He put the pudding in front of Tillie and sat down opposite her. It was a homemade chocolate pudding, with a dollop of whipped cream on top. “Please don’t drop me,” she said.
“I’m not going to drop you. Trust me, Tillie.”
She looked into his eyes, and he didn’t know what she saw, but she stopped wriggling and fighting him, and instead settled against him. She started to relax, which was exactly what he wanted.
Carrying her the rest of the way up to his bedroom, he kicked the door open and stepped inside. He only put her down on her feet when he was good and ready to do so. The moment he let her go, he cupped her face, tilted her head back, and kissed her. She moaned and he swallowed down the sound.
