“Great, so I get to marry you, and then she gets to marry some guy who is going to love her,” Matthew says, glaring and folding his arms over his chest.

“That sounds about right.”

“I’m going to haunt her from the grave,” Matthew threatens.

I look at Karrie. “Don’t worry about that. We are going to sage the house.”

“I’m not having this discussion,” Matthew says and calls the kids.

“There is no discussion really. You get me, and she gets, I don’t know, Chris Hemsworth.”

“He’s married,” Karrie says from beside me.

“Karrie,” Matthew hisses out.

“What? You’re dead. You don’t want me to be alone for the rest of my life, do you?”

“Um, yeah, I see nothing wrong with that. Since you’re leaving me with her.” He points at me.

“Hey, I am good eye candy, but I’ll also need like a hall pass to go and have sex with other people.”

“If you are going to have sex with other people, then so will I,” Matthew says, looking at me.

“Absolutely not. No husband of mine is going to have sex with another woman.”

“Enough,” Karrie says. “No one is dying.” She gets up and walks over to Matthew, but she is walking funny.

“Did he get the wrong hole again?” I snicker into my cup when she turns to glare at me.

“I told her it was a bad idea, but she kept begging for it,” Matthew says, his chest puffing out again. “The cry after? Not so good.”

“You have to relax, Karrie, and just let it happen,” I tell her, and somehow she tries to glare at me again but she’s so out of it she closes her eyes.

“I’m hungry!” Cooper yells as he walks down the stairs, and then the girls come in, and I swear I did not know I owned that much blue eye shadow, but Vivienne is wearing a green and then a blue, and Franny has blue and pink.

“I’ll get the face rags,” Matthew says, kissing Karrie on the head. “You go eat.”

We sit at the table with the kids to eat and then get excited when the guy with the blow-up castles arrives. The rest of the afternoon flies by, and the number of people arriving is just overwhelming, I don’t remember half the names.

I do know that I am always with a mimosa in my hand, and when the car finally gets here to drive us home, I beg to sit in the back seat. I get in and lie down, my head still spinning or maybe it never stopped. Zoe gets in with Viktor following her, and I have to say if the guy was available, I would give him a ride. But one look and you know he’s not even there.

I close my eyes, and before you know it, we are in front of my building. I hear Zoe call my name, and I get up, grabbing my bags with me. “It was lots of fun,” I tell them, then look at Zoe. “Give me a call this week, and we’ll grab lunch.”

She nods at me and kisses my cheek, and I walk into the lobby, nodding at the security guy who is here on the weekends. He looks cute. Maybe I should … and I’m saved by the ding of the elevator.

The cool air hits me right away, and I bring the bags with me to my closet and dump them there. Then I walk to the bathroom and fill up the tub. All I need is a good soak and a full night’s rest with a detox in the morning. I slip my bikini bottom off and then the top and see that I’ve gotten a little bit of a tan. My face is a little red, and when I slip into the bath, I lean back and just clear my head.

I stay in the tub until the hot water turns a lukewarm. Getting out, I then slip into bed naked only to wake the next day at noon. I sit on the couch while I go through my emails and then see that I can make the two o’clock Pilates class. I grab my white shorts and slip them on with a black bra and a leopard print silk button-down shirt that I leave open at the top and tuck in the front.

I grab my open-toe black heels and my Chanel purse and make my way to the studio. I do the class, and then afterward, I get one-on-one instruction from a trainer who helps work all my muscles. I end it with a sixty-minute yoga class.

When I walk out of the studio a few hours later, my body feels more relaxed than it has in a while. I look down at my phone and am not watching where I am going and walk smack into someone. When firm hands grab my waist and his smell hits me right away, I know it is a man. I even know what this man looks like. It isn’t the first time I get his smell all over me.
