I grabbed my soda and took a big gulp.

“I was driving back to DC after a week of meetings in Atlanta,” he went on. “I was hungry, I hadn’t slept well, and I was infuriated with myself because I was nowhere near reaching the goals I’d set out to accomplish before I turned thirty.” He shook his head to himself, appearing to be lost in an inside joke. “As if this weren’t enough, a storm rolled in and turned day into night right before I reached Richmond. Hail the size of golf balls, thunder, lightning—and before I know it, my windshield looks like a spider web, and there’s a ball of ice stuck in the glass.”

“Christ.” I’d seen videos like that on YouTube. “You didn’t get hurt, did you?”

“No, but I couldn’t drive very well,” he chuckled. “I was stuck on the side of the road until the sky had stopped firing bullets at the ground, and then I did something stupid. I stepped out of the car and tried to remove the hail. Of course, this left a hole in the middle of the window, right in front of the wheel.” He scowled playfully when I laughed. “I was soaking wet in two seconds, and once back in the car, I drove into Richmond at a snail’s pace—with the rain spraying through the hole in the window.” He shuddered. “The bus station wasn’t far away from where I was, and I knew I would find auto shops there, so that’s where I headed.”

I couldn’t help but grin. It had to have been where he met Colt.

“Only one auto shop was still open by then,” he said, a rueful smile on his face. “I didn’t care about the cost. I was so done—and happy to hand over the keys. I was still stuck, but at least I wasn’t on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere.” He paused for effect, probably seeing the anticipation in me. “I was about to call a cab to take me to a hotel, when I saw a bar across the street.”

So this was where he met Colt. Right? Right?

“Alcohol had never seemed like such a brilliant idea as it did then,” Lucas laughed softly. “I stumbled inside, and the first thing I did was knock someone over.” He narrowed his eyes at my snicker. “You think that’s funny? Just wait, little one. It gets worse.” How was that even possible? Also, it was seriously hot when he called me little one. “There I stood, soaked to the bone, angry, hungry, out of breath, with a dozen men and women staring at me. And there was a young woman on the floor by my feet giving me a death glare—the girl I’d accidentally knocked to the ground.” He blew out a breath and groaned. “Turned out she was there with her family, and she had a handful of brothers who weren’t too happy about me.”

“Oh no!” I cracked up and fell back against the cushions, and I covered my mouth with my hands. That was too funny!

“He looked like a drowned kitten,” a sleepy voice rumbled behind me. Next, Colt’s arm snaked around my waist, and I shivered as the chuckles died down. “I knew right away—”

“That you were going to fall in love with him?” I scooted closer to the edge so I could peer down at Colt.

He smirked. “No, that I was going to fuck with him.”

Both Lucas and I huffed, which made Colt chuckle.

“You always were a menace,” Lucas drawled.

“Mm, but it worked out, didn’t it?” Colt shot him a wink. “Besides, I saved you from getting your pretty teeth kicked in.”

Lucas conceded there. “You did.”

They were so sweet. But it must be an interesting tale. Two dominant men…?

“Was it tricky finding your way in kink when you’re both Doms?” I asked.

Lucas gave Colt a look filled with both affection and amusement. “It definitely offered a few hurdles, but I think we handled them fairly well.”

“Absolutely.” Colt had as much love in his eyes as Lucas did, and it stabbed me with envy.

They were lucky. I could only pray to find something like that one day.

“Thank fuck you’re a slut for cock, though,” Colt said and sat up. I almost choked at his statement. “Easier to handle your bossy attitude when you bend over so eagerly.”

Lucas didn’t look impressed. He merely sighed and reached for the bowl of popcorn.

I furrowed my brow.

I turned to Lucas. “But you’re not a switch, Sir?”

“Don’t confuse bottom for sub.” He tapped my nose, and I smiled sheepishly. He had a point. “My God, you’re adorable, Kit.” He shook his head and cupped my cheeks, which were already heating up. I wouldn’t be me otherwise. What had I done to deserve their company? They were so nice to me.
