Her delicate pink tongue peeks out to wet her bottom lip, and I quietly groan. I’m busy fighting for control of these haywire emotions, so her words barely register, “I’ll call you Mr. Templeton.” This little doll is all sass. And my cock loves it. Reaching down, I button my jacket to hide the evidence. “I’m Jenna Summers, the twit-in-chief.” As she smirks at me, I’m not sure if I want to spank her ass red for her insolence or kiss her until she forgets the words she heard me shouting at my mother earlier.

“That was unforgivably rude of me.” I decide to apologize for my insults instead. “I’d like the chance to talk to you and my mother about this situation,” I reason with her. Surely, she understands I can’t allow my mother to give away Ms. Southern Magazine.

“Mr. Templeton, you need to discuss your concerns with Ms. Milly.” She shrugs. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to rally the twits.” As she turns and sashays away, my cock begs me to ignore all this shit and go win the girl. That ass alone is worth a thousand fucking magazines.

JENNA

Piper leans her head next to mine and whispers, “He’s hawt.”

My crazy best friend fans herself, and I roll my eyes and look away when the hot jerk storms toward his mother. Months ago, Ms. Milly and I discussed the future of Ms. Southern Magazine, and she advised me to ignore her uptight, workaholic son. Thinking back, I fight my body’s stupid tendency to blush as I recall her exact words. “The boy has a stick up his ass.”

My friend smacks my arm and laughs as the blush wins and moves steadily up my neck and face. “You’re having dirty thoughts about Lucas Templeton.” She snorts.

Yes, I’ve been having the filthiest thoughts ever since Wild Templeton walked in and called us twits. He’s the epitome of tall, dark, handsome, and conceited. When he stares at me with his cold, deep blue eyes, little shards of electricity pulse along my nerves. My fingers itch to run through his perfectly styled caramel-brown hair and mess it up. I fight the insane urge to run my tongue along the cleft in his chin to see if the skin is soft or slightly rough. All these crazy impulses make me wonder if the stress of converting Ms. Southern Magazine into Curvy Cuties has finally driven me insane.

I glance at Piper and sigh. We’ve been besties since diapers, and she knows me better than anybody else. Her family was my safe place to stay when I needed to get away from my foster home. As we grew up, we grew even closer with age. I’m not ready to discuss my feelings for Lucas Templeton with anyone, so I do the one thing guaranteed to erase his hotness from my best friend’s mind. “He called us all twits.” Glancing to the side, I watch her eyes narrow.

She shakes her head sadly and sighs. “Why are the hot ones always such assholes?”

“Nature’s way of keeping the population down,” I tease and attempt to change the subject. I need to get my heart and mind off of Lucas Wylder Templeton. “What are you bringing tonight?” Since our first year of college, every other Friday night is girl’s night. We get together at one of our apartments and unwind from our hectic lives. This evening, we’re meeting at London’s place to celebrate Curvy Cuties, formerly known as Ms. Southern Magazine.

When I applied for the Assistant Editor position a year ago, I had no idea it would turn into this opportunity. Ms. Milly was ready to retire, and she was looking for someone to take over the operation. I came in and showed her my ideas.

Together, we took the struggling, old-fashioned ladies’ magazine and turned it into something that interests the modern woman. I hired my four best friends and the rest is history. Ms. Milly has retired, and we now run the whole show. The only cloud in my bright blue sky is Lucas Wylder Templeton IV, the “Wild” king asshole.

Piper bites her lip and, I fear she’s not going to let me off the hook easily, but she sighs. “I’m bringing the good tequila.” She wiggles her eyebrows and I laugh.

“Then I’ll pick up a to-go taco and burrito box from Three Amigos on my way.” Before I get busy and forget, I pull my phone out of my pocket and place an online order for later. “We need something to soak up all the alcohol.”

Piper agrees. “I’ll send out a group message so no one else brings Mexican.”

I sneak off to my office to avoid running into Wild Templeton again. Ms. Milly sticks her head in my door and tells me goodbye a little while later, and I breathe a sigh of relief. As much as I love the other woman, I’ve been counting the minutes until the whole horse and pony show announcement is done so I can get back to work. To my relief, the rest of the afternoon flies by without any issues.
