“We’re all here, what gives?” Logan asked as he sat down. Jason looked at Thorpe, who nodded his head as if to give him the go ahead.

“That Samuels guy, the one that came with the senator…Roxy recognized him.” The room was deathly silent as all eyes focused on him.

“Recognized him as in…” Zak sat forward and clasped his hands between his spread thighs.

“Yup, he was one of her abusers when she was younger.” There were a lot of murmurs then before the room went quiet again.

“She was freaking out when she saw him; I had to get her out of the room. Once we were downstairs, she lost her shit; she wanted to go after him like she did the others. I can’t… She can work with Track and I on the other thing, but I can’t let her get any more blood on her hands. She doesn’t realize it now, but someday that shit’s going to come back to haunt her. I’ll protect her as best I can from having to deal with any more of this shit.”

“What did you do with him?” Cord asked, which pretty much showed his mindset.

“I had to get to him before she did, and she wasn’t going to stop.”

“What did you do, little brother? Just spit it out.” Creed coached him along. I pretty much knew what he’d done by this point and understood his hesitance. We were all pretty much strangers to him, after all.

“I threw his ass off the cliff; that’s what I did.”

“Did you ask him anything?”

“No, I believe her.”

“Did you at least tell him why he was dying?”

“Yes, that fuck smirked at me when I asked him about his past deeds. Said he couldn’t be touched, called me a kid. I’m sorry I did this here brought this to your door. But if I didn’t, she would’ve, and I can’t let that happen again.”

“And where is she?” Quinn asked the question I think we were all dying to ask.

“I put her to sleep.” He motioned the crooked elbow around the throat to show us how he did it.

“She’s going to kill your ass when she wakes up.” Devon grinned when he said it to ease the blow, but the kid still looked like he was fucked.

The others were reassuring him that he did the right thing, and I was wondering what the hell I got myself into. Then Mancini spoke, and they went to silent mode again. “You didn’t kill him.”

“Come again! I’m pretty sure he didn’t make it back, and he hit a few outcroppings on the way down.” Mancini looked at me, and I shrugged. “They’ll find out sooner or later.”

He went back to the surveillance he’d shown me earlier, giving them a blow by blow as they watched.

“Did she know? Of course, she did, stupid question. She wouldn’t have done it otherwise. So what are we going to do about this?” Logan was staring at the screen in disbelief then they all turned to look at me.

“Don’t look at me. I told this fuck about her, and what did he do? He gave her a whole fucking lab to play with. You’ll spend those trillions that accumulated over centuries bailing her ass out of jail time, and again, I’m out. I have nine fucking kids to take care of, and Kat might be cooking another one as we speak. You fucks are on your own with this shit.”

“So she heard us arguing, heard Roxy planning to off this guy, and decided to do it herself? How old is she?”

“Forget that, can she teach baby Zak how to be like that? My little Amalie is too young yet, but fuck yes.”

“Tyler, you of all people I would expect better from.”

“Sorry, Colt, but that’s my kinda shit right there. She’s smooth as fuck with it too.”

“Do you think she understands, though Mancini?”

“Well, let me ask you something Flanagan, why do you think your daughter has been teaching her how to use the crossbow? By the way, have you seen them practicing?”

“What’re you saying?” Mancini that fuck just smirked and turned back to the keyboard. “I’ll show you.”

Jason

I headed back downstairs to the room where Roxana was still out, still not quite believing what I’d seen. It doesn’t seem possible that an eight-year-old kid could carry out a hit so effortlessly, with no one being the wiser. Now my mind is off on a tangent, wondering just what the hell this Mancini guy is up to.

I wouldn’t have felt any guilt over throwing that hump off the cliff, but I must admit that it’s a bit freaky knowing that he was already a dead man walking. He would’ve been gone in a few months anyway after the kid dosed him. Now I’m wondering if it wouldn’t be better to let her know instead of having her carry that burden for the rest of her life.
