I’m fucking mind-blown by the sex we’ve just had. I doubted her recently. The situation with Antonio left a bitter taste in my mouth. But now, there are no doubts left. She belongs to me, and she’s taken her rightful place on the throne next to mine. Together, we will rule the cartel world. I’m her king, and she will serve by my side as my submissive queen.

There’s no erasing the smile from my face as I pick myself up. Tallulah is still shaking, so I press a tender kiss against her pale skin.

“You did well, angel,” I mutter. “I’m so fucking proud of you.”

“Thank you,” she whispers, shutting her eyes for a moment before pushing her legs to the floor. “That was amazing, Xavier.”

“Take a shower with me?” I suggest, but she shakes her head with a timid smile.

“I want to keep you inside me,” she admits, making my cock throb even though I’ve just emptied myself inside her. I can’t fucking wait to take her. Again and again, until there’s no doubt in anyone’s mind about who she belongs to. “But you can shower. I’ll make us some drinks.”

“Alright, angel.” I groan as I stretch out. I haven’t been this happy in a long time, maybe never. It’s a strange sensation, but certainly not unwelcome. “But no alcohol for you.”

“Of course, Xavier,” she purrs. “Take that shower. I’ll have something ready when you come back.”

I grin at her as she toys with her necklace. Walking to the bathroom, I step under the jets of the walk-in shower. My body is sore in a good way, and the icy water feels like a wake-up call as it trickles down my body.

After a quick shower, I emerge from the bathroom with a towel wrapped around my waist. Tallulah is already waiting for me, wearing a silk nightie and robe I’d laid out for her earlier. With an enchanting smile, she hands me a crystal glass filled with amber liquid.

My fingers touch hers as I take the glass, drinking it in one gulp.

“You’re supposed to take your time with it,” she giggles.

“Why?” I smirk. “I will not take my time with you either, angel. I’ve already made you mine. No more taking it slow.”

Her smile is tense as she sips on her own glass of water. “You should lie down. You must be exhausted.”

Even though I felt energized after my shower, I’m surprised to realize she’s right. I’m tired as fuck.

“Come with me,” I say, and she nods, getting on the bed with me. I hold her close to me, inhaling the sweet peachy scent that surrounds her like an invisible veil. I take her hand in mine and toy with the ring on her finger. Tallulah leans her head against my shoulder, closing her eyes. The silence is comfortable, and my heart is fucking full for the first time in my life.

But there’s something strange happening inside me. At first, I think it’s just the weariness from fucking my ward, tiredness from a long and full day. But then nausea sweeps over me, making me groan and take my hand away to rub my temples. Tallulah sits up on the bed, gently touching my wounded shoulder.

“Does it hurt?” she asks.

“Not really,” I lie. “But I feel a bit...”

“What?” Her innocent eyes meet mine. “Everything okay?”

“I’m not sure.” I try to swallow the worries, but my body feels numb as fuck. “I feel strange.”

Tallulah silently sits next to me, toying with her necklace.

“Maybe you should get one of the guards,” I mutter, the overwhelming feeling of numbness spreading through my tired body. “I don’t feel so well.”

I never ask for help, but this feeling is worrying. I might need help, and I don’t want Tallulah to see me in this position. I’ll talk to one of my men and get some help, so I don’t worry her too much.

“I’m sorry, Xavier,” she whispers, her eyes not meeting mine as she twists and plays with her cross necklace. “I had to do it.”

“What?” I ask, groaning as the pounding headache continues. I try to lift my hand to rub my head, but nothing happens. I can’t move. What the fuck is happening?

Tallulah picks herself up from the bed. I’m not panicking yet, but I am worried, and by now I know I need some help.

“Tallulah,” I say, my voice hoarse. “Get a guard.”

“No,” she shakes her head. “This is all meant to happen. Things are finally going according to plan.”

“What?” I hiss. “I don’t feel well, angel. Please, get some help. I need a doctor.”

“A doctor isn’t going to help,” she whispers. “The poison is already making its way through your bloodstream. No one can help you now.”

“What the hell are you talking about?” I demand. Now the panic is rising, and I never let myself go there, but now there’s no fighting the rising feeling of feeling trapped, sick, and worried. “Tallulah. Get help, fucking now.”
