“Perfectly okay and highly recommended.”

“Thank God.” He continued to move his hand until Caroline had other ideas. She climbed on top of him and took his cock deep inside of her, letting out a long sigh when he filled her to the hilt. He loved when she took control, but there were times like now when she surprised him with her forcefulness.

After they had both come, Dune carried her up to the loft and laid her on his bed, where he made love to her again. Someday, she would be his wife and he’d come home to her every night and wake up to her every day. He didn’t care that they’d have a baby so soon into their relationship. He was right where he wanted to be and, as far as he was concerned, their child would come at the perfect time.

Sometime, in the middle of the night, they lost power. Dune slipped out from underneath Caroline and went down the flight of stairs to find candles and a flashlight. He’d wait an hour or so to see if his dad woke before heading out into the storm to start the generator. When he came back upstairs to get into bed, Caroline was sitting up and holding a box. He knew what the box was right away. It had been on his bedside table, where he kept it, and he had looked at each night since he took possession of it.

Dune placed a candle on the table and crawled into bed next to her. He took the box that held his grandmother’s ring from her. Removing the ring from the velvet cushion, and placed it on her finger. “Long before you showed up today, to tell me we’re going to have a baby, I went to my dad and asked for this ring. It was my grandma’s, and she left it to my dad to give to whichever son would need it first.

“I love you, Caroline. I know our path right now isn’t conventional, but it’s our path to forge. Caroline Taylor, will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?”

The small candle on his bedside table lit her face enough for him to know she was crying. She cupped his face and kissed him.

“Yes!”
