“Is it gonna be weird if I say Eric told me to be careful around you?”
Tension ratcheted up in me. Maybe Eric was better at determining if someone wasn’t under the grip of the mother system. If that was the case, Twink had no idea Eric was the one harming him, not me.
“If you don’t want to see my place, I’ll understand.”
“No, no. I really want to.”
Between radiating intensity of emotion—matching up with other times he was excited by my form—and the way he eyed my crotch, it was apparent he was talking about more than seeing where I was staying. He wanted to mate. At least, that was as much as I gathered from my limited understanding of him.
My heart fluttered as my cock lengthened even more.
As he gulped, I sensed a different sort of uneasiness within him. Mixed with excitement, adrenaline was pulsing through him, his pheromones hitting my senses just right, intoxicating the Furker in me that just wanted to give him what he wanted. Unfortunately, I had more important matters to tend to.
As we came to the vent leading into the Kaylog, I turned to Twink. His gaze met mine, and he licked his lips.
“Twink?”
“Yeah?”
I sensed the desire in his tone, and the images that pulsed through my DNA, displaying all the ways I could take him in this body, taunted me. I battled these impulses, reminding myself of my duty as a Furker—never lose control.
“I want you to know I don’t mean you any harm,” I assured him, which made him tilt his head. “I want to help, Twink.”
“Help with…?”
“Let me show you.”
I approached the wall of my disguised ship, ducked down, and popped open the vent. As I turned to him, I noticed his stiff expression, but emotions pushed through him in such a wild frenzy, it was difficult for me to separate and understand them.
“Um…what’s going on?” he asked.
“I need to show you something important.”
“In a vent? In an alley?”
I nodded, and he glanced either way, his feet shifting subtly. Just as I figured, Chelsea had a psychological hold on him.
He snickered, though this wasn’t like the other times, because I now sensed more than uneasiness. I sensed fear.
“Listen, Twink. It’s not safe to discuss this out in the open. If you get in here with me, I can explain everything.”
His body trembled, and I instinctively moved closer, but that only intensified the unpleasant emotions coursing through him. No, this wasn’t how this was supposed to happen. I’d hoped to bring him in willingly, but that was quickly becoming untenable. I needed to find a way to manage this situation.
“Please,” I said, taking another step toward him. “I can explain everything once you get in there.”
His chin quivered, and he moved swiftly. I saw a flash of something in his hand before a mist filled the air, striking my eyes. Pain gripped this body, sending me to my knees. I couldn’t see, and my Furker instincts kicked in, heightening my awareness of my surroundings. Blinded, I could only hear the footsteps rushing away from me, so I released a tentacle. I did a broad sweep until I felt what must’ve been his leg, which I twisted my limb around.
“The fuck!” he called out as I sent another tentacle to restrain him. “Help! Help!”
He was making this so difficult that I had to cover his mouth, and as he struggled in my grasp, I realized the safest thing to do to keep him from harming himself was to inject him with the smallest dose of my sedative. It was something I normally would have been practical about, using it without any qualms, but this form had made me more acutely aware of the guilt I experienced when doing anything that distressed Twink.
He relaxed in my hold as the venom did its work.
Now if I could figure out what to do about my burning eyes.

TWINK
That was how I died…
Well, at least I thought I was dead.
Should’ve known.
When Daddy went psycho on me, I kept thinking about what Eric said when I told him we were getting together:
“There’s a lot of red flags there.”
“You should not be meeting this man anywhere.”
“He’s literally going to kill you.”
At the time, I thought him dramatic, especially considering I’d already spent a night with the guy—hell, if he’d wanted to kill me, he could have done it then.
My eyes flitted open, and I recovered from being knocked unconscious, struggling to remember what exactly had occurred. I’d been nervous about following Daddy into an alley, but it was broad daylight. Then he’d stopped and told me to get into a vent, which assured me I’d made a mistake by not listening to Eric. I pepper-sprayed the serial-killing bastard, which was as much as I could recall before becoming far more concerned with my immediate circumstances—I was restrained to a table, with bright, oval white and blue lights overhead. The blue lights faded in and out.
