This is why I’ve never had a one-night stand. I can’t keep feelings and sex in two separate boxes. They’re the same to me, and Reid’s not helping. He’s sweet and patient, and damn him for making me want him. He’s already rocked my world more than once tonight. I should be satisfied and ready to walk away, right? Isn’t that how this is supposed to work?

Shaking out of my thoughts, I step under the hot spray. Reid does, as well, closing the shower door behind him. He turns us so that the water is beating down on his back. His arms hold tightly around my waist as he pushes my hair to one shoulder and kisses my neck.

“How are you feeling, dream girl?” he asks softly.

“Come on now, you’ve already had me. You don’t need to keep showering me with sweet words. I was a sure thing,” I tease. My words betray my body’s reaction to him referring to me as his dream girl. He’s still looking for her. He can’t expect me to believe that suddenly, I’m that girl for him. I can’t let his monster cock or his wicked tongue pull me into a false sense of security.

Gently, he turns me to face him. One hand wraps around my waist, settling at the base of my spine and holding me close to him. The other cradles my cheek, and he tilts my head so that we’re eye to eye. “I’m not that guy, Bellamy. I won’t lie to you and give you pretty words to manipulate you. That’s not what this is. With each minute that passes, the more I learn about you, the harder I fall.”

“You’re not supposed to fall,” I whisper.

He leans down, his lips a breath from mine. “You can’t stop me.” Dropping his hand from my cheek, he grabs one of my hands and places it over his heart. His blue eyes hold me captive. A tremor of emotion that I refuse to name shakes my chest. I want to close my eyes, to break the intensity of his stare, but his gaze ignites something in me I can’t name—something I refuse to name.

Finally, he breaks the spell, drops my hand, and reaches for the shampoo. I stand still, letting him lather my hair. I’ve never had a man wash my hair for me. I know I should tell him to stop, that I can handle this on my own, because I can, but I also know that when the sun rises in a few short hours, our time together will be over. So, instead, I stand still and allow him to take care of me, while trying to ignore the fact that he’s the first man ever to want to do so.

“Switch with me.”

Doing as he says, we swap places. My back is to the spray, so I dip my head, letting it rinse out the shampoo. My eyes are closed, so I don’t see him coming, but I feel him suck a nipple into his mouth. He does this thing with his tongue and his teeth. A nip, and then a soothing caress; it has my knees going weak and my pussy throbbing for more of him.

I grip his forearms to keep from falling. His wicked tongue is going to be the root cause of me crashing to this shower floor.

“I’ve got you,” he assures me.

The next thing I know, I’m being lifted in the air. Automatically, I lock my naked, wet body around his and hold on tightly. Reid turns us and pushes my back up against the shower wall. “I can’t get enough of you,” he growls.

I’ve read about men and their growly voices, but hot damn, the real thing has nothing on fiction. I want to tell him that I feel the same, but I choose to keep my mouth clamped shut. There’s no point in pretending this can be more than what it is.

His lips trail down my neck, and his hard cock grinds against me.

“Please,” I moan, because damn if I don’t crave feeling him inside me again.

“Bad news, beautiful,” he says, nipping at my ear.

“What’s that?” My body stiffens, waiting for his rejection.

“Only had one condom.”

“What? You don’t carry more than one?” I ask.

He thinks this is the funniest thing in the world because he tosses his head back in laughter. “No, Bellamy, I don’t carry more than one. I know that we don’t know each other very well, but I don’t do this sort of thing often.”

“You don’t have to lie to me,” I tell him, looking over his shoulder.

“I won’t lie to you. Ever. It’s been almost a year since I’ve been with anyone, and she was—” he starts, but I raise my hand and place it over his mouth.

“Stop. I don’t want to hear about her,” I say, hearing the jealousy in my tone.
