“I have to work later. Sunday’s one of my regular show days.” Fuck it if it made Shawn uncomfortable. He knew what Jude did for cash, and Jude wasn’t going to avoid mentioning his job now it was out in the open between them.

Shawn snorted. “Jerking off isn’t exactly running a marathon. I’m sure you’ll cope.”

“You’d be surprised. A five-minute fap, yeah, that doesn’t take much effort. But my shows sometimes last an hour and a half or even more. That can be tiring, depending on what I do for the camera. I have to work hard to earn those extra tips.”

“I don’t want to know,” Shawn said gruffly.

They’d reached the house now. Jude stretched out his quads while Shawn got out his door keys.

Jude took pity on him and changed the subject. “So, do you reckon you’ll join the gym again? It seemed like it was your spiritual home, so you must miss it.” He followed him down the hallway to the kitchen.

Shawn went straight for the fridge and started drinking milk out of the carton. His throat bobbed enticingly, and when he was done, there was a distracting drop of milk at the corner of his mouth. He wiped it away with the back of his hand. “Yeah, maybe? I’m not sure. I don’t earn much, and I’m still paying off an overdraft.”

“That sucks.” Jude remembered how tight money had been in his first year before he’d started his cam work.

“I might be able to afford it after Christmas, especially if I can do some overtime.” Shawn put the carton back in the fridge. “Right, I’m going to have a shower—as long as one of the bathrooms is free.”

“Same. But I’ll go after you if the other one’s occupied.” There were two bathrooms, one on each of the floors that had bedrooms.

Shawn went upstairs first, and Jude followed. It was impossible not to admire Shawn’s arse from this angle. Muscular and strong, he had a perfect bubble butt. Jude bet it would look fucking amazing without clothes covering it. He tilted his head and sighed appreciatively. Shame he’d never get a chance to bite it.

That evening, Jude came down to find Shawn and Ben in the kitchen. Shawn stood at the hob, and Ben was dishing up a plate of chips, spaghetti hoops, and what looked like veggie sausages.

Jude wrinkled his nose. Veggie sausages were just wrong. He turned to the fridge and opened it to see what he had that looked edible.

“Fuck. I really should have gone shopping today,” he muttered.

There was a lump of cheese and some milk and margarine that belonged to him, but not much else.

Jude’s cupboard was pretty bare too. Rice, pasta, a couple of potatoes that were starting to sprout, and a can of baked beans. “Jacket potato, beans and cheese it is, then. Again.” He’d had the same thing yesterday. He really needed to buy some vegetables.

“You can have some of this if you want,” Shawn said without turning. He was busy stirring some delicious-smelling thing. “You’re not veggie, are you?”

“God no. I love meat.”

Shawn chuckled. “You just can’t help yourself, can you?”

“Fuck.” A flush heated Jude’s cheeks as he realised what he’d just said, but he laughed too. “I wasn’t even trying, honestly. I just open my mouth and things happen. It’s a special skill.”

Shawn glanced sidelong at him, eyebrows raised and lips twisted in a smirk.

“Okay, that one was deliberate.” Jude grinned, unapologetic.

“Do you want some of this or not? It’s beef mince and onions. I’m having it with mash, peas, and carrots.”

“If you’re sure. Have you got enough?”

“Yeah, I always cook extra and freeze some for the nights I work late. But you can have it. You need to keep your strength up—after killing it at the gym this morning.”

Shawn had hastily added the last part, and Jude guessed where his mind had gone. “Cheers, mate. I’ll return the favour soon, once I’ve been shopping.”

“Okay, cool.”

“Need any help?”

“Nah, it’s nearly done. But you could get some plates and cutlery ready.”

They ate in the living room at the large table by the window. Ben was there too with his food. Jez and Mac were lounging on the sofa with an open takeaway pizza box on the table in front of them, slices of pizza in their hands. Normally Jude would have looked at it enviously, but with the meal Shawn had made in front of him, he was impervious to the lure of pizza.

“This is great, thank you,” he said after his first mouthful. It really was; he wasn’t just being polite. “I didn’t know you could cook.”

“I have hidden depths.” Shawn gave a smug smile.

After they’d eaten, Jude and Shawn hung around in the living room for a while. Ben had gone back to his room, and Jez talked the rest into a game of Mario Kart.
