“I’m going to keep you to that. Now, make love to me.”

Noah lifted her off the counter, and they walked back into the bedroom only to come to a stop.

She saw the tray of soup on the bed, and they both groaned.

Turning back to him, she laughed. “I’m happy with sex on the floor.”

“You’re a woman who read my mind.”

When it came to Noah, she was happy with anything, just so long as she had him.

Epilogue

Ten years later

“You must have been so scared, Daddy,” Bunny said.

Noah shook his head. “Not at all. Your mom was a hero that day.”

Sage chuckled as she brought in the hot chocolate. “Will you stop with that story?” she asked.

“It’s the first time I told her that I loved her.”

“Yeah, Mom. Dad has been telling that story for years. We all love it.”

She glanced over at her eldest son, Daniel, who sat curled up in the chair, reading a comic book.

Christmas carols played softly in the room. Noah had gotten the fire going a few hours ago, and their children, all six of them, were around them. Even Daniel, their eldest, hadn’t wanted to go out with friends.

After ten years of marriage, there were times that she had to pinch herself to make herself see this was real.

Daniel was their eldest, then there were the twins, Eliza and Bethany, who were eight years old. Followed by Lucas, at six, then Charlie and Bunny, who were both four. This was their family.

She put the cookies down and watched as their children each grabbed one. The hot chocolates were the next to go.

Noah pulled her down into his arms and kissed her. A mixture of cheers and groans filled the air.

“Next year, it’ll be another brother or sister,” Daniel said.

“You love being the big brother,” Noah said.

“I know. I wasn’t complaining.” Daniel had a big smile on his face.

“In that case, kids, your mother and I have an announcement,” Noah said, putting his hand on her stomach.

“I called it,” Eliza said. “Pay up.”

Sage burst out laughing as each of their kids, apart from Charlie and Bunny, each put ten dollars into Eliza’s hand.

“What is this?” Noah asked.

“Well, Daniel said you’re not pregnant yet because he didn’t see the crackers. Bethany said you weren’t pregnant ’cause Dad wasn’t home yet. Lucas said you’d be pregnant after Christmas. Bunny and Charlie didn’t get a say. They’re too young.”

“Hey!” they both said together.

“And I said you were pregnant,” Eliza said.

“And how did you know, missy?” Noah asked.

“A hunch.” Eliza laughed.

“You’re all happy though, right?” Sage asked.

They all screamed yes, and Noah held her tighter.

This was her family. Her dream and her everything. It was hard for her to believe that it all started because she saw a single file with plans on how to knock her up. At least that wasn’t the tale he told their kids.
