“Well, that didn’t stop Ash or Colin, did it?” Lance teases, which gets us all laughing.

“As much as I enjoy watching sometimes,” I add on a more serious note, “tonight I’m more in the mood to get dicked down.”

“I know the feeling,” Lance says, eyeing Ty in a way that means they probably won’t be sticking around the party much longer. Meanwhile, Ryan and Mart are giving each other the sex eyes, so I imagine they’ll be following shortly after.

Oh, my guys. I love ’em.

It sucks that this will be my last year with most of them, since they’ll all be graduating. I’m glad some of my crew will still be living at the frat house next year, though—Damien, Leo, and a few others I’ve gotten close to since transferring to Peach State. Also, we’ll have room again once Sigma Alpha is back in their own house.

“What the fuck is he doing here?” Ryan grits out as I down the rest of my beer.

My buzz is buzzing, just how I like, everything feeling bright and loud and fun. It’s exactly what I’m looking for tonight and why I don’t let it dim my mood when I look over and see Miles lounging on the sofa—drink in hand, his gaze skipping over everyone in that way you do when you’re pretending you just happened to catch someone’s gaze. Mine, in this case. Is that what he’s doing? I don’t get why he would, but Miles is impossible to make sense of, which isn’t my favorite feeling in the world.

“Who cares about Miles Tanner?” I say. The guy is an asshole, hates the world, and is apparently a pyro—he’s the one responsible for the Omega Psi prank that got out of hand, which is why him being here is getting under Ryan’s skin. That, and he tried to start a fight with me last week at a nonprofit housing build. Miles got into helping the community more after his stint of court-appointed service, but despite being eager to help out, he was not eager to make new friends, since one little fumble while we were carrying plywood had him coming at me like I’d been clumsy on purpose. I mean, I could see why he might think one of the frat guys might be trying to give him shit for what happened, but I was nothing but friendly to the guy.

That’s me, ladies and gentlemen, the guy who hates to be disliked, especially when the person has no reason to dislike me.

Miles isn’t with his usual crew tonight, keeping to himself, all intense and broody. That fuck-all air about him, looking around like he’s too cool for fun, and somehow managing to make a fucking hoodie and jeans look sexy. He’s one big red flag, but…a damn hot one. Whatever. I’m drunk and having fun with my buddies, so I don’t give a shit about him or his weird-ass attitude tonight.

“I care about that asshole,” Ryan chimes in. “He tried to start shit with you and, most importantly, my guy.”

Oh yeah, that happened too. Just glad it didn’t escalate because Ryan would have handed Miles his ass.

“Is he even supposed to be here?” Lance asks.

“I think his probation is ending,” Marty gripes, “and this is Omega Psi, so it’s not like they ever follow the rules anyway. Clearly.” He glances around as if he’s noticed five new violations in one quick scan. Marty not only follows all the rules, he makes a lot of them too. It’s part of what we love about the guy, though.

“I can’t believe we’ll have to deal with him at the builds this summer too,” Ryan says.

The nonprofit has a few ongoing projects, so while Ryan and Mart help out, they’ll be rooming with me at the place I’m renting. I’m actually looking forward to hanging with them some more, unless Mart gets all bent out of shape over cleaning dishes or some weird shit like that.

“Just ignore him,” I tell them, turning my body away from Miles, a symbolic gesture of what I plan to do. I’m not really the type to dislike anything, but I still can’t get over him losing his shit on me that day. I don’t get why he would act like that. And I hate that it’s still on my mind.

“I’m going for a refill,” I tell them, my fratbros continuing to dance as a few other Alpha Theta Mus join in. We might be going to parties with other frats, but we always stick together, especially around Omega Psis.

Leo calls over from a nearby group of girls he’s been flirting with, “Hey, man. You coming back soon?”

“Yep.”

But the beer is really good, and this beautiful guy with shaggy black hair and golden-brown skin hits me up when I’m at the kitchen bar.
