He wanted Deacon to hold him down and fuck him, slow and deep.

His dick began to get a little overexcited.

Deacon turned to him, didn’t seem to notice, and asked, “What?”

“Nothing. Just glad I’m here.”

“I’m glad you’re here too.”

Grady rolled to his side, pulling the blanket up to his waist to cover his erection, which kept growing. Deacon went down on his side too, the two of them facing each other, their heads propped on their hands, elbows on the floor.

“Because I give you my socks when we’re trapped during a fierce storm?” The wind was still howling outside, gusts picking up here and there.

“Is there another reason?” Deke teased.

“Maybe you lured me to your cabin during a storm for ulterior motives. Maybe I’m going to tie you to the bed until you give me the secret recipes to all your ice cream. I gave you my socks so you would think I’m a nice guy, but really…you’re in trouble, man.”

They were close enough that Deacon’s warm breath swept over Grady’s face when he laughed. It was right and deep and full of so much joy. It nearly killed Grady not to reach out and touch him, to trace Deacon’s lips with his tongue, to taste him and make him feel good in every way.

Grady realized the room was silent, that Deacon hadn’t replied. When his gaze found Deacon’s eyes, they were on Grady’s lip. On reflex he licked them, Deacon still watching. Grady’s heart raced as Deacon sucked in a long breath. And then slowly, so damn slowly that Grady thought he could live a lifetime in that hesitation, Deacon was leaning in, brushing his lips softly over Grady’s, Deacon’s facial hair against his skin like he’d been thinking about only moments before.

He kissed Deacon back. They weren’t using tongue, just gentle meetings of lips over and over and over again.

“Shit. I’m sorry,” Deacon said. “I don’t know why I did that.” He pulled back but didn’t go far.

Grady raised his hand, touched his own mouth in awe, as if he’d never been kissed before. “You don’t have to apologize to me. I’ve been thinking about doing it, wishing I could taste you for a while now.”

“Me too,” Deacon admitted before his mouth covered Grady’s again.

This kiss was hungrier, less unsure. His tongue pushed past Grady’s lips, swept inside. He tangled his hand in Grady’s hair, held the back of his head, tugging Grady closer. It took everything inside him not to take over, not to push Deacon to his back, climb on top of him, and show Deacon just how much he wanted him.

“Goddamn, you feel good.” Deacon’s mouth trailed down his jaw. To make it easier, Grady risked rolling to his back, Deacon’s mouth chasing his. He didn’t lie on Grady, just curled up beside him, bodies touching, hand on his cheek, looking down at him before taking possession of Grady’s mouth again.

It was as if he was starving, yet taking his time to enjoy his meal. He went from Grady’s mouth to his cheek, jaw, neck, earlobe…kissing, licking, sucking, nibbling, savoring.

Grady’s cock ached. It’d been a long time since he’d gotten off with anyone other than himself, but even if he had, it would be different with Deacon.

Deacon’s lips stopped moving, his forehead resting against Grady’s, a strong hand on his cheek, and this was when Grady expected reality to set in, for Deacon to acknowledge he’d kissed a man…his dead wife’s brother’s best friend…but if he did, it didn’t stop him. Deacon just said, “I can’t seem to stop kissing you.”

“Don’t stop, then.” Deacon pulled back some, but this time, it was Grady who leaned forward and kissed him, who held his face. “We good?”

“Unless this is when you tie me to the bed to steal my recipes.” Deacon smiled, and Grady kissed it, tasted his joy-flavored lips. “I feel…different when I’m with you. Better. Like maybe I’m not just biding time anymore.”

Grady tensed up without meaning to, but he didn’t know what to do with that.

“Too much? I don’t…”

“Not too much, just can’t quite believe you chose me.”

“Doesn’t seem like I have it in me to choose anyone else. People been tryin’ for three years to make me feel something, and suddenly there you are, not tryin’ at all, and you open me up, unlock feelings inside me I thought were done and buried. Making me want again, when I couldn’t find it in myself to care much before.” He brushed the tips of his fingers along Grady’s temple, down his face. “What is it about you? Doesn’t even matter that you’re a man, and I’ve never…”

Grady had his thoughts about that, wondered if maybe Deacon was demisexual or somewhere on the ace spectrum. Or hell, maybe Grady was just the luckiest sonofabitch alive. “Let me make you feel good,” he pleaded, his voice raw with need.
