Reality crashes back, and I suck in a breath, realizing just how close I was to crossing that line with the one man who drives me insane. I hastily shove him away. “In your dreams, Raiden,” I mutter as he laughs, enjoying this far too much.

I turn away and grab my phone, glancing over the new text from Louis.

Louis: That cunt belongs to me, Bianca. You won’t like what I make of you if I have to come looking.

Oh wonderful. Just a casual rape threat to end my evening. How lovely.

I laugh to myself as I start typing out a response.

Bianca: This number is no longer in service.

There. That should do it. At least, for now. He’ll obsess over what he thinks he’s entitled to for the next few days, might even attempt to come after me, but he’s also a lazy motherfucker. Once he realizes I’m no longer in the country, his search will stop, and he’ll set his sights on his next victim. All while I watch and wait, hoping like fuck a contract appears with his name in bold.

Reaching for my wine, I throw back what’s left before giving Raiden a forced smile. “I’m out,” I say. “Feel free to see me again never, and stay here in this beautiful town for the rest of your natural-born life.”

Getting up from the barstool, I take off toward the hotel lobby when Raiden falls in beside me. “Heading to bed?” he asks.

I bite back a groan, wishing I had another blow dart on me. Those two days he spent out cold were some of the best days of my life.

I don’t bother responding as we step out of the bar and turn the corner to head toward the elevators.

“Interesting night, huh?” he says, glancing at me, his eyes sparkling with silent laughter, knowing just how easy it is to get under my skin. “You always turn in this early after a party, or are you heading up to change into something a little more . . . exciting for your new sugar daddy? That was him texting, right? Just letting you know he’s on his way? I could give you a few pointers if you need, let you know how to really blow his mind. I assume it won’t take much. A man like that is probably a five pump chump, but then he’ll crash in your bed and expect you to suck his cock in the morning. If I were you. I’d sneak out early.”

A deep groan rumbles through my chest as we reach the elevators, and he presses the call button. “Do you ever stop talking?”

He shakes his head. “When the sound of my voice has you balling your hands into fists and has got you this worked up? Hell no.”

I offer him a chilling stare. “I’m not going to fuck you, Raiden.”

“Wouldn’t dream of it, Firecracker.”

“Mm-hmm.”

The elevator arrives, and Raiden prances on as though he hasn’t got a care in the world, but I stay right where I am as he turns to look at me through the open doors. “Come on, Firecracker. I’m not going to bite,” he says, putting his hand up and holding the door until I start walking in. “Not unless you beg me for it.”

Rolling my eyes, I stand as far away from the delicious piece of man-meat as the elevator will allow, and just as I go to press the button for the eighteenth floor, it lights up. My head whips toward Raiden, realization quickly dawning.

“Oh, hell no!” I say, just as the door closes us in. “Do not tell me you are actually in the suite next to me. What the fuck is my life?” The elevator takes us up, and I immediately begin pacing the small space, frustration burning through me like lava as Raiden simply stands back and watches my performance with that overly cocky grin on his face.

“Fuck me,” I continue. “Just one night. Is it too much to ask for just one night where you’re not the only thing going through my mind?”

Raiden arches a brow in the same moment I realize what just came out of my mouth, and I find myself pausing as I start shaking my head, already trying to backtrack.

The tension in the elevator hits me like a freight train, and I stumble over my words as his heavy gaze remains locked on mine. “No. I, uhh . . . That’s not what I—”

Raiden steps toward me, and I instinctively step back, crowding myself against the wall of the elevator as he reaches around me and presses the emergency stop button, bringing the elevator to a screeching halt somewhere between the tenth and eleventh floors.

He doesn’t say a word as he steps in even closer, both our chests rising and falling with heavy breaths as the tension in the elevator reaches boiling point. A deep hunger shines through his gold-speckled eyes, and as he looks at me with such intense desire, I’ve never felt more beautiful in my life.
