“I could arrest you.” I tilt my chin up.

“And I’d let you.”

“I should leave,” I mumble to myself, knowing I’m not going anywhere.

I’m supposed to be mad here and really upset. The reality is that’s not what I’m feeling right now and I’m not sure how to wrap my head around that. The truth is after last night, I’m not actually shocked by any of this.

“That I won’t let you do.”

“Saint.” I put my hands on my hips, trying to hold strong.

“Stopped you the last time you tried.” He gives me one of those shrugs of his. It takes me a second to realize what he means. My mouth falls open when I do.

“You did that to my tires!? That’s state property you vandalized.”

“They can take what I owe them off my last job.”

“Anything else I should know?” I raise a questioning eyebrow at him.

“It’s possible that Bear was never lost and was an accomplice to this whole plan.” He smirks. My mouth drops open in surprise for the second time within minutes. It’s followed by a bark of laughter.

I throw my hand over my mouth. He clears the space between us. I try to back up but run into his desk. He grips my hips, lifting me off my feet and sits me down on his desk. “I’m not good with people. Digging into your life is the only way I knew to get close to you, and fuck I want to be as close to you as I can get, Marley.”

“You could have asked me over for dinner.”

“Maybe. I guess I was scared you would say no.”

“Saint.” I rest my hand on his chest. He really must keep himself locked away. The man is rich, smart, and handsome as hell.

“You can’t leave me, Marley. You gave me a taste of something I know I can’t live without. I had no fucking clue what love was before you. Then there you were with all your smiles and sweetness. I’d bark, and all you’d do is keep on smiling at me.”

Damn, I have a strong feeling I’m the first person to ever tell Saint that I love him. “I’ve got a secret too.” Saint’s brows pull together. That grumpy look he usually gives everyone else but me forms on his face. “Hey, you don’t give me that look. That’s for everyone else. Especially pretty girls. You keep all those grumpy looks for them.”

“Only know one pretty girl.”

“Right answer.”

“Tell me. What secret do you have for me?”

I wiggle my finger to draw him in closer so I can whisper in his ear. “It turns me on that you’re a bit obsessed with me.” His hands on my hips tighten.

“A bit? You clearly didn’t make it through the rest of the folder.”

A giggle pops from me. “I might come from a big family, but I often feel I get lost in the shuffle. You make me feel like I’m special and different.”

“You are.” He leans over, opening one of the side drawers in his desk. He pulls out a small box.

“Saint!” I gasp when he opens it. Inside sits a beautiful and very familiar ring. The giant marquise cut diamond is surrounded by a halo of smaller diamonds. Even the band is a ring of diamonds all connected together. “This is why I’ve been flooded with ring ads on my phone, isn’t it?”

“Maybe.” He gives me one of his classic shrugs. “You favored this one.” Tears leak down my cheeks. I hold my hand out.

“Put it on me.” A smile pulls at his lips as he slips it on my finger.

“I want to get married soon. No long engagement.”

“Why the rush? Not like you’re going to let me get away.” I lift my hand to show it to him. It fits perfectly. I’m only giving him a hard time. I’ve always wanted a winter wedding.

“Why not the rush?” He huffs. I almost think it counts as a pout. “You could be pregnant.” I roll my eyes.

“How do you know I’m not on birth control?”

“You’re not.”

“You don’t know everything.” He stares down at me. “Oh my God! That’s illegal too.”

“When it comes to you, gorgeous, I’ll break every damn law to make you mine and keep you at my side.”

“Hold that thought.” I reach over and grab a pen before I fold one of the blank pieces of paper I have. I scribble across it. “I got you this for Christmas.”

“All I need is you.”

“You’re going to need this.” I hold it out for him.

“A coupon?” He asks as he turns it over. “One get out of jail free card.”

“Merry Christmas.” I grab the front of his shirt, pulling him down to kiss me.

Saint may not have gone about this whole thing the traditional way, but I wouldn’t change anything. Getting snowed in with him is the best thing that ever happened to me.
