I took a deep breath. If I’m being honest, it’s probably one of the sexiest things I’ve ever experienced.”

Mitch’s eyes lit up, like he was proud. Fucking adorable.

“You think it’s hot, too?”

I rolled my eyes. “Mitch, I’m more turned on when you kiss me than I’ve been sometimes during actual sex.”

“I know exactly what you mean,” he said. He let out a long sigh of relief, running his fingers through his hair. “Shit, I’ve been wondering if there’s something actually wrong with me, I’ve been getting so damn hard all the time lately. Always because of you, too.”

For God’s sake, my cock was aching hearing Mitch talk like that about me. My head was spinning, but no matter how many emotions were coursing through me, I couldn’t deny that.

My eyes roamed over his body. I had memorized every inch of him long ago, but now it was like coming home and finding so many small things had changed. In high school he’d been hairless but now he had soft chest hair. His jaw was more pronounced. He’d always been beefy, but now his muscles were more hard-cut, somehow, like he was chiseled from marble.

How the hell was I lying in bed with a man like this? It all felt so improbable. In the moment, everything felt natural as hell. It was just Mitch, after all. I’d known him forever. But when I stopped to really think about things, it all felt insane.

“It… doesn’t make you uncomfortable to kiss me?” I whispered. I had started to shake, just a little, from the proximity and how much adrenaline was coursing through me.

“Not at all,” Mitch said. He brought his fingers to my hair, gently stroking them through it over and over. “It’s amazing how not weird it is. I don’t know why more guys don’t kiss their best friends.”

He laughed softly, but my mind was running wild. “I feel like most straight guys would think it’s a step too far,” I said. “I mean, I know they would.”

He shrugged one shoulder. “I… I know I felt that way back in high school. But you know what? I kind of fucking hate that shit, Ev. Just because I don’t usually feel attraction to men doesn’t mean kissing you is bad. It’s so good—”

He leaned in and pressed his lips to mine again, like talking about it had made him crave it. I melted instantly. He let his hands skate down my skin again and I broke out in goosebumps.

With a low groan, he pulled back slightly. “So…”

“So,” I said, breathing rapidly.

“I’m just saying… maybe we can have this,” he said. “Something simple, something that feels good to both of us. With nothing to be scared of.”

He brushed his fingers over my cheek, looking me in the eyes.

And when he looked at me like that, I was done for. These kinds of glances were why I had always felt some part of my heart had belonged to Mitch. Nobody else looked at me the way he did—with pure love and acceptance, and a lifetime of shared history.

“Maybe we could,” I said. Being with him physically was so good that maybe I could ignore the million other pipe dreams that seared through my mind about wanting to live with him and marry him and die happy next to him.

I was never going to have those things. But I could have this. I could have his lips on me.

“You really want it?” he asked, with such an innocent disbelief in his voice. “You would… still want me?”

“Of course I still fucking want you,” I growled. I threw my body against his, letting every inch of that searing skin press against mine. I climbed on top of him, the mattress swaying beneath us. I sank down, letting my very hard cock press against his through only the fabric of our underwear.

He groaned, gripping his hands on my back and pulling me even tighter down onto his body.

“Fuck,” I muttered.

“Sorry, but I had to,” he said.

“Don’t apologize. I was afraid you’d be freaked out.”

“Freaked out by what? Your cock?”

I nodded, biting my bottom lip. I was perched inches above his face, with my palms pressed to the mattress on either side of him.

“Why would that freak me out?” he said, gently running his open palm down my torso until it rested on my bulge.

I pulled in a sharp breath. “I don’t know. Touching my dick is different from touching my lips.”

He smiled. “Evan, I’m pretty sure I would touch you anywhere. If you let me, and if you want it.”

Fucking hell. Mitchell Price really was entering a new phase of his life. I never would have guessed that he would come waltzing back into town, ready and willing to try being physical with another man.

“You okay?” he asked softly.
