Maybe. Maybe he was right. They’d already made me feel better about myself.

For the next couple hours, more people arrived for the event tonight. Lucas knew many, many of the kinksters, and several came over to chat and to ask if it was true, if he and Colt had claimed me as their boy. And each time, Lucas held me close to him on the little couch and confirmed that we were together.

Ivy had been right. Some of the guys had eyed me and offered hollow smiles and felicitations.

It awoke a new restlessness in me, and it made me itch in a way I’d never encountered before. As if an urge were trying to claw itself out of my body.

At some point, Madigan guided a sobbing Abel up the hill toward the house, and Lucas jogged over to them. He gave Madigan what appeared to be a set of keys, and Madigan nodded in thanks.

When Lucas returned, he explained he’d given them access to a private playroom.

My heart ached uncomfortably, and I hoped Abel would be happy soon. The punishment had to be over.

“Remember this is for Abel’s best, dear.” Lucas kissed my temple and stopped my fidgeting with a hand over mine. “You know how you feel after we’ve punished you, don’t you? When all is forgiven?”

I nodded hesitantly. It was true. My mind was at peace after a lashing. More than that, I felt littler and younger and more willing to hand over my free will to my Daddies. It was strange, really, but I never trusted them more than when they stood their ground and disciplined me.

“Can I go see him later?” I asked. “I want to make sure he’s okay.”

Daddy gave me a patient look. “Firstly, they’ll probably be locked away most of the day. Secondly…” He paused and kissed the tops of my hands. “Trust Abel’s Daddy, Kit. Abel trusts him with his life. Madigan will make sure he’s okay.”

Crap. He was right again. Fucking hell, I really did need to let go of certain things.

“Okay,” I whispered. “You’re right, Sir.”

A round of laughter rang out from the pool area, and we turned that way and saw Ivy in Colt’s arms. He was one of those laughing, the sound warm and infectious. It was impossible not to melt a little. Ivy had probably just shown her excitement at our relationship.

Reese and someone Lucas had pointed out earlier as another founder were there too. Perhaps it meant they were done preparing for tonight? There’d been constant running back and forth, though Colt and Reese had been indoors most of the day. A handful of others, I had no idea who they were, had disappeared into the forest every now and then.

“Ah, good, he has the paperwork,” Lucas murmured. “It’s going to be impossible to keep the nerves at bay now.”

“What do you mean?” I asked curiously.

Lucas was already visibly uncomfortable. “Given the nature of tonight’s game, we have every participant sign releases. It’s one of the reasons I’m not exactly thrilled about you joining. I’m worried it’s going to be too much for your first event.”

I understood. I was worried too. But mostly about the fact that I would suck.

Lucas seemed more concerned than I was, though, and I suspected it was because I had no idea what to expect.

Eighteen

If someone had told me six months ago that I’d sign a waiver and a contract to participate in a primal takedown in the middle of nowhere with one of my two Daddy Doms today…

I wouldn’t even know how I’d react, to be honest. It was that bizarre.

With Colt standing behind me, he couldn’t see how nervous I was.

The place was packed. The entire community was here, it felt like, and everyone was excited for The Games to begin. They sat or stood in groups on or near the deck. A dozen or so were listening from the pool.

Nine Tops had signed up to partake with their bottoms, and we were lined up on the lawn below the pool area.

River and Reese stood out on the lawn, silent, waiting. Well-worn jeans, black tees, and calculating gazes that missed nothing.

The forest loomed ominously down the hill, with lit torches leading the way on both sides.

I caught movement in the corner of my eye and spotted Lucas stepping out of our cabin. Dressed in black dress pants and a matching shirt, along with a severe expression, he came across as strict, if not freaking lethal. He joined Reese and River, as did two others, two women in leather corsets and skintight pants. One of them, a woman with long red hair, had been very nice to me at a munch once, but right now, she looked scary. Just like the others.

Reese paced along his line of friends as he spoke, his voice commanding and rich. He didn’t need to raise his voice in order for people to listen to him.
