By the time two o’clock came around, Ewan’s room was almost unrecognisable. It wasn’t up to Dev’s standards of clean and tidy, but it wasn’t Ewan’s usual bomb site, by any means. Admittedly he’d hidden a lot of dirty clothes and other crap under his bed, but on the surface it looked pretty good. The bed was made—not with clean sheets, that was a step too far, but the covers were straight and he had cleared enough space on his desk for two people to work at it. And most amazingly of all, he could actually see the bits of carpet that weren’t covered by furniture.

Ewan stood back and surveyed his handiwork. It looked pretty nice like that. Maybe he should try a little harder to keep it tidy even when he wasn’t trying to impress someone.

He wasn’t entirely sure why he’d made so much effort, but Dev seemed so fastidious and organised. Ewan didn’t want him to find out he was a hot mess and be turned off before they’d even got started with anything sexual.

God. His heart thumped harder as he imagined how that might go. He wasn’t entirely sure what had happened yesterday and honestly hadn’t intended on offering his services as a sexpert when he rushed around to Dev’s house. He hadn’t really been thinking much at all, beyond wanting to warn Dev that his Grindr profile would be like catnip to the creepiest predators on the internet, and suggesting that maybe he should tone down all the “virgin seeks experience” stuff a little. Then he’d opened his mouth and said things without thinking—that happened to him a lot—and he’d promised.

A gentleman’s agreement, as Dev had called it.

The things Ewan was imagining doing to Dev weren’t very gentlemanly, but better Ewan than some creep on Grindr. Whatever happened, he was going to make sure Dev enjoyed himself. Ewan’s first times for everything had been with someone he liked, someone he trusted. He wanted to be that person for Dev.

The sound of the doorbell had him running down the stairs. It was two on the dot, so he reckoned it must be Dev. Already, Ewan had the feeling Dev was the sort of person to be utterly punctual.

Ryan beat him to the front door. When Ewan got there, he could just see Dev’s face over Ryan’s shoulder.

“Yeah?” Ryan said.

“I’m here to see Ewan,” Dev said, raising his chin as though he’d been challenged. “To help him with his statistics.”

“Hi, Dev,” Ewan called. “Let him in, Ry.”

Ryan stepped aside so Dev could slip past him.

“Cheers,” Ewan said to Ryan. Then to Dev, “Shall we go up? Or do you want a drink or anything?”

“No thanks.”

“Okay, then, I’m up the top like you.” Ewan led the way, keenly aware of Dev following and suddenly very conscious of his arse and what Dev might think of it. Ewan had a good arse, in his own opinion. Hopefully Dev would agree.

He let Dev into his room and closed the door behind them. It was a decent-sized room for a student house, but with Dev in it, Ewan was suddenly almost claustrophobic, as if there wasn’t enough air for both of them. His heart was racing and his hands prickled with sweat.

He’s here to help you with your maths, for fuck’s sake, he reminded himself. Chill!

“So, um… have a seat.” He gestured vaguely at the desk. He’d borrowed a chair from downstairs so there would be one for each of them.

“Thanks.” Dev sat on the wooden chair from downstairs, leaving the comfier desk chair for Ewan.

Ewan sat beside him and spread out his papers. “So this is what I’m working on. I’ve made a start, but I’m not sure if what I’ve done already is right. Maybe you should start by checking it.”

“Sure—oh, hang on.” Dev shifted in his seat, reached into his back pocket, and pulled out a neatly folded page from a notebook. “Let me give you this now so I don’t forget. It’s my list.”

Dev held it out to Ewan, his hand shaking slightly. Maybe he was feeling as nervous and awkward as Ewan.

Ewan stared into Dev’s dark brown eyes. With long, thick lashes, they were ridiculously beautiful. Dev licked his lips, drawing Ewan’s attention to those instead. That didn’t help matters; his mouth was pretty too.

“It’s my list of things I want to learn about,” Dev said. “Sex things.”

Ewan swallowed. “Yeah. I got that.”

He took the piece of paper. Looking at it now was probably a bad idea. He was supposed to be thinking about numbers… but instead he was thinking about Dev’s pink lips around his cock. Surely oral had to be on the list?

Please let it be on the list.

“Can I look now?” His voice was a dry scrape. He cleared his throat. “I mean… it’s probably better to check it while you’re here, in case there’s anything that I—I mean anything that’s….”
