I don’t want to see any of them.

I sleep on and off until the early evening when the warehouse fills with noise, voices, and laughter, and I realize it’s a party.

These fuckers are partying.

Like nothing has happened.

I stand, my legs shaky, and push the door open, peering out. The sight that greets me makes my stomach twist. There are women everywhere, hanging off the club members, their bodies pressed close, their clothes barely there.

Sweetbutts.

They seriously brought in women to keep them entertained.

I huff, but decide I am going to at least go outside for some fresh air, away from the noise and chaos. I get changed into a light dress and tie my hair up, then I walk out, moving through the crowd of people, not sure which door to open to get out. I start randomly picking, opening multiple rooms filled with people fucking.

It’s the third door I open that has my world coming to a stop.

I see Talon.

He’s in the corner, on a couch, a girl kneeling on the floor in front of him. Her head is moving up and down as she takes his dick deep into her mouth, and his hands are buried in her hair. In that moment, everything I thought I couldn’t lose shatters into dust. His eyes are closed, but my gasp makes them snap open, but I don’t wait for him to speak. I turn, crashing through the doorframe, out into the hallway, needing air, needing to run, needing...I don’t fucking know.

I come to a stop when I see Wolfe, he’s leaning against the wall, looking at me with a mix of surprise and something else, something I don’t wait to figure out. I’m ready to scream at him, to vent my frustrations, when Talon’s voice cuts through, raw and sharp.

“Where the fuck do you think you’re going?”

Oh hell no.

He doesn’t get to act like a commander now.

“Show me the video,” I rasp, stepping up closer to Wolfe. “Now.”

Wolfe hesitates, pulling his phone from his pocket, unlocking it. I snatch it before he can hand it over, fumbling to find the video, my fingers numb and trembling. Talon’s footsteps are getting closer, and then I find it, Lily’s wide eyes, her small voice croaking as they force her to speak. I spin around, thrust the phone at him, my heart a wildfire in my chest.

“Look at her!” I scream, and it comes out like a sob. “Look at the little girl you promised to help! I hope you never have a daughter that you love so fucking deeply you’d burn the world to save her, because God knows you’d probably fucking fail her, too.”

Talon’s face hardens, and his eyes hold mine, but I don’t wait for him to say anything.

“I’m done here. Done with all of you. I’ll go and do this myself. If I die, so be it, at least I’m doing it for the right reasons.”

I rush out, finally finding the right door, and it’s only because I see someone come through it. I hit the grass outside, and I rush towards the trees, no idea where it is I’m planning on going but knowing I need to get the hell out of here. I can’t wipe the image of Talon from my mind, and my heart cracks clean in two.

I can’t take it anymore.

I’m done here.

I RUN UNTIL I’M NEARLY out of breath, and I don’t stop until I hear footsteps behind me followed by an angry growl. “Where the fuck do you think you’re going to go?”

Talon.

I whirl around, facing him, my skin slick with sweat. “What do you care?”

“You’re gonna get yourself killed.”

“Good, then I will no longer be your problem.”

He steps closer, his eyes dark. “You did this, not me.”

“Fuck you, Talon.”

“You’re not gonna make it without us.”

“I’d rather die trying than stay here and watch you with your dick in another girl’s mouth.”

He crosses the distance in a heartbeat, his presence overwhelming. “Did that hurt?”

Asshole.

Rotten asshole.

“I hate you!” I hiss, the words tearing out of me. “I hate you so much. Yes, it hurt, it hurt so goddamned bad. Is that what you want? Does that make you happy? Do you feel like you’ve won now?”

Something snaps in him and he pulls me against him, his mouth crashing down on mine in a violent, desperate clash. It’s a ferocious kiss, all lips and heat and raw need, and I melt into it, into him, my body igniting with a need I am done trying to control.

He pushes me, hard, against the rough bark of a tree, pinning me there, and I gasp as the world spins around me. “Tell me you hate me again,” he growls, his voice a rough rasp against my lips.

“I hate you,” I whisper, but we both know it’s a lie. “I fucking hate you, Talon.”
