Best thing I ever did.

With one of my T-shirts in hand, I stride out of the closet and find them in the bedroom, already stripping the bed for clean sheets.

“We made a mess,” Alex says with a little laugh. “Totally worth it, though. Is that for me?”

“This is for you,” I confirm and slip the shirt over her head. It dwarfs her, hitting her at almost her knees, and she sashays side to side.

“Very fashion forward,” she says with a smirk. “Thanks. Where do you want me to sl—whoa!”

Gabe lifts her and deposits her in the middle of the freshly made bed, and I join them. Gabe’s on his back, Alex scooped up against his side with her head on his chest, and I spoon up behind her and wrap an arm around them both.

“Oh, this is nice,” she says with a deep sigh. “I am so tired.”

“You should be,” I say as I kiss her shoulder, my eyes on my man. “Go to sleep, sweet girl.”

Gabe kisses her forehead, and she sighs again, her body loosening as she gives in to sleep. We’re quiet for a few minutes, listening to Alex breathe peacefully between us. I run my fingers through her soft-as-fuck hair. I can’t get enough of it.

“You feel it, right?” Gabe whispers. “I’m not crazy.”

“You’re not crazy.” I reach over to graze my fingers down his rough cheek. “Let’s see what tomorrow brings. Day by day right now, you know?”

He captures my wrist and kisses my palm, then links his fingers to mine.

“Do you know her family well?” I ask him.

“Not really. She had a rough childhood, but that’s really all I know. Good family, though. Her oldest brother is Holden Lexington, a good friend of Brooks’s. I’ve hung out with him a few times, but not in a few years. I’ve never heard anything bad about any of the siblings. Just a really shitty dad.”

I nod slowly, brushing my lips over her skin. I know all about having shitty parents. “One night of sex doesn’t make a relationship.”

“But it can start one,” he says, and I don’t disagree.

After another quiet moment, he continues talking.

“It’s not about me not being completely fulfilled in what we have, A.” I have to strain to hear his murmur. “I love you, and nothing will ever change that. I’m making that clear right now.”

“Same goes, baby.”

He nods and looks back down at the woman on his chest. Her breathing is deep and even. We wore the poor woman out, and I can’t wait to do it again.

“We should all get some sleep and see what happens tomorrow. Let’s take her out on the boat, get some sun, play, and see how we get along out of bed.”

“You’ve been wanting to fuck me on the boat since you bought it.” He gives me a knowing smile.

“Two birds, one stone.” I smirk and drag my hand down his side to his ass. “Go to sleep, love.”

Chapter Five

GABE

“This is me,” Alex says, pointing at the blue house on the left. “You can just pull into the driveway, and I’ll be right back. What do I need besides a swimsuit?”

“Just pack a bag for a few days,” Adam says, but Alex shakes her head, a stubborn expression crossing her sweet face.

“I’ll just need stuff for today,” she insists, and I see Adam’s jaw firm, but he doesn’t argue.

“Just bring whatever you’re comfortable with, Shorty,” I tell her as I climb out of the back of Adam’s SUV so I can open her door. Reaching for her hand, I help her out of the car. “Bring a swimsuit and a change of clothes. We have towels and everything else you’ll need on the boat.”

“Okay.” She grins and gives my hand a squeeze before she turns to head inside, and I sit in her seat, next to Adam, while we wait for her.

“She’s not going in the house,” he says with a frown, and we watch as she climbs the steps next to the garage.

“There must be an apartment up there,” I reply.

It’s been a fun twelve-ish hours with that gorgeous woman. The sex was off the charts, but add in a little breakfast this morning, all three of us cooking together in our big-ass kitchen, and it was almost like the three of us have been together for years and not mere hours.

“I don’t like it,” Adam grumbles next to me. He’s gone into grumpy mode, which is how he gets when something new, something that’s good, comes along and he’s having a hard time trusting it. It’s exactly how he was at the beginning of our relationship. I know it stems from a fucked-up childhood and being disappointed over and over again. He can’t help it.

I reach over for his hand and lace our fingers, giving it a squeeze.
