of-war.

I heard her take a deep breath, knowing she was happy. In the grand scheme of things, this was a very simple gesture, but to Livvy, this meant everything, and I hadn’t gotten to the biggest surprise yet. It was one of the traits I loved the most about her. She wasn’t like other girls. It was the simple stuff that truly made her smile.

For me, the hardest part of her moving was that I wouldn’t be there to experience another monumental independent moment in her life. It was the hardest pill to swallow, but I couldn’t hold her back from experiencing new things without me.

However, I didn’t have to fucking like it either.

My role in her life was to be there for her when she needed me, and this situation wasn’t any different. Kissing her neck, I let my lip linger momentarily before grabbing her hand and leading her deeper into the forest. It didn’t take long to step into the surprise I had waiting for her.

The moment she saw the jars of ladybugs, she loudly gasped.

In her ear, I rasped, “I thought we could free them.”

“I can’t believe you did this.”

She opened the first jar to set a few of them free. Without her noticing, I started to film her with my phone. Wanting to record this memory so that I could watch it whenever I wanted. She looked like a Disney princess, spinning around as she freed all the ladybugs. Loving every second of it.

She thanked me during the entire drive to the indoor amusement park, and when we pulled into the parking lot, she climbed in my lap and showed me how thankful she truly was by riding my cock.

Livvy was as competitive as they come. After I beat her at every single game, she claimed I was cheating and didn’t want to play with me anymore, so I took her on the Ferris wheel and reminded her that she wanted to play with me just fine instead.

“Wow… you really went all out for our first date,” she coaxed, sitting in front of me at the restaurant for dinner.

“It’s not over.” I smiled, setting a wrapped box in the center of us on the table.

“What is that?”

“Open it and find out.”

She picked it up. “But you wrapped it so nicely.”

“I do what I can.”

“Why am I getting a present?”

“In case we can’t be together on your birthday.”

She sadly smiled. “Right…” Shaking it off, she opened it. “Ethan…”

It was a gold necklace with a key hanging off it.

We locked eyes.

“Why a key?”

I didn’t hesitate to reply…

“Because you own my heart.”

Chapter

Eleven

Ethan

Summer was almost over.

Livvy would be leaving to move to California soon. Two weeks to be exact. I had no fucking clue where we went from here. We only briefly discussed it that one time when she asked me what we were to each other. Now that her moving day was quickly approaching, it felt like a ticking time bomb waiting to explode.

How do we go back to just being best friends after this summer?

It changed everything. Looking back on it now, I began to feel like Livvy regretted how far we’d taken things. For the past few days, she had begun to pull away from me.

She was quiet.

Inattentive and unresponsive.

Half the time, she seemed as if she was lost in her own little world.

At the end of the day, all that truly mattered to me was our friendship. I had said that since day one before we started any of this on prom night.
