Nick glared at him.

“They’re considered unbreakable for a reason.”

“Yet, you don’t seem to mind breaking ‘em.” McCain looked at me thoughtfully. “What exactly have you been doing with your ‘little sister,’ Nick? You been breeding her nice and hard? Maybe knotting her soft pussy and filling her belly with your seed?”

Nick flushed and I saw guilt on his face for a moment.

“I would never do that,” he protested. “Kira and I are blood-sibs and we have the brands to prove it.”

“Because your two daddies banded together to try and stop me taking over the Wolverton back. Well, they failed—and you’re gonna fail too, boy.” McCain made a motion to the shotgun wielding men around us. “Take ‘em and lock ‘em up until tonight. We’ll see what’s what when the full moon comes out.”

“No! Leave me alone!” I gasped as rough hands seized me.

“Don’t you fucking touch her!” Nick looked ready to fight, despite the guns shoved in our faces.

“Now, now—don’t worry,” McCain said soothingly. “Ain’t nobody gonna breed your little sister, Nick. Though she might wish she could get bred in another couple of hours. By the smell of her, she’s deep in the Breeding Fever.” He lifted his head and sniffed the air expressively. “Whoo—that there’s the scent of a bitch ripe for breeding!”

This little performance caused a burst of trollish laughter from Bobby Aiken and the rest. And then rough hands were grabbing both Nick and myself and we couldn’t do anything about it because of all the guns pointed at our heads.

“Lock ‘em up,” McCain ordered again. “And nobody better mess with the girl. I have plans for her.”

And with that ominous pronouncement, they dragged us both away.

TWENTY-SIX

I was pushed into an unmarked, windowless van and transported to a place I didn’t know. It turned out to be another cabin somewhere in the forest—not nearly as nice as the one Nick’s father had left to him. It was more of a dark shack with a single twin bed in one corner that consisted of a bare, stained mattress on sagging box springs.

I was shoved onto the bed and told to stay there “if you know what’s good for you, girly,” and then they locked me in. After trying every door and window and realizing they were all locked and barred—this was obviously some kind of prison shack—there was nothing else to do but sit there and wait.

By evening, I was getting pretty hungry, having not eaten all day. But to be honest, I had more pressing needs on my mind. The Breeding Fever was running through me like a wildfire—making me crave things I had never craved before. My breasts were so full with nectar they ached and my pussy felt hot and swollen and needy.

I understood now, why the girls at the Open Breeding hadn’t run away. They needed to be bred—even if they had to submit to huge, hairy werewolves to get their needs met. I felt much more sympathy for them now—my body was shouting at me that it needed to be filled and fucked and knotted and bred and I had no way to scratch the maddening itch.

About an hour before sunset, the door opened and Sherriff McCain stepped in through the door. He lifted his head and took a deep whiff before giving me the ugly sneer that served him for a grin and showed all his nicotine yellow teeth.

“Well, well, girly—you must be feeling a mite squirrelly by now,” he remarked, coming over to the bed where I was sitting. “Don’t bother denying it—I can smell how bad you need to be bred,” he added.

I jutted my jaw at him.

“I don’t care how badly I need it—I’d rather die than get it from you,” I snapped.

“Oh-ho—little spitfire!” He laughed at me. “Still salty that I killed your daddy?”

“That was a long time ago,” I said evenly. “I’m willing to let bygones be bygones if you’ll just let Nick and me go.”

“Oh, I don’t think so.” He eyed me greedily, like I was a dish of ice cream he wanted to gobble up. “You see, sweet thing, the females of the ruling Alpha become the property of the Alpha who beats him and takes his place. So by Pack Law you’re mine.”

“I don’t give a shit for your misogynistic laws!” I exclaimed. “I don’t belong to you or any other man, so let me out of here!”

McCain threw back his head and laughed—the nasty, wheezing bray of a four-pack a day smoker.

“Now you sound just like your Mamma!” he exclaimed. “Always trying to pretend she wasn’t my property after I killed your daddy.”

A cold chill ran over me.

“What did you say?”

“Oh yeah—didn’t you know?” McCain raised an eyebrow at me. “She refused to be claimed and bred too. I warned her she’d better submit but she was a bull-headed woman—stubborn as a mule, was your mamma!” He shrugged. “So I had to get rid of her.”
