Blinking back tears of happiness at Jason’s odd rendition of sweetness, but aching for the loneliness he saw beneath it, Abe took a step toward him and smiled. “Well.” He cleared his throat and closed the distance between them, stopping when he stood a couple of inches away. “You’re amazing in bed and you’re loaded.”

It took Jason a second to process that statement, and then he smiled from ear to ear. “Both very true observations.” He opened his arms, and Abe could see hope blossoming in his expression. “So you’ll keep coming around, even when my kids are here?”

“Yes.” Abe stepped into Jason’s embrace. “And I’m really looking forward to meeting your son. I already adore Kris.”

“Well, she takes after her mother. Donny, unfortunately, exhibits more of my characteristics.”

“Then he’ll probably win me over right away, just like his father.”

“I have no idea how I did that,” Jason admitted. He brushed his lips over Abe’s forehead. “Now that I know you, I wonder why you ever agreed to talk to me, let alone take me home with you.”

“I already told you.” Abe nudged Jason’s chin up with his nose and then sucked on his neck. “You’re great in bed and you have lots of money.”

“You said I was amazing in bed, but the most I’ve done for you with my money is bought a few dinners out. If being a kept man is your goal, you’re not getting very far.”

Shrugging, Abe said, “Maybe the sex is just that good.” He gazed at Jason’s rugged, masculine features and traced his strong jawline with the back of his hand. “Or maybe I genuinely like you. Maybe I’m drawn by your intelligence and dedication to your work, your spicy, passionate temper, and your commitment to your family and desire to be a good father.”

“That’s—” Jason cleared his throat. “That’s harder to live up to than making a lot of money and worshiping you in bed.”

“Somehow I don’t think you’ll have trouble with any of those.” Abe combed his fingers through Jason’s hair and gazed into his dark, intelligent eyes. The intensity of the moment ramped up until Abe had trouble filling his lungs. Needing a way to release the desire and emotion that filled him, he said, “But if you’re worried about it, you can give me a demonstration of that worshiping part.”

“Gladly.” Jason slanted his mouth over Abe’s and flicked his tongue across Abe’s lips, waiting for Abe to part them before sliding inside. “Love how you taste.” He wound his arms around Abe’s hips and grabbed his butt, digging his fingers into the muscle. “Hold on, baby,” Jason said as he lifted Abe. He set him on the counter, wedged himself between his spread knees, and cupped both sides of his face. “You’re so beautiful.” He slid his palms across Abe’s temples to his nape while he lowered his open mouth to Abe’s and kissed him again.

With a whimper, Abe wrapped his legs around Jason’s waist and clutched his shirt. They slid their tongues together, tasting and connecting, as they tenderly touched each other.

“Mmm,” Jason moaned. He dragged his open lips over Abe’s, scraping with his tongue and teeth until Abe felt like he was being eaten, consumed. “We won’t be able to do this when my kids are here,” Jason whispered. He kissed Abe and bit his lower lip.

“Not in the kitchen, but your bedroom is on a different floor and this place is really well insulated,” Abe pointed out. He dragged his hand down Jason’s flank and shivered at the heat generated from that big body. “We’ll be fine.”

Jason rested his forehead against Abe’s and exhaled. “You know what you said about me being a good father isn’t true. I always wanted a family, but I haven’t been there for them.”

“Hopefully you’re being too hard on yourself, but even if you’re right, it’s not too late.” Abe circled his finger over Jason’s nipple through his shirt. “Like you said, they need you. You can be there for them now.”

Nodding, Jason ran his thumb over Abe’s lower lip and gazed into his eyes. “I hope so. I want to be.” He leaned forward and brushed his lips over Abe’s. “When do you want to meet them?”

They were both fully dressed. Abe was sitting on the kitchen counter. Jason was standing in front of him. They were quietly talking. And yet it was one of the most profoundly loving moments of Abe’s life. He was being included, not only in Jason’s bed or his home, but in his family, his life.

“Do they know you’ve been seeing someone?”

“Angela does, but not the kids.” Jason shook his head. “No.”

Pinching Jason’s nipple, Abe said, “But they know that one day, when you find someone, it’ll be a man?” He ran his thumb over the swollen bud soothingly.
