“You like calling me hubby. I know this because your dick jumped when you said it.”

I grin against his neck. “I’m a simple man.”

“I’m not,” Riko whispers. “I’m loud and chaotic and complicated as fuck.”

“I know. And I think you’re amazing, dammit.”

Riko

This thing with my roommate is surreal.

I fell asleep in Derek’s arms last night and it was the best rest I’ve had in ages. How he slipped out from behind me, got ready for work, and left without me realizing it is surprising. And disappointing. I’ve missed him all day.

Don’t text him again.

Don’t do it.

I’m bored as I wait to be seen by Casey, so I do it anyway.

Me: How do you feel about ribeyes, baked potatoes, and salad for dinner?

He doesn’t respond right away which means he’s driving. Derek isn’t careless. Safety with his job is important. I know he’ll respond soon.

“Riko,” Drew says, motioning for me to follow him. “You ready?”

I frown as I get to my feet. “Where’s Satan this lovely afternoon?”

He smirks over his shoulder at me. “Restroom. Something didn’t agree with her at lunch. I told her I’d get you started.”

Drew’s hot and fills out his button-down dress shirt in all the right places, but he doesn’t hold a candle to Derek’s physique. I’m dying to lick Derek’s abs. Dying.

I make my way into my usual room with Drew. He’s never done my therapy before, so I’m unsure what to expect. Can’t be any more painful than what Casey doles out.

Ten minutes in and I realize how wrong I am. Clearly, Casey learned everything she knew from her boss.

“Fuck, man, are you trying to kill me?” I bellow, fisting my hands. “This place is evil. You’re all villains.”

He snorts out a laugh. “I’m trying to figure out who’s the bigger crybaby around here. Is it you or my wife? It’s a tossup.”

I flip him off and he laughs again. Asshole. I’m thankful when Casey finally shows up. Since she’s pale and doesn’t look so hot, I can hopefully count on her going easy on me. Drew finishes up the massage and then leaves so Casey can start with the stretches.

“Bad Chinese food for lunch?” I ask with an arched brow.

She frowns and lowers her voice. “I don’t think it’s food.”

For the next several moments, I’m distracted as she contorts me into a pretzel. My yells of pain do nothing to deter her. Finally, she gives me a moment to catch my breath. Only because she’s seconds from puking. She rolls her chair over to the trashcan and spits in it.

“Does this mean we get to be done early?” I sit up on my elbows to watch her.

She gags but nothing comes up. Her head shakes and she holds up a finger, motioning for me to sit tight for a minute. My phone buzzes and I take the opportunity to check it while she’s distracted.

Rhett: Coming by later to meet this guy.

Me: I think we’re a thing now.

Rhett: Really?? You two fucked?

Me: He gave me head and it was amazing.

Rhett: Now I really gotta meet him.

Me: You just want to come over and cockblock me.

Rhett: That’s what best friends are for. I want to make sure he passes the test.

Me: Test?

Rhett: The Good Enough for My Best Friend test. If he fails, I’m not going to be quiet about it.

Casey rolls her chair back over to me, some color returning to her face. “Sorry about that.”

“Are you pregnant?” I blurt out, jokingly.

Her eyes widen in horror. “N-No. I can’t be. My baby is only a few months old—”

“You do know how babies are made, right?”

“Funny,” she deadpans. “I’m not pregnant. I can’t be. It’s too soon.”

“Whatever you say.”

The fear of my words must give her just the boost of energy she needs, because she spends the rest of my visit making me want to cry. By the end of it, I’m exhausted and crabby.

“Are you okay, Riko?” Casey asks as I rise to my feet.

“You literally tried to kill me. No.”

She rolls her eyes. “Not about that. In general. With life. You’re different. Is it the new roommate?”

A stupid grin tugs at my lips. “I’m going to marry him.”

I’m joking. Mostly. I think.

“Is that so, huh?” Her eyes twinkle now that she’s feeling better.

“He’s perfect husband material. I swear, he does and says the sweetest shit. Maybe you should pinch me to make sure I’m not dreaming.”

“I love that for you,” she says, nodding. “But I thought you were being careful.”

“I am!” I snort out a laugh. “It’s him we forgot to warn. He kissed me.” And then sucked my dick.

“Wow, so the man knows what he wants and that’s you.”

“He calls me hubby.”

“You’re blushing! Riko Valentine is blushing!”

We both crack up with laughter.

“You would too if you knew what he could do with his tongue,” I say, taunting her.
