Declan might be an ass kisser, but he’s not ugly. He’s a demigod, like me, but he’s got that whole good-guy look to him. And while I might not know much about Star, I do know this—she would pick me over him every fucking day of the week. Let’s just say that I am… her type.

She likes bad boys. At least, she does right now.

I nearly snicker as I remember using my power on her last night. There wasn’t time to properly manipulate her—not with Declan and Mr. Nobody trying their best to interfere. But clearly my efforts were good enough to still be working this morning, because Star leans into the bars of her cell, trying her best to leer at me. And the moment she looks upon my demi-godly presence, her whole face goes kinda dreamy and sweet. She lets out a sigh, puckers her lips, and makes kissy noises at me.

Declan might be the son of Hermes, but his powers of persuasion won’t break him out of that cell, now will it?

And as for Quaid, he’s a worthless mortal. The only reason he was even in that bar last night was luck.

Luck and smooth-talking against me, son of Ares?

Come on.

The power I wield is almost unfair compared to those two losers. Magical artifact on my person aside, one inhale of my warrior scent was enough to turn her into a little slut. Seconds later, she was all over me. Clawing at my shirt, fingers fumbling with my belt, hand gripping my cock through my jeans. I was about to throw her down on the table and have my way with her when Mr. Nobody smashed a bottle over my head and broke the moment.

Then Declan was there, throwing punches.

The rest is, as they say, history.

Barroom brawl. My father would be proud.

But here in the mortal realm, I can’t use my warrior blessings like I would in Olympus. And while I am a very strong warrior, it turns out that the bar was the off-duty hangout for every cop on the east side of Skyline City.

They descended on us like a swarm. I don’t think they would’ve arrested Star if she hadn’t been humping my leg while they were cuffing me, but I’m glad they did. At least I know where she is.

“Hey,” I say, panning my arms wide. “What can I say? Getting people locked up is a talent of mine.” This all comes out with a laugh.

Declan growls back at me. “Yeah, we know.” Then rolls his eyes.

“Listen,” I say, looking straight at Declan since those dark glasses of Quaid’s always creep me out. “You know why I’m here. You both know why I’m here. I’ve got the claim of Ares and that trumps Hermes any day.” I reluctantly shift my gaze to Quaid. “And don’t even test me, mortal. You have no claim at all.”

“You’re wrong,” Quaid says, sneering at me. “I’ve got the claim of Apollo.”

“You can’t claim anything for Apollo. You’re a nobody.” Now I look at Declan. “The quicker we come to some kind of agreement here, the better.”

Declan puts on his best charming smile. “You’re high. I’m not here to negotiate. I told you that last night.”

“What you’re doing is none of my business, Declan. I’m here for her and, as you can see, she’s not gonna put up a fight.”

I lift up my hand and wave my fingers at Star, who is practically salivating over me now. “Hey there, darlin’. How ya feelin’ this morning? Ready to rise and shine? Because I’m looking to get the fuck out of here pronto, and you’re coming with me, right?”

She nods, still lost in her erotic dreams of my big dick. Which isn’t a dream because she grabbed it last night. I bet she’s thinking about that right now. How thick and hard it was. “I’m coming,” she says, her voice nothing more than a soft whisper.

And my god, I’m nearly as turned on as she is. Before I hand her over to Ares, I’m gonna let her have her way with me. I won’t even touch her. I’ll make a vid, too. Just so I have proof that it was all her idea if Ares ever finds out.

“Star,” Mr. Nobody says. “Look at me, babe. Look at me! Aric’s done something to you. He’s used some kind of curse on you and I need you to look at me so—”

“So you can what?” I interrupt. “You think you can break my curse? Or do you think she’ll be more attracted to you than she is to me?”

“Star!” he says again. “Look at me!” And this time, his voice does something weird. It gets all deep and growly, echoing off the walls and shit. And while that’s happening, those stupid sunglasses of his kinda flash or something.
