“Everything under control back there?” he drawls, all slow and judgy.

I don’t let go of Daisy’s hand. If anything, I grip it tighter. “We’re good.”

He snorts and goes back to resetting the bar. Daisy’s mouth curves into that little half-smile she only flashes when she’s genuinely happy. God, I want to drag her right back into the office, but she’s already in motion, crossing to the register to run the final numbers.

I can’t stop watching her. It’s like my body doesn’t even register exhaustion if she’s in the room. The lines of her shoulders, the way her fingers flick through the cash drawer and snap bills tight, how she bites her lip when she’s deep in the math. Every inch of her does something to me I’ll never be able to explain.

She glances over her shoulder and catches me staring. One dark eyebrow goes up. “You planning to help me close out, or are you just here for the eye candy?”

Fuck me. My mouth goes dry.

I clear my throat and fake a stretch, flexing hard enough to make my sleeves ride higher on my biceps. “Let’s be honest, I’m way better at eye candy than closing out.”

She just snorts, unimpressed, and starts counting the drawer. “Get your ass to work, Skippy.” Fuck, I love her. She side-eyes me, daring me to keep up.

I lean on my forearms and try to focus on the last round of glasses, but my brain is already planning what I’m going to do to her curvy body as soon as I get her gorgeous ass home.

She snaps the register shut and gives me a look that’s one-hundred percent attitude. “You gonna sweep or just stand there looking pretty?”

It absolutely shouldn’t turn me on, but it does. I grab the broom, make a show of flexing. “Whatever you want, Mrs. Skippy.”

She watches me hustle the broom across the floor, her eyes dark and hot with that low-key amusement that means I’m doing exactly what she likes. I get half-hard just knowing I make her happy.

We power through closing like a two-man army. Chairs up. Lights down. Her hand finds mine when we kill the last switch by the door, and the jolt of it damn near knocks me sideways.

Out in the parking lot, it’s quiet as hell. Just her, me, stars overhead, and the truck waiting. She threads her fingers through mine, swinging our joined hands.

I look at her and want to freeze this moment. Fuck. Life doesn’t get any better than this.

The End
