He glances back at me with hungry eyes. I hold my hand out for him to take and drag him upstairs. Opening the door, I flip the light on, revealing my mess of a studio. I still have so much to do in here. He walks past me, glancing around the room. He peeks under cabinets and looks at the pottery wheel in the corner.

“That’s where I make everything,” I tell him, unsure if he knows what it is.

He looks at it for a second before his cobalt eyes are back on me, a wolfish smirk on his face. “Wanna try that scene from Ghost?”

My mouth drops before I can stop it. My body pulses with need.

“And here I thought you only watched horror movies,” I tease. Taking a step closer, he tilts his head to the side, the tip of his tongue licking his bottom lip. “It has ghosts in it.”

He places a hand on the doorframe behind me and leans in, an edge of darkness slipping over him from the shadows of night filling the hallways. Using his free hand, he tucks a finger under my chin, forcing me look up.

“I’d watch anything for you, Rain,” he whispers, then presses his lips to mine. I close my eyes, relishing the moment, the feel of this man against me. I never would have thought this feeling of butterflies and constant smiles would happen again. His lips are so soft and needy, the perfect combination. Inhaling through my nose, I wrap my hands around his neck and pull him closer, sucking his bottom lip between my teeth.

He deepens the kiss, his mouth working against mine, and runs a greedy hand over my hip and down my ass before giving it a squeeze. Damn, that feels so good. Time becomes timeless. This moment is all that exists. The little bit of scruff around his mouth brushes against my face. I grab the sides of his cheeks, feeling the bristles on my palms. My head lolls back, exposing my neck and collarbone. He sweeps in, leaving hungry kisses across my throat. We stumble farther into the pottery room. Slipping my hands up his shirt, I run my fingers over his chest, scratching lightly, and he groans. His hands all over me is too much. Bursts of heat spark over my skin. My core throbs, begging me to take him right here in this room. Sure, we’ve only known each other for a little bit, but it’s a second date—not including the hospital. He makes me feel wanted, needed, and it’s undoing every promise I made after Cam.

I swore no more men.

Fuck relationships.

Love doesn’t exist.

“Damn, Rain, I haven’t wanted a woman this bad in a very long time,” he confesses, desire hanging in his every word, snapping the last of my restraint.

“Yes. Yes,” I mutter, nearly tearing his shirt off. I jerk it up, wanting his skin against mine. My hands tangle in the material. It manages to get stuck on his shoulders, and we fall into the cabinet holding my tools, some falling to the floor.

Laughing at how sloppy we are, he slaps a hand over my mouth, and I still, waiting for what he wants me to do next as I fall into those blue eyes, cold as ice and serious.

Heavy footsteps on the stairs make me hold my breath.

“Shit!” I whisper-shout, pulling his shirt back down. I brush the hair from my face, then push him away and turn my back, picking up the tools.

“So, yeah, this is where the magic happens—once I actually get this place together—”

“Mom, I’m going to bed,” Paige says, her voice sleepy.

I glance over my shoulder and smile. “Okay, hon.”

“See ya later, Paige.” Heston juts his chin toward her, and she waves before walking to her room and shutting the door behind her. She didn’t even look at us.

Thank God.

I fall to the floor, dropping the tools from my hands, and Heston laughs under his breath.

“I’m sorry. We have had so much going on right now and I don’t know where she is emotionally and I don’t want to present this in the wrong way, yeah know?” I gesture between us.

He takes my face in his hands, his fingers trailing to my jawline. “I get it. I adore Paige. I don’t want her disliking me because she thinks I’m trying to replace her dad or something. However, I can only take so much of this.” He slaps my ass followed by a firm grip on my right cheek, bringing my body flush with his. A hard bulge in his pants presses against me. My breath hitches in my throat, and I nod. I don’t think I could keep doing this either. The constant tease and want will eventually have me throwing caution to the wind and tearing that motherfucker apart.
