Larissa wasn’t looking at him hopefully. In fact, she wasn’t even looking at him at all. She stared at his leather-covered chest and nibbled her lip. What was on her mind? He waited ... but she didn’t speak.

Something was off with Larissa. He had noticed it the few times he’d seen her. Before the shooting, every time he looked at her, she would be smiling. She was probably the happiest person he had ever known, and it sometimes pissed him off.

Now as he looked at her, he had noticed there were more often than not moments when she wasn’t happy. She was just ... there. This was one of those moments.

“How are you holding up?” he asked.

She tilted her head back. “Huh?”

“I won’t let Pussy Fuck come near you. What’s wrong?”

“Nothing is wrong,” she said.

“No? Then tell me, is my dancing that awful that you can’t even smile?”

“You don’t like when I smile, and I’m pretty sure you’re dancing with me because you’ve been ordered to.”

He scrunched up his nose. “Nah, I don’t do any of that shit. One thing you can guarantee, I don’t do anything I don’t want to do.” He winked at her.

And there it was, a small smile.

“I’m sure there is a lot of stuff you do that you don’t want to.”

“Or, I pay someone, or get someone to do it for me. Trust me, there are a lot of people willing to please me.”

“So I’ve seen and heard.”

He looked at her with a frown.

“You know, everyone wasn’t always on their good behavior. I saw a lot at the club, and I know there are a lot of women who want to win you over. I’m just not one of them.” And with that, she pulled away. “Thank you for the dance.”

She stepped back to the bar, and he watched as she ordered a soda.

The guys were looking at him. He wasn’t interested in any of the shit they had to say, so instead of returning to the bar, he caught sight of Andrew making his way to the bathroom. Larissa clearly didn’t want him hanging around, so Big Dick followed him.

There was no one in the bathroom, and he stepped inside and waited. He kept his hand on the door, keeping it closed so no one came in, then Andrew stepped out.

“George,” he said.

“Andrew, you and I both know why I’m here, so let’s not waste each other’s time. We both know what went down at the bakery. I suggest you leave Larissa alone.”

“Look, I made a mistake and I regret it.”

Big Dick let go of the door and closed the distance between himself and Andrew. “You made a mistake? Larissa got shot. I was dealing with the blowback, and you should have helped. You could have gotten her to the hospital. Instead, you ran away. No one wants a fucking coward. Back off, or I will give you a damn good reason to be afraid.”

Someone stepped into the bathroom, and Andrew lowered his gaze.

“Just like I thought.”

Stepping out of the bathroom, he looked toward the bar and saw that Larissa was gone. So, too, was Hailey. All that remained were Harlow, Ava, Abriana, and Raven. He made his way to the bar and slapped his hand on the counter, wanting a whiskey.

Those lips had felt like pure heaven.

“You know, she is out of your league,” Carlos said.

“What the fuck did you say to me?” Big Dick asked.

“Larissa, the dare, I think it would be for your own good to leave her alone. Women like Larissa do not fall for men like you,” Carlos said. “Just like Hailey will never fall for you.”

Kinky got to his feet.

Big Dick never bet, not on women, not on shit like this. He had a certain moral code. Maybe it was drilled into his head from his mother, but he treated certain women with the respect they deserved. Larissa was one of those women. He steered clear of her.

Yet, that kiss kept playing in his mind. He had kissed a lot of women. He had fucked a lot of women. Too many to count. There was a time he did count them, but that soon got boring. None of them, not a single one, ever came close to getting that kind of reaction out of him. Maybe it had been too long since he was with a woman, and he was just imagining these sensations with Larissa.

All women were the same.

“You want to make a bet?” Big Dick asked. The words were right out of his mouth.

“A bet?”

“Yeah, I promise you before this year is over, Larissa will be mine. I’ll own every single thing about her. She will do anything I say, no matter what.”

Carlos was surprised and he looked across the dance floor, probably for his wife.

“Don’t look to Raven for advice. If she found out, she’d be pissed.”
