And losing Hale could very well kill him.

Harrison’s arms tightened, squeezing him as close as possible. Hale must have sensed where his thoughts had gone, because he also tightened his arms.

“It’s going to be okay,” he said softly. “We’re going to grow old and gray together.”

“I thought you guys lived forever.”

“Then we live together forever. No matter what happens, we’re going to have each other. I can’t wait for you to meet my brothers. I’ll warn you, they’ll give you such a hard time.”

“I can handle your brothers.” He kissed Hale’s forehead. “I can handle anything with you by my side.”

“Didn’t know you were such a romantic.”

“Neither did I. But I never expected to have a soul mate. I’m so lucky.” He stroked his hand over Hale’s supple back.

“Even though I’m a male?”

“I’m pretty sure I would have fallen for you regardless. I love exactly what and who you are.”

“I love you, too, Harrison.”

He knew they should try and sleep, but he also worried they wouldn’t have enough time together, and he wanted Hale. Wanted every precious second they had together. He rolled on top of him and tried to see his face, but it was too dark. Still, he stared down, having that beautiful face memorized and he brushed Hale’s hair back. “I want to make love again. This time, I want to feel your ass around me again. But we’re going to eventually do it the other way, too. I want to feel that as well.”

“I like it either way, but I’m happy to bottom for you as much as you want. Love it.”

“Do we have condoms and lube?”

“Don’t need the condoms anymore, but the lube is right next to us.” Hale chuckled. “I knew we’d need it, so I prepared.”

“Love a man who thinks ahead of the game.”

“You just love me.”

“I do,” Harrison whispered as he kissed him. “I do.”

Chapter

Twenty-One

Sedona was a pretty town with sidewalk cafes and numerous outdoor sculptures, all with the incredible vista of red-rock buttes beyond. They drove down the main street, and it seemed they could take their pick of new-age shops.

Hale reached out to take Harrison’s hand and held it as he took in the wide sidewalks and plazas. They’d had sex long into the night and he was pleasantly sore and a little tired today, but he wouldn’t trade that time spent with Harrison for all the sleep in the world. The man had touched him like he was something precious, stealing his breath away more than once.

“Wiley must have found a good place,” Grey said as he pulled the SUV into an open spot.

Hale wasn’t sure what they hoped to find in the fairly large shop, but along with the others, he hoped for some clue to help them once they reached the rift. Clay was sure the rift lay up in the Red Rock Mountains. The Earth Weaver was still feeling the drain on the earth. His face remained pale and heavily lined with fatigue.

Hale reluctantly let go of Harrison’s hand and got out. Stretching his arms over his head, he reveled in the pleasure and burn of muscles moving after being in the cramped car for so long. The sun warmed his face, although the air was slightly chilly.

The shopkeeper looked up with a pleasant smile as they walked in; then her eyes grew wide when she saw the size of their group. Dollar bills were practically floating over her blond head as she rushed around the counter to come greet them.

“Hello! Welcome to Mystic Encounters. How can I help you?” She wore a long, multi-colored skirt and a cute little pink sweater. Long, feathery earrings dangled from her ears. Hale was amused to see flip-flops on her feet despite the cool weather.

Clay walked forward to shake her hand. “We’re new to your town, so we’d like to learn more.”

“Oh, there is so much to do and see here, you’re going to love it. We have many historical places, and we were the first to do so many things, including electric service. But since you’re in a mystical shop, I bet you’re wondering about why we’re such a spiritual town.” She waved at a map on the wall. “We’re famous for our vortex sites. The energy here is spectacular—I bet you can feel it.”

“I can,” Clay agreed.

“It’s the best place for rejuvenation or even spiritual awakening. And if you’re into UFOs, we have tours and more.”

Wiley walked to a wall of books. “Can you tell me more about these books?”

“Sure!” She hurried to Wiley and while they discussed the books, Hale poked around the shop.

Crystals of all colors, shapes, and sizes filled the shelves. The same with candles. He studied a wall of what he believed were ritual tools like sage, bottles of essential oils, knifelike instruments, and tons of incense. There were so many smells to the place, he couldn’t make any out—it was like one blur of scents that kind of gave him a headache.
