“I see why you can’t make it onto the slopes, West,” Trouble says, smirking at me with her arms crossed.

“Ooh, we were just getting to know each other,” the snow bunny teases Trouble. I roll my eyes because I haven’t done anything wrong, while she spent the day yesterday surrounded by other men, flirting and chatting it up.

I’d gotten message after message from my brothers. There had been a guy my woman was hanging around with all day. They even had to stop them from kissing. I could smash his face in. My brain throbs as I consider how close things came between her and someone else.

What the hell am I supposed to do about that little prick? I know what the fuck I want to do, but killing that asshole is against the law and someone would link it to me for sure because there are too many witnesses seeing them together.

“I didn’t mean to interrupt. I’m not interested in anything he has to offer. I just want you to tell your attack dogs to back off. Just because I’m not old enough for you doesn’t mean I’m not old enough for boys my age.” She moves past before I can grab at her arm, and the damn bimbo gets in my way.

“Well, it looks like she won’t be a problem.”

“Look, I’m not sure where you got the idea that I want anything to do with you, but I don’t.”

“I thought we had a connection.”

“What? Have we even met?”

“I worked at the desk yesterday.” Oh. Did she think I was flirting with her? Holy hell. I was thinking about the conversation.

“So Miss…um…Sarah.”

“Yes,” she says. “How can I help you?”

“Um…my mother ordered our rooms and there’s been some mix-up.”

“Oh, goodness. Let me get that straightened out. What’s the name?”

“Simon West.”

“I like that name, but I’m going to need the name on the account.”

“That’s what it’s booked under.”

“Oh, I thought you were giving me yours,” she giggles.

“Well, it’s my name as well. I’m named after my father.”

“Oh, this explains the mix-up here. Someone assumed from the name that it was double booked and canceled the room. I’m sorry about that. We can get you a new room, but unfortunately it’s on the opposite side of the resort where the school kids are at,” she sighs.

“Are you serious?” I scowl.

“I’m sorry, sir, but…oh shit, my boss is coming. I’m going to get fired for this mix-up.”

I start laughing and tap my ID on the counter. “I’ll have to take that last room. I should have booked sooner. Thanks for taking care of it,” I say, winking at her. As shitty as the problem is, I don’t want the girl to get fired.

I shake my head. “I’m sorry, but I was just trying to let you keep your job. I don’t want anything to do with you.”

“Well, that girl is still a girl, obviously, and too young for you. I’m your age.”

“Nothing about you is relevant. Besides, she lives in my town, and I’ve been in love with her for years, so mind your fucking business.” I storm away back to my room, annoyed by the fucking girl whose name I couldn’t remember.

I toss the book on my bed and punch the damn door. That woman messed up my relationship. No, I messed it up, but she added the fucking final nail in the coffin. Damn it. I don’t know how to fix it when I only have months to go.

There’s a knock at my door, and it’s my mother. “What’s up, Mom?” I ask as I open it, giving her room to enter. She steps inside and closes the door behind her.

“We’re going to dinner at the restaurant next to the hotel, sweetie. Are you going to join us?”

“I’ll be down shortly.”

“Good. Things will get better with Vivian. You’re only a few months away, and you can still work out the misunderstandings.”

“Thanks. We’ll see.”

I jump in the shower, and I step out with a towel wrapped around my waist. I nearly fall back on my ass when I see the girl from the lobby there. “What the fuck?”

“Sorry, I thought you could use some towels.” She looks down at my towel and gasps. I wish I’d beaten off in the shower, but then she would have heard or seen me since she felt the need to just walk in.

“Since when are you part of housekeeping?” I question through my clenched teeth.

“Damn. You don’t have to be rude, but I can’t see why you’re all hung up on her when you’re packing all that for a girl who is out there flirting with all the little boys, and there are grown women who would handle you just right.”

“Get the fuck out of my room before I throw you out,” I roar. She drops the towels on the bed, and that’s when I notice that her top buttons are undone. “What the fuck kind of game are you playing? I’m going to call your damn boss. Get out, now, or I’ll have you fired. Don’t even think of trying to claim any assault bullshit, either. My mother was just in here, and she’s expecting me for dinner.”
