Huffing, Lorne folded his arms across his chest and over the ones that were currently still wrapped around him. “Fine. Limits conversations first.”

Instead of pushing back against what I thought were mostly reasonable rules even if we all had to agree on them first, his mind jumped to a new topic. “Can we find my phone? When do I get my first date? Does privacy mean I can tell everyone that we’re mates? I think they already know but I want to be sure. Oh, and can I jerk off still since we haven’t talked about limits yet?”

Leaning closer to Monroe, Lorne dropped his voice. “He looks like the control orgasms type of Dom.”

Monroe nodded and did a bad stage whisper. “We haven’t really discussed that, but you’re probably right.”

And the monkey’s brain skipped again.

“What have you discussed? When did you meet?” The little monkey’s head was swinging back and forth as he fired off his questions. “When did you know you were mates? Have you had sex? Are you both tops? That’d be frustrating and it would explain why fate gave me to you.”

Lorne finally took a breath, letting Monroe jump in. “See, this is why we need to date.”

As Lorne sighed, Monroe got a few of the questions out of the way. “We went to high school at the same time, but technically, the mate spark didn’t happen until he came back to live here again. We’ve talked about our views on domination and what types we prefer but didn’t break down the specifics.”

“The rest you’ll need to date us to find out.” It was my turn to jump in and earn a dramatic whine from Monroe’s monkey. “Besides, I haven’t even gotten a hug or a handshake, so I’m not inclined to share yet. I need to be wooed.”

Lorne’s head cocked. “He’s very dramatic.”

“You’re never going to get a spanking at the rate you’re going with him.” Monroe’s obvious point made Lorne groan.

“I know. It’s hopeless.” He didn’t stay down long, though. “I climbed you first and then you just kind of picked me up and plopped me down on your lap, so he shouldn’t be jealous.”

I wasn’t sure that was the right way to explain my emotions, but going into detail on that wasn’t going to happen until I knew he liked being my mate.

“But making him feel welcome and desired might go a long way in sweetening up your mage.” Dropping his voice, Monroe gave it a teasing lilt as he leaned closer and pretended to whisper again. “Monsters and tentacles, remember?”

Nodding, Lorne started thinking, bouncing his head from side to side. “That’s very true. And spankings and he’s my mate, so I kind of want him to like me.”

Just kind of?

“Then aim some of that flirty curiosity at your mage.” Monroe managed not to laugh or roll his eyes, but I wasn’t sure I could’ve managed it. “Two mates are much more fun than one, but only if you get to know both of them.”

Lorne’s head bob started again and it was obvious he was analyzing the situation. “It’s a lot to learn. I only thought I’d have to manipulate one Dom, not two. You’re both very different.”

As I sighed, Monroe laughed. “I’m not sure that was what you should’ve shared, monkey.”

Shrugging, Lorne didn’t seem to agree. “It’s true.”

It was good to see that his definition of manipulation didn’t have lying in it, but it left the rest of what he meant slightly vague.

I liked complicated people…but he was going to drive me insane if he wasn’t careful. I had every intention of telling him that too when he quietly rose from Monroe’s lap and took a step in my direction. Even Monroe went still as Lorne moved closer, so I didn’t feel bad about being surprised as he came toward me.

“What…what kind of Daddy will Daddy Monroe be?” His slightly random question shook the shock off me, but he explained his thoughts before I could figure out a response. “You didn’t want to talk about private things yet.”

He might’ve had a point.

That was slightly frustrating.

“Thank you for trying to come up with a conversation I’d be comfortable with.” He must’ve heard the sincerity in my voice because his next step had a bounce, and a smile was peeking out from his too serious expression. “I appreciate you being so thoughtful.”

He didn’t seem to think that asking me about his other mate was weird, which was good to know. I didn’t want that to be something stressful between us. I’d seen some people struggle with having a triad and I didn’t want that for us.

“Thank you, Sir.” He came to a stop just in front of me before rocking back and forth on his toes. “I like your watch.”

I wasn’t surprised.

“It sparkles.” As I twisted my hand back and forth, the small diamonds inset around the face twinkled in the light and I completely lost Lorne’s attention.
