“No.” This time it was Eli. “You’re not going anywhere alone at the moment, remember?”
Drat.
That was right.
“Do you want to go with me?” she asked Eli.
Eli grimaced.
“Eli hates running,” Kellan told her.
“I don’t suppose you want to go to the gym and run on the treadmill?” Eli asked.
“I guess I could do that,” she said as they entered Fet and a lovely server showed them to a table.
“Ooh, this all sounds delicious,” she said, perusing the menu. More than she could really afford, though.
Which also reminded her . . .
“How much do I owe you guys for the hospital?” she asked. She’d given up on offering to pay the original hotel bill. Although she should offer to pay her share now. Staying at the hotel wasn’t cheap.
They both turned to her with a glare. Before they could say anything, though, a big guy stormed out of the kitchen and walked toward them. He had short, dark hair with some gray at the temples and a ferocious scowl on his face.
Was he . . . was he coming toward them?
Eli sighed as he spotted him. “Incoming. Renard.”
Kellan turned to look. “What’s wrong with him?”
“You,” he boomed, stopping next to her.
She glanced around but he didn’t seem to be talking to anyone else. “Me?”
“Yes, you!”
“Did I do something?” she asked.
“You’re the girl who is allergic to peanuts, right?”
“Um, yes.” Wow the town gossip was working overtime.
“I called ahead and warned them about your peanut allergy,” Eli explained.
Ahh. Right.
“I’m going to tell you the things you can’t eat,” the older guy said loudly. “You got a good memory or you want me to write it down?”
“I can remember.”
He pointed out three things on the menu. She’d figured they had nuts anyway.
“I’m going to prepare your food personally in a separate area,” he said.
“Oh, that’s really not necessary,” she said, aware of everyone staring at them.
“It is!” he said. “Do as you’re told.” And then he strode away, stopping to talk to the server. “Do you remember what she can’t eat?”
The woman looked startled for a moment, then nodded.
“Good! There will be no anaphylactic shock on my watch.”
After he left, there was silence. Then she heard someone speak from the table next to them.
“And this is why I drive hours to come to this place. Amazing food and a show.”
Great.
Just what she liked. Being a show.
“Sorry, baby,” Eli said. “I should have guessed he might do that. Renard is a . . . he’s . . .”
“Completely fucking nuts,” Kellan said.
“He’s also protective of the women in this town and really good at his job,” Eli told her. “I recommend the steak.”
“Just don’t order it well-done,” the same person at the table next to them told her. “He hates that.”
She ordered the steak and turned to the guys who were back to glaring at her. “What is it?”
“Owe us for the hospital?” Kellan repeated. “That’s not happening.”
“But that’s my debt and I should pay it. Also, I must owe you some money for the hotel since I’m staying with you both.”
“You don’t owe us anything,” Eli said fiercely. “You don’t keep track of money in a relationship.”
Oh, she guessed that was a good point.
“It just doesn’t feel right. Like I’m using you guys or something.”
“You aren’t doing anything like that,” Kellan said. “End of conversation.”
Their food arrived and Renard delivered the steak himself. “Good choice. You look pale, this will help.” He set the plate down. “Eat it all.”
“Is he always this bossy?” she asked.
“He is,” the man from the table next to her said.
Kellan glared at him and he turned away. As she ate a piece of steak she let out a low moan.
“That’s the best thing I’ve ever eaten.”
“Jesus, baby,” Eli said quietly. “Are you trying to make me hard?”
“What? No!” she said.
“You might want to stop those noises then,” Kellan told her, shifting on his chair uncomfortably.
Or maybe she wanted to ramp them up. Because she didn’t quite know how to seduce them into making love to her.
But perhaps she could push them over the edge.
Because she’d had enough of just sleeping in bed with them. It had been five days since they’d given her those orgasms. And she wanted more.
Even if that means being naked in front of them?
She thought about that for a long moment and realized that she trusted them.
They would never hurt her.
So she took another bite and let out a low moan.
Both men stilled and then turned those sharp, intense gazes on her.
“I think someone is teasing us,” Eli said in a low voice.
“She should be punished for this,” Kellan added as she licked her fork clean with long, slow strokes of her tongue.
Jeez.
Who knew this would be so fun?
“Not teasing you wasn’t a rule,” she pointed out as she took another bite of steak and moaned.
