“I don’t understand why I can’t just stay at my own place and just don’t answer the phone or door.” I look over at her real quick and see she is once again biting her lip. My dick twitches whenever she does that, picturing it wrapped around my meat.
I know why she is confused. I haven’t told her about the guy I found in her place. I was trying to save her some anxiety, but maybe that was a mistake. “What haven’t you told me, Jozef?” Her eyes are locked on me and I can’t stop the smirk from forming. She is smart and her ability to read me is refreshing and fucking annoying. I do like that she is not afraid to ask me anything.
Sighing, I run my hands through my head and take a deep breath. “He sent someone to sweep your place a couple of days ago, baby. I found the guy and made him talk, but by now he will realize his guy isn’t coming back and he will connect it to you. It is no longer safe to leave you out in the open.” Pure horror passes her face followed by indecision.
“What do you mean by his man won’t be coming back? How did you make him talk?” Shit. This is what I was trying to avoid.
“Don’t ask me questions you don’t want the answers to, Aisling. I won’t ever lie to you, but if you ask me something make sure you are ready to know.” I keep my face hard and unmoving. I want her to understand how serious I am about this. She simply nods and turns her head. Fuck I hope this surprise waiting for us will ease some of her angst.
The day after I was branded, I took the oath and was welcomed into the family. I pulled my brother aside and asked him for a few things. First, I know she hasn’t been to an obstetrician for fear of her boss finding out, so she hasn’t been properly checked out. I also asked if there could be a secured line in his home she could use to finally talk to her family. He approved both. A doctor is waiting for us to arrive. I feel like it would go a long way to easing her anxiety and trusting me by seeing our baby.
“Holy moly.” she whispers beside me as we pull up to the gates. “Your brother lives here?”
“Yes. With his fiancé and I believe our mother has finally arrived.” She looks over at me in shock and panic.
“Your mother? Jozef, you didn't tell me your mom would be here.” Oh brother.
“Słodki anioł, it will be fine. My mother will love you. Plus, once I tell her you are pregnant she is going to be all over you.” With my thumb, I remove her lip from her mouth and lean over the middle console. Slowly I touch her lips with mine and a moan leaves her throat. I slide my tongue into her mouth, coaxing her to kiss me back. I need to distract her from all of this. As usual she melts into our kiss and allows me to lead her to peace. I pull back when I hear the clearing of a throat.
“Sir.” I kiss her once more and turn toward the window.
“Bull. Skull. This is my queen, Aisling. Baby these are two of the many guards you will see around. They keep the grounds secure and make sure you are safe in your surroundings.” tentatively, she smiles and waves her hand. “Is everything already set?” I ask them, making sure the doctor has arrived.
“Yes sir. Everything is ready. Your mother also arrived yesterday.”
“Excellent. Thank you.” I pull the rest of the way up and park in the circular driveway. I walk around to her side and open her door holding my hand out for her. She steps out her eyes taking in the opulently extravagant grounds. My brother's fortress is beautiful. The gardens are vast and surround every corner, filled with lilies and orchids. There is a fountain in the middle of the yard and a coy pond off to the side with benches and chairs.
The front door flies open before I can say anything to her and my brother and his lady come bounding down the stairs. “Oh my goodness you're finally here.” Chiara says, pulling Aisling into a hug. Her eyes move to mine clearly taken aback, but she recovers and smiles, hugging her back.
I hear Jak chuckle. “Baby, give her air. Let her take a breath,'' he says to her, pulling her back into his arms. Her cheeks turn red and then she looks at Aisling.
“I’m sorry. I am just so excited to have another girl around here. It gets lonely with only guys.” She shrugs her shoulders. “My name is Chiara. This big brute is Jakub.” My brother pulls her further into him like she is an appendage and kisses the side of her head.
