Two people I’d never met before were standing in our RV.

A man and a woman.

The man looked vaguely familiar.

The woman had her arms outstretched as if she was ready to take Cutter’s daughter, and I pulled a gun off the bed behind me. “Get out. Right now.”

They moved as one, backing up toward the door.

They went backward down the steps of the RV and kept their hands up as they moved toward the campfire that was still burning low with bright red embers.

They came to a stop just before they would’ve backed right into it and said, “We didn’t mean…”

I shook my head. “Don’t move.”

They didn’t.

A light switched on behind me, and then I heard Sutton say, “Jackson? What are you doing here?”

It all started to make sense.

“He was trying to take Cutter’s little girl.”

“Who’s Cutter?” the woman with Jackson whispered.

“Cutter is my club brother. And that little girl you were about to pick up is his,” I snapped. “What are you doing here?”

Jackson and the woman stayed silent.

“Sutton, go knock on the RV behind you. Wake Webber up.”

Two minutes later, every man in the campsite was up, including The Uncertain Saints that were two campsites over from us.

All of us encircled them as we waited to hear what they had to say for themselves.

“We wouldn’t have hurt her.” He looked cautiously at Cutter who looked about ready to fucking lose it.

The door closed quietly behind us and Milena came to stand next to me. “What were you doing here?”

The calm way she asked it had the woman shifting nervously.

“We knew that she watched a kid for him,” Jackson’s fiancée, who Jackson called Lara, whispered. “We were just trying to get her to give us the embryos!”

Sutton sucked in a sharp breath. “I know that your lawyer told you that I’d had them destroyed. Why would you think I’d lie about that?”

Jackson bared his teeth. “I was hoping that you’d lied.”

“I didn’t.” Sutton crossed her arms over her chest. “Are you both utterly stupid?”

Milena lost what little restraint she had and walked up to the woman and punched her straight in the face.

Lara lost her footing, and her backside landed in the glowing embers behind her.

She screeched, and Jackson swung around, his fist aimed at Milena’s head.

I was there first, stopping him before he could connect with Milena’s face.

Lara rolled over so that she was no longer in the fire, and no one went to help her.

“I’m on fire!”

Thank God we were in a secluded campground for this.

No way would all their carrying on not have woken up my entire neighborhood.

“This is preposterous!” Jackson cried.

“No,” Sutton disagreed. “What’s preposterous is the fact that you thought you could come here, take a child, and blackmail us into giving you these embryos. Embryos that I don’t fucking have anymore. That’s what’s preposterous.” She gave me a quelling look. “I’m going back inside. As far as I’m concerned, I’ve been asleep with you the whole night.”

The women that’d come outside agreed, and they all went back to their RVs and tents.

The only ones left now were the men, Jackson and Lara.

“Now, what shall we do?”

Those chilling words came from my mouth, and they set Jackson to panicking.

“We can pay!”

“Oh, you’ll pay all right,” Cutter replied calmly. “Only it will be the Truth Teller way.”

Hours later, as I crawled back into bed with Sutton after putting Lottie back in her own bed, I was still just as angry as when I left.

Sutton opened her arms for me, and I crawled between her legs, pulling her body against mine as I said, “We didn’t kill them, but I wanted to.”

“What’d you do with them?”

“Called the cops,” he grumbled. “Attempted kidnapping. Too many witnesses. No offense to The Uncertain Saints, but we don’t know them at all. Few of them were cops. Couldn’t very well put them in concrete shoes and drop them off at the bottom of the lake. But we will take care of them once they’re in prison.”

“Good.” She widened her legs, and I took that as my invitation to slowly slide inside of her. “I hope they suffer.”

“Oh,” I growled as I fucked her deep. “They will.”

Her hands came to my face, and she forced me to come closer as she said, “I love you, Gunner.”

I bent down and caught her bottom lip with my teeth. “Good. Because I love you, too. But you already knew that, didn’t you?”

She breathed out a shaky breath. “I think I’ve known it since high school. But I wasn’t willing to admit it to myself until lately.”

I smoothed back some hair from her face before saying, “I’ll spend the rest of my life making sure you know exactly how I feel about you.”
