“Your man,” I countered.

She patted my hand, her ring catching the light, the diamonds casting shimmers on the water. My heavy platinum band shone against my skin. It was simple and plain, but it meant the world to me. The inscription inside said it all.

Always my love—yours forever.

Her inscription was straightforward.

Mo fhiadh beag.

“What do you want to do today?” I asked. “Walk to the village? Take out the boat? Go for a picnic?”

“Hmm,” she replied. “It’s a special day. Maybe all three.”

“Special?”

“Eight months since we got married.”

“Ah, yes. It is. That was a good day.” I gathered her closer. “My favorite one.”

She sighed. “It was. I loved every moment of it.”

We’d married in the hotel at dusk. The room Finn had let us use was filled with candles and flowers. Only those closest to us were there. It was a small but perfect group. Lynn and Roisin sat beside each other, holding hands and weeping over the ceremony, both possessing the honorary title of Mum. Bonnie sat with them, beaming. Autumn wore a dress that suited her name. Creamy ivory with a full skirt, covered in embroidered flowers that danced and moved as she walked. I wore a tux at her request. We said short vows and exchanged rings, and then I got to kiss my wife.

We celebrated with a dinner upstairs and dancing. Lots of champagne. Well-wishes. Love. Then I took my wife to our room, and we celebrated in a very different sort of way. One that had no clothing, no time frame, and lots of orgasms.

We’d both loved every moment of it.

I pressed a kiss to her head as the memories drifted by. “Then that is what we’re going to do. Walk to the village. Pick out some food and wine. Take the boat out and have a picnic wherever we decide to dock.”

“Sounds perfect.”

“Then we’ll come back here and recreate our wedding night. Maybe add in something new.”

“Oh yeah,” she murmured. “You got some new moves, old man?”

I bit her neck, loving the shivers that ran down her spine. “Enough cheek from you, Mrs. Black.”

She jumped up, looking down at me with a grin. “Maybe you need to catch me and show me a move or two before we leave, Mr. Black.”

“Oh, is that a fact, lass?” I asked.

“Mm-hmm.”

“Then I’ll give you a head start. One—”

She took off, laughing. We both knew I’d catch her before she reached the cottage. Carry her back to our bed and strip her of her clothing, then make love to her until she cried out my name. At least twice.

I stood and stretched, then looked over my shoulder. She was waiting, peeking around the corner, as anxious for me to catch her as I was to have her in my arms.

I grinned.

Then I took off running.

Her squeal when I caught her seconds later made me laugh.

Her breathy sighs moments later were perfect.

Mo fhiadh beag. My little fawn.

My life.
