And we’d both believe it if he said it enough.
Chapter 21
Levi
“No, the size of his member or his aura was not the reason he’s called Alexander the Great.” That was ridiculous and so was the way she’d made me figure out so many polite ways to say penis.
“But I read—”
“Dear?” Teddy’s dad seemed to have had enough of the dick talk too because he finally interrupted her before she could tell us about something else she’d read.
Something else wrong she’d read.
How were there so many weird and inappropriate books and documentaries on historical figures?
We had better things to do as a society than wonder about everybody’s kinks and sexuality.
“Did you ever return those emails you said had to be done by tonight?” Teddy’s parents both looked like Christmas hippies, but James looked slightly more normal in just a brightly colored sweater. He also seemed more normal because he was really good at managing his wife. “Didn’t you say your accountant was having a cow about something?”
Amazing.
She blinked and all of a sudden she was in a different mode altogether. It was kind of like watching Teddy switch between grown-up and little, but this was about being a pain in the butt and being a business woman. “Yes, she’s very easily worked up, though. I’m thinking about changing her gift and sending her to the next wellness retreat instead.”
She was going to give her accountant a trip to what seemed to be a thousand-dollar-a-night wellness retreat because she was stressed?
“She’s always jumping around and her emails are getting erratic.” Shaking her head, Melody stood and wandered off toward what I assumed was her office, Christmas skirt swaying and bare feet sticking out the bottom. “Thank you for reminding me about that, sweetheart.”
Teddy and his dad both deflated back into their seats when she went down a long haul and we finally heard a door shut. Teddy looked exhausted and ready to sink into being little, but we’d been going since we got there, so I didn’t blame him.
Just the half-finished tour and forced march around the property had me ready for a break, but then we’d gone straight into dinner and talks about everything from their retreat to their relief that I’d finally gotten my head out of my ass.
James had done his best to try to get Melody to say it more politely but even a reminder about her aura hadn’t gotten her to be more careful about the way she’d said it. Teddy had just been alternating between trying not to laugh and wanting to hide under the table, but I’d just done my best to pretend it was all perfectly normal.
I’d done a pretty good job but I was ready for the day to be done.
Thankfully, James seemed to be on that side as well. “Well, at least it wasn’t about your lack of a sex life?”
They were so weird.
Teddy finally gave up and sank lower in the chair as he covered his face with his hands. “Please. Don’t help.”
His dad flashed a grin that said he was enjoying the chaos but it was gone before Teddy could see.
I was going to like him better than I’d expected, but for the time being it was time to save my boy. “Being careful of his energy and keeping his aura bright are more important.”
As his dad nearly laughed, I stood up and went over to save Teddy. “Come on. Let’s go.”
I smiled at James and gave him a nod. “It was wonderful to meet you but we’re going to turn in for the night.”
There were only so many history documentaries that even I could watch, but I appreciated them trying to find something we’d all enjoy. I just wished it hadn’t come with a side of dirty romance and penis discussions.
“We’re glad you came for Christmas even if we show it in odd ways, and we’re glad you two are…figuring out how your relationship is going to work.” James’ careful wording had Teddy groaning again and crashing into me as he rose.
James had a wicked way of entertaining himself, but he was all smiles as he headed toward the stairs. “I’ll see you in the morning for breakfast. About nine probably.”
“Alright. Thanks.” Wrapping my arms around my drama queen, I lowered my voice and whispered in his ear. “Want to go raid the pantry before we head upstairs, Chipmunk?”
That got a quiet giggle out of him as he nodded against my shoulder. “Yes, Daddy.”
Yep, he needed time to decompress from his family and the cookies that he’d subtly pointed out earlier were a good start.
“Then you just pretend to be my big boy for a few more minutes and then we’ll go relax.” It was time for cookies and cartoons and cute pajamas. The three Cs of being little. “Ready?”
