I drink another sip of water and am finally able to breathe. “They call me that because I’m private, so I don’t give anyone anything. It’s Private Mark.” I shake my head. “I almost died.”

She shrugs and rolls her eyes. “You were fine.” She then stares right at me, and I’m mesmerized by her blue eyes. They are crystal blue today especially now that she’s joking. “I mean, if that was just a way for me to give you mouth-to-mouth, it was a little dramatic.”

“Trust me, if I wanted mouth-to-mouth, I would just take it,” I say, and her eyes shift. If I wasn’t looking at her, I would have missed it. The outside of her blue eyes turns just a touch darker, and she gets blue dots in the middle.

“Is that so?” she asks. I don’t get a chance to answer before the waiter comes by and places our appetizers in the middle of the table.

“Are you ready to order?’ he asks us, and Vivienne looks at me.

“I’ll let you decide,” she tells me, taking a piece of pita and dipping it in the tzatziki. When she moans, my cock gets rock hard in the blink of an eye. I order a bunch of stuff, and I am sure it’s way too much food, but my brain wasn’t getting the blood flow it needed. “This is really good,” she says, and I just nod at her, taking a piece of pita and eating it.

“Who did you go to Greece with?” I ask her, wondering if she has someone. Usually, she flies solo. There is even a side bet going with certain players to see who will finally tame her. If Matthew found out, he would ream their asses.

“I went with my cousin from France,” she says. “It was two weeks of heaven. Sunny every single day. We stayed in the little village at this little place.” I raise my eyebrows. “Fine. We had our own villa, but it was beautiful. And we chartered a yacht for two days, and it was perfect.”

“My father is from there,” I tell her, and she looks at me. “So I visit once or twice a year, and then I go to Italy and visit some of my mother’s cousins.”

“That doesn’t sound like a bad trip,” she says, smiling, and I shake my head.

“Not a bad trip at all,” I tell her. “Why didn’t you call?”

“I’m not sure,” she says, taking a big gulp of wine.

“Did you not want to?” I ask her, hoping this pull I feel isn’t just one-sided.

“Oh, I wanted to,” she finally says softly. “I just didn’t want to muddy the waters.”

“Meaning?” I ask her.

“Meaning, I don’t know what would happen after,” she answers me.

“You’ll never know unless you call,” I tell her. “I’m not asking for your hand in marriage, Vivienne. I’m old-fashioned,” I tell her, and she raises her eyebrows, “but not that old-fashioned.”

“Old-fashioned?” she questions me. “Does that mean you do all the work?”

“What fun would that be?” I tell her and lean forward softly. “Nothing sexier than watching a woman ride.” And just like that, her eyes change to the darkest blue I’ve ever seen. I watch her swallow and see that she shifts in her chair, but I don’t want to push her. “I’m sure you’ll agree.”

She looks at me, and I see the wicked out in her. “Personally, I like to look over my shoulder.”

I nod at her. The waiter comes and places all our food on the table, but I’m not the least bit hungry. I don’t even want to eat. The only thing I want to do is fuck her on the table, but I know I can’t yet. She eats some lamb, and the rest of the conversation is easy.

“Are you excited for the start of the season?” she asks.

“I am,” I say. “I think Matthew has done a good job putting the team together. Plus, we got a couple of rookies coming in who are impressive, and we did just get Viktor.”

“I met him yesterday at the barbecue,” she says. I wait for her to say something about him. “Not a talkative type, but then again, I was trying to sleep on our way home.” I don’t let it show that this piece of information bothers me. “Zoe spent most of the time talking to him.”

“I met him today. He seems like a good guy who got a bad rap, but that’s what happens when you aren’t private.”

“Is that so?” she says, finishing off her glass of wine and then drinking some sparkling water.

“If you don’t give anyone anything to talk about, they move along,” I point out, grabbing my card and putting it down in the black check folder and then waiting for him to come back. I push away from the table after I finish signing the bill and hold out my hand to help her up. She puts the linen napkin on the table, and when I see her smooth tan legs crossed, I wonder if they are soft like silk. She grabs her Chanel purse with one hand and holds out the other to me as she gets up.
